Introduction to All-Solid State Batteries
Introduction to All-Solid State Batteries
Description
Book Introduction
For building a new energy society
Next-generation lithium-ion batteries

As the problem of climate change due to global warming becomes more apparent, reducing carbon dioxide emissions is a critical and urgent task that must be addressed.
To reduce carbon dioxide emissions, fossil fuels must be replaced with renewable natural energy, and mobility using internal combustion engines must be electrified.

To build a future energy society, energy devices that store electrical energy with high energy conversion efficiency are needed.
Secondary batteries are one type of energy device that serves this purpose, and are recognized as a key technology for envisioning a future energy society, as they can introduce various natural energies.
Currently, 'lithium-ion batteries' are being used for this purpose, but due to issues such as energy density, secondary batteries with higher energy density will be needed in the coming energy society.
Accordingly, all-solid-state batteries with characteristics such as high energy density, absolute safety, and very long lifespan are attracting attention.
All-solid-state batteries solidify the electrolyte, enabling the use of high-capacity materials such as lithium metal cathodes that were previously unavailable. They are also more stable than liquid batteries and help extend the life of the battery.
All-solid-state batteries overcome all the shortcomings of lithium-ion batteries.

This book explores the significance of all-solid-state batteries, a type of secondary battery, the manufacturing method for all-solid-state batteries, and the process technology.
This book covers sulfide-based solid electrolytes and oxide-based electrolytes, and also explores composite electrolytes of ceramics and polymers for realistic cell design.
In addition, the material development methods obtained through research to date, battery manufacturing methods, and problems that must be solved in the future were explained.
