No more lifelong management! You need to graduate from diabetes.
No more lifelong management! Diabetes: You need to graduate.
Description
Book Introduction
Diabetes: Lifelong management isn't the answer.
Now it's time to graduate!

Modern medicine considers diabetes a chronic disease that requires lifelong management.
However, Director Lee Hye-min breaks this stereotype and proves through actual clinical cases that "graduating from diabetes" is possible, offering new hope to many patients who consider diabetes incurable and rely on drug treatment.
Based on the experience and research results gained from treating numerous diabetics, the author proposes a path to diabetes graduation through fundamental healing beyond simple blood sugar control.

After being diagnosed with diabetes and seeing patients develop diabetic complications or worsen their health while taking medication, the author began to question the existing treatment methods.
And through research and clinical experience, we have learned that we need to reduce drug dependence, restore pancreatic function, and fundamentally heal the body.
In particular, Koreans, who have smaller and weaker pancreases than Westerners, often have difficulty overcoming diabetes with conventional treatment methods.
To address this, the author has been researching oriental medical approaches and developing prescriptions to help restore pancreatic function.
Furthermore, research is underway to expand Korean diabetes treatment methods throughout Asia.

This book presents concrete evidence and scientific, practical solutions to help you overcome diabetes.
It presents principles for fundamentally recovering the body from drug dependence and contains vivid success stories of people who have actually graduated from diabetes.
It also shows that anyone can graduate from diabetes through a systematic program that combines lifestyle improvement and oriental medicine treatment.

Into the book
Diabetes, the disease with the greatest burden of disease
This research paper ranked the disease burden of the 288 most common diseases among Koreans, revealing that diabetes ranked first in both 2008 and 2018.
Seeing these remarkable results weighed heavily on my heart as a doctor, but at the same time, I felt a great sense of mission in caring for those with the most declining quality of life.
There were many changes in the rankings from 2nd to 20th place in the disease rankings, which included various diseases such as disc disease and cirrhosis.
However, diabetes has been the top disease causing the greatest burden of disease for the past 10 years, surpassing serious diseases such as cancer, stroke, and heart disease.

The most important thing to graduate from diabetes is mindset.
If improving your lifestyle habits often only lasts for three days, imagine yourself becoming healthier after graduating from diabetes.
Anyone can graduate from diabetes if they change their behavior with a positive will to “graduate from diabetes!”
When your thoughts change, your feelings change, and when your feelings change, your actions change.
Let's start practicing right now to graduate from diabetes and live a healthier life.

--- p.49

The pancreas should not be tired
If you only check the glycated hemoglobin level, you cannot determine whether the pancreas is being overworked or whether more severe diabetes is progressing.
The pancreas is being damaged by overwork, but on the outside, the glycated hemoglobin appears to be stable or rising gradually.
As mentioned earlier, one of the characteristics of Korean diabetes is that pancreatic function is relatively weaker than that of Westerners.
So, like the patient above, there are many cases where the pancreas cannot handle the strain and becomes exhausted.
This is also the reason why type 1.5 diabetes is increasing.

Capillary examination: the beginning of prevention of diabetic complications
In particular, diabetic complications are closely related to the health of capillaries.
Even if blood sugar levels are well controlled within the target range, complications may occur, or complications may occur shortly after the onset of diabetes, and most of these complications are closely related to problems with capillaries.
On the other hand, when examining healthy people over 60 years of age, they all have one thing in common: the number of capillaries is stable and they are evenly distributed throughout the body.
Therefore, if you want to prevent diabetic complications and further aim for a long and disease-free life, it is essential to keep your capillaries healthy.

The best lifestyle tip for people with diabetes: walking barefoot.
In fact, a doctor appeared on the show "Cheonki Leakage" that aired on November 12, 2021 and said that walking barefoot makes the blood pure and strong, reduces red blood cell aggregation to improve blood flow, helps with hyperlipidemia, relieves inflammation, helps restore vitality, and has an acupressure effect.
As the blood becomes pure and strong, it is helpful for diabetes and is especially good for preventing the three major diabetic complications that are closely related to capillary problems.
Many people suffer from diabetic complications even when their blood sugar levels are well controlled, and I strongly recommend walking barefoot to these patients.

Publisher's Review
Revealing vivid real-life examples of diabetes graduates

We shared specific treatment processes and lifestyle improvement methods through real-life cases of people overcoming diabetes.
Diabetes is one of the diseases with a large burden of disease, and there are many problems that cannot be solved by simply managing blood sugar levels.
We explain why weight loss is important for diabetes management, and specifically analyze the impact of a 10% weight loss on diabetes graduation.
It also explains why complications can occur even when blood sugar levels are normal, and emphasizes the need for diabetes graduation as a fundamental solution.

Koreans need a traditional Korean medicine approach that takes into account their different physical characteristics from Westerners.
This book compares traditional Western medical approaches with Oriental medicine methods and suggests more effective diabetes management methods.
We analyze vivid and diverse cases of people actually graduating from diabetes, including a case where the glycated hemoglobin level was reduced from 14.6% to 5.3%.
It explains the effects of combining exercise and diet, and introduces in detail lifestyle management methods for diabetics, such as walking barefoot, eating upside down, and managing fasting blood sugar levels.
It also covers the tests and treatments needed to prevent diabetes complications.
It emphasizes the importance of managing vascular health through capillary examination and presents practical strategies for improving overall health as well as blood sugar control.

"No Lifelong Management, You Must Graduate from Diabetes" is a practical guide based on actual clinical data.
To all those who are frustrated after being diagnosed with diabetes, we offer hope that “you can graduate from diabetes” and suggest a path to overcoming diabetes that was once thought to be impossible.
