Book Introduction
The author of this book, Peter Levin, was originally an animal ecologist who studied animal behavior in the wild. Inspired by the reactions of animals when they were in danger of death from predators, he developed Somatic Experiencing, a therapy that approaches trauma by noticing bodily sensations.
In other words, this therapeutic technique is a gift from nature, allowing us to recover from trauma and live a full life by integrating the fragmented and blocked parts of our bodies through vivid body sensations in the present moment without having to go through the painful process of recalling the past.

In other words, this technique is not intended to erase or make us forget past events.
I am not trying to deny or disavow that.
This technique acknowledges the event and uses the body's memory to unify the disconnected body by utilizing the buried and forgotten resources of the individual due to the trauma and sensations that emerge.
Although the body suffered from trauma, it is ultimately the body that heals.
This treatment method, which gradually heals patients by utilizing the body's senses without recalling the terrible past, is in line with Oriental medicine, which has long recognized emotional changes as an important cause of disease and emphasized the organic relationship between the body and mind. It can be said to be suitable for Koreans, who tend to express their emotional pain through their bodies.

Trauma is difficult to cure, and even if it is treated, the effects are slow to appear, and sometimes it even seems to regress.
However, after securing a basic sense of stability and self-awareness, which are the most important factors in treating trauma patients, and following the 12-step program of this book, like carefully measuring each drop in a chemical experiment, you will soon find that your personal tolerance area expands and transformation occurs.
