Publisher's Review
In statistics, the most widely used methods for collecting data are statistical surveys, experiments, and observations.
Among these methods, the most widely used is statistical research.
Statistical surveys are widely used in various fields of society, such as government surveys, public opinion surveys, marketing surveys, and general research surveys.
Most statistical surveys today are conducted through sample surveys.
Therefore, understanding sample surveys and having the ability to utilize them appropriately is very important for conducting statistical surveys correctly and utilizing the results properly.

『Sampling Theory』 is a subject that provides the theoretical basis for statistical research and is also the foundation of the study of statistics.
The subject 『Statistical Research Methodology』 learned in the first semester of the third year mainly focused on social research and covered the overall content of statistical research, whereas 『Sampling Research Theory』 covered the theoretical aspects of statistical research, so the two subjects can be said to be complementary.
This textbook covers the basics of sampling theory and presents numerous examples to facilitate understanding of the concepts rather than a mathematical approach.

This textbook is largely divided into three parts.
Chapter 1 provides an overview of sample surveys and covers basic terms and concepts. Chapters 2 through 7 introduce various widely used sampling methods and their application cases. Chapters 8 through 10 introduce sample survey design, questionnaire writing, non-sampling errors, and sample survey cases that arise when applying actual sample surveys.
