Easy-to-understand geophysics
Description
Book Introduction
An introductory text introducing geophysics to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in geology or physics, written by Robert J.
This is a translation of 'Whole Earth Geophysics' written by Professor Lillie.
By minimizing equations and inserting numerous figures, the book has been edited so that a significant portion of the content on geophysical phenomena, measurement, and analysis can be understood just by looking at the figures. The text also provides simple and friendly explanations to easily and comfortably introduce most of the major geophysical topics.
The book begins by presenting the theory of plate tectonics as a global phenomenon, then explains the development of major tectonic structures, and then shows how geophysical methods such as natural earthquakes, artificial seismic waves, gravity, magnetism, and geothermal heat contribute to studying the Earth.
