Book Introduction
Eight years have already passed since the publication of the book titled “Modern Poetry Education Theory.”
Eight years ago, I attempted to lay out the overall framework of the book, hoping that the inside and outside of the poetry text, and the beginning and end of educational practice, would form a progressive cycle, and my attempt to include content encompassing both theory and practice met with considerable reader acclaim.
However, in the meantime, our classrooms and poetry have undergone significant changes amidst a rapidly changing environment, including an unprecedented infectious disease, a deepening climate crisis, and the expansion of artificial intelligence, which brings with it both hope and concern.
To reflect these changes and align the content with the revised national curriculum announced in 2022, the authors have once again put their heads together.
With even greater excitement than when we published the first edition, we present this revised edition, which will provide a new theoretical foundation for poetry education in a changing field.
I hope this book will live up to the expectations of many readers who still hold the anachronistic notion of poetry education in high regard.
