Description
Book Introduction
This book presents a new counseling paradigm that emphasizes genuine encounters by logically and consistently integrating the concepts, techniques, and insights provided by client-centered counseling, transactional analysis, Gestalt, self-psychology, and British object relations theory.
The authors aimed to present counseling theory in a clear and understandable manner in this book, and to suggest, in an equally clear and understandable way, how counselors can put that theory into practice in their counseling.
Because it is important to examine examples of how the theory is applied to the vivid, real-life interactions between clients and counselors in 'real counseling settings,' the authors present a variety of examples drawn from transcripts of counseling sessions they actually conducted.
The counseling methods presented in this book serve as a systematic guide for traditional individual counseling and can be used in both short-term and long-term counseling.
