Description
Book Introduction
This book is a revised edition of “Traveling the Bible” published in 2019. All content, including text, structure, and illustrations, has been completely revised and supplemented, boldly omitting unnecessary historical material and adding depth to the history of salvation and the Bible. This book can be introduced with the following five characteristics. First, the historical background of the Bible was divided into twelve eras according to chronology and organized clearly. Second, we trace how God's redemption was gradually completed through thousands of years of biblical history, centered on Christ. Third, the themes and main theology of the 66 books of the Bible were organized. Fourth, dozens of maps and tables are included to help with three-dimensional understanding and memorization. Fifth, to help you understand more in detail, we have linked to YouTube lectures via QR codes. As you read the book slowly, you will experience the amazing miracle of understanding the flow of biblical history and naturally forming a larger picture of the Bible in your mind. This book is for Sunday school teachers, small group leaders, preachers, and anyone else who wants to know more about the Bible. |

Into the book
Based on the early Exodus chronology (see Exodus), Abraham's birth would be in 2166 BC, and therefore Genesis 1-11 would be at least before 2166 BC.
What was the political climate like at the time? Around 2350 BC, about 200 years earlier, Sargon I united all of Mesopotamia and established the Akkadian Empire. The period from Noah's time to the birth of Abraham was undoubtedly a period of political turmoil.
Also, in terms of civilization history, it was the period when the Bronze Age civilization reached its peak.
---「Creation Age '1.
From "The Story of the Beginning"
What kind of place was Haran, where Abraham and his companions arrived? At the time, Haran was a key transportation hub on the route to Mesopotamia, Armenia, Palestine, and Egypt.
That is why the Battle of Carchemish took place in Haran in 605 BC, a great clash between the declining Assyria, the newly rising Babylonia, and Egypt, which was trying to expand into the world with dreams of an empire.
---「The Age of the Patriarchs '3.
From "Abraham's Migration"
In the Bible, the sea is a place of chaos and disorder, and symbolizes death.
However, the people of the kingdom of God must enter death to gain life.
The truth of this paradox also foreshadows the gospel ministry of Jesus Christ, who opened the way to salvation to the whole world through the gospel of his death on the cross and resurrection.
This is why Paul referred to the Red Sea incident as a baptism incident (1 Corinthians 10:2).
The Bible says that the Hebrew slaves first became the people of Jehovah God after the Red Sea incident.
---「Exodus '7.
From "The Ten Plagues and God's Mission"
What is a 'holy war'?
Wars that have often been fought in the name of holy wars throughout human history, such as the Crusades, were often caused by religious or racial issues.
Could the holy war described in the Book of Joshua also be in a similar vein? First, let's remember the premise.
The Bible is a book of covenant and at the same time a book that reveals the sovereignty and rule of God the Creator among the nations.
---「Canaanite Era '9.
From "Introduction to the War of Conquest and the Battle of Central Canaan"
Meanwhile, while Israel was wasting hundreds of years in Canaan, thousands of kilometers away, the region of Mycenae (Greece-Macedonia) was facing a crisis due to a sudden invasion by sea peoples.
They were a northern European people who were on a great southward migration, and their migration was very important in ancient history because it played a decisive role in the transition from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age civilization.
---「The Age of the Four Sages '11.
From "How to Read the Book of Judges"
Persia's policy of tolerance proved so effective that, from its conquest of Babylonia in 538 BC until the rise of Alexander the Great in 330 BC, Persia remained a dominant power in the Near East for over 200 years. This was a considerably longer period compared to Babylon, which reigned for approximately 70 years, from the First Battle of Carchemish in 609 BC to 538 BC.
---「Return Era '25.
From "The People Who Return"
During the reign of Philadelphus, who succeeded Soter as king, work was done to translate the Hebrew version of the Old Testament into Greek.
Because Alexandria was geographically close to Judea, many Jews already lived there, and the Greeks of Alexandria were also very interested in the unique culture and religion of the Jews.
---「Intermediate Period '26.
From "The Beginning and Division of the Hellenistic Empire"
From the perspective of the original readers at the time, what awe they must have felt as they deciphered the images, allusions, and codes in the letter from John, who was exiled to the island of Patmos, and finally arrived at the triumph of the Lamb and the fall of Babylon (Rome). Although the present reality before their eyes was bleak, what immense strength and courage they must have gained from encountering the tangible, visionary revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ, who rules over the world and history, even amidst such imperial persecution!
