Publisher's Review
Preface to the Fourth Edition

Since the first edition of the Insurance Law was published in 2017, the fourth edition has now been published.
I would like to express my gratitude to the readers of this book.
Since the publication of the third edition in early 2021, a considerable amount of time has passed, and there was a great need to publish a revised edition. However, I was unable to find the time as I began my term as Chairman of the Fair Trade Commission in September 2022.
However, as the stock of the 3rd edition ran out and the number of revisions increased, I had to make time on the weekends to prepare the 4th edition with great difficulty.
This fourth edition reflects relevant legal revisions and new case law since the publication of the third edition.
In terms of legislation, the focus was primarily on reflecting the contents of the Financial Consumer Protection Act.
As for case law, we introduce and review new and important case law, such as the interpretation of insurance terms and conditions, the duty to explain insurance terms and conditions, the relationship between the duty to notify and the duty to inform, the statute of limitations for claims for return of insurance money, a suit to confirm the non-existence of an insurance payment obligation, the insurer's right to cancel based on loss of trust, the insurer's right of subrogation, and the right to direct claim in liability insurance.

I would like to express my gratitude to Chairman Jong-man Ahn of Park Young-sa, who kindly published the fourth edition, and to Director Seong-ho Cho and Deputy Director Seung-hyeon Lee, who have always supported me through planning and editing.
