This book, “Never Eat Your Fill,” is an ancient book that was first published 210 years ago in 1812, the year of Imjin, as the “First Oral Translation of the Nambuk Sangbeopgeukui Susinrok.”
This is one of the four volumes in the economics and management section of the first attempt at a single volume, 『20 Books of the Century - The Wisdom of a Millennium Series』.
This book became known after author Seungho Kim, whose book, “The Nature of Money,” has sold over 400 copies, strongly recommended it.
The author, Mizuno Namboku, was a renowned 18th-century master who had 3,000 disciples and lived to the age of 78, a long life span at a time when the average life expectancy was in the mid-40s.
Although he rose to great heights through his physiognomy and held office, he devoted almost his entire life to spreading and teaching one important principle, which is discussed in this book.
It was the message that 'all good and bad fortunes lie in food.'
In other words, he argued that happiness, longevity, prosperity, and success depend on 'eating food,' the most basic essence of 'moderation.'

The author emphasizes 'food' as one element that can solve basic human needs such as 'Why don't we accumulate wealth?', 'Why can't happiness remain in the family?', 'How can we achieve success and longevity?', and 'Can we achieve our desires by moderating our food intake?'
The book is structured in a way that questions arise in various situations, and the author's argument for success through food is based on basic 'natural principles' that go beyond personal common sense.
The simple truth is that if you eat too much, your body will feel heavy and it will be difficult to be agile, if you eat too much and the food stays in your intestines for a long time, it will cause various diseases, and if you get sick, all the energy, time, and resources that were spent pursuing success will be used to take care of your body and cure the disease.

In the current situation, it is understandable that when you get close to alcohol and meat, invite people over to eat and have fun, you often say and do things you wouldn't otherwise, and make promises in a state of excitement, but these often don't lead to trustworthy business.
The most important message repeated throughout the book is that "whether a person lives or dies comes down to whether or not he or she has more food to eat."
It shows a pattern that continuously emphasizes the profound and special message that since a person is born, there is a predetermined amount of food from heaven, and if you eat all of it without moderation, the predetermined and allotted food will run out, and when there is no more food left, you will die because you have stopped eating.
Ultimately, the core message of the book is that 'fasting changes your fortune.'

Into the book
The lucky ones are blessed with food from heaven.
Heaven gives us life and food to eat.
Therefore, if there is life, there is food, and if there is food, there is still life.

--- p.21

Even if you have a good personality, if you cannot control your eating habits, your inner virtue will disappear and as time goes by, nothing good will remain in your heart.
Even if one has a poor appearance, only those who practice moderation can live long, eat more, and continue to have good fortune.

--- p.25

If you have had moderate eating habits since childhood, the amount of food you receive from heaven will spread throughout the world and be reflected in your descendants, and you yourself will also receive satisfaction from it.
Because even if you die, your descendants will receive the amount of food you have accumulated.

--- p.30

In the first place, the food given by heaven has a limited amount.
If you eat more than this, you are indebted to heaven every day.

--- p.38

Even if you have a poor appearance, if you eat a balanced and strict diet like a truly poor person, poverty will disappear without any regard for your appearance.
You have obtained an indulgence and the corresponding gold and silver treasures.
This is called self-happiness and self-virtue.

--- p.45

Just as grass, trees, and crops grow well when given the right fertilizer, people also naturally live longer when they eat the right and appropriate food.
Therefore, we must not do things that harm life. Those who, despite knowing this heavenly law, still overeat are like shooting a fiery arrow at their own good and pure life.

--- p.51

Putting down the spoon when your stomach is not full is a difficult task for most people, but if you wish for success, advancement, development, happiness, fortune, wealth and honor from heaven, stability for your children and family, and a healthy and long life, isn't it something you can do?
--- p.55

The wealth that has decreased without your knowledge is worth the 'words' of complaint and discontent.
A good person cannot stand being around someone who spits out words of complaint, discontent, regret, and bitterness instead of words of praise or gratitude.

--- p.59

If you meet many people and enjoy drinks and meat while running a family business, those thoughts will accumulate and pile up, and you will only end up with thoughts that are like chasing clouds and not focusing on the main point. This will prevent you from leading the family business on the right path and can easily lead you down a detour.

--- p.64

This is the entrance to the bathroom.
Once you put something in your mouth, it is dirty even if you spit it out.
It's no different from shit and it's like shit.

Imagine throwing delicious, good food down the toilet.
No one does that.

--- p.66

If you feel that your impression is poor and unfortunate, make it your top priority to cultivate virtue in heaven and earth through moderation.

--- p.73

Remember that luck doesn't change based on a person's character, but rather on how much focus you put into what you do.

--- p.94

Anyone who practices abstinence for three years will find luck they never had before.
As you become healthier and your mind and heart become clearer, you will be able to exert great strength in everything you do, and success and advancement will naturally follow as the natural fruits.
--- p.97

Publisher's Review
I have been living a long life as a physiognomist.
However, before the ability to judge physiognomy, we did not know that human fortune and misfortune depended on food.
They judged good or bad luck just by the appearance of the face.

There are many people in the world who have the appearance of being rich and high-ranking, but who live poor, short lives and lives of dishonor.
On the other hand, there are many people who are poor and have short lives, but who are wealthy, rise to high positions, and live long lives.
This is how I came to realize that there is something more important than innate inertia.
It is a pity that many people do not understand the importance of food and fail to attain the blessings, wealth, and peace that come from moderation.
We must quickly realize that human fortune, happiness and unhappiness, are determined by whether or not we can moderate our eating and drinking.

It is so important to convey this realization to the world.
I have three thousand disciples, and I always teach them that knowing moderation in food is more important than knowing physiognomy, reason, and fortune telling.
And we all see real evidence of how those who have actually put this method into practice have completely transformed and transformed their own destinies.

There was a man who suffered a great disaster.
Although he was poor from a young age, he worked tirelessly to escape poverty and was proud of what he had achieved, even having a good wife and two children.
But now that I'm middle-aged, all that hard work has slowed down a bit.
I find myself reaching for alcohol and meat more often, working a little less, and craving delicious food more often.
But what he achieved was more than just luck or physiognomy; it was the result of his self-restraint and hard work, transforming his destiny.
Not knowing this, he became indifferent to food and alcohol, and his natural talent took its place again.
His small business was taken away by the local government officials, and his wife became seriously ill and ended up in bed.
The two sons were caught up in a fight in the city and were taken to the authorities and thrown in jail.

He came to me with a miserable face, and tried to defend himself by asking me about his fortune and how his life would flow in the future.
But I told him that if he first strictly abstained from food, avoided alcohol and meat, and did not eat his fill of delicious food, all these things would be resolved on their own, and sent him away.
He did not listen to these teachings in vain, and not only did he overcome greater hardships, but he also lived a happier life.

There are many cases where people who appear to have lived a life of poverty have not only amassed considerable wealth through moderation in food but have also made significant contributions to the world.
There are many people who were long considered to be sickly and short-lived, but who, by eating a moderate diet in the morning and evening and managing their diet thoroughly, have become healthy in body and mind and are living long lives.
This has happened repeatedly over the past several decades, and now, not only among the disciples who are with me, but also from all over the region, I am being asked to teach.

Since then, when I look at someone's physiognomy, I first ask about their eating habits.
I am even more convinced that a person's fate is determined by food, as I have never failed to tell the fortunes of a person's life, good or bad, happiness or unhappiness, based on his or her diet.
Therefore, I have established this law and the standard for judging the energy of heaven as the secret of my physiognomy judgment method, and I am not only conveying it through words, but also taking the lead and practicing it myself.
I decided to never eat rice for the rest of my life and only eat five spoonfuls of barley per meal.
Alcohol is a pleasure I have enjoyed since I was young and I really like it, but I also limit myself to one glass a day.
This practice is not just for me.

This is an action for everyone, as I sincerely hope that people around the world will refer to this book, practice moderation in food as soon as possible, and achieve future success, longevity, and happiness in life.
