Kang Kyung-won's Back to Basics
Description
Book Introduction
“If you had to learn exercise from just one person in your life, who would it be?”
50 million cumulative views, 350,000 subscribers, and praise and respect
I have 30 years of experience in evaluating the chaotic health YouTube channel.
The first health bible from Korea's No. 1 legendary bodybuilder, Kang Kyung-won.
“Trust me, Kang Kyung-won, with 30 years of experience in sports.”
The first exercise book by Kang Kyung-won, the absolute idol of those who work out and recognized as Korea's best bodybuilder by all, has been published.
He is the first Korean to receive a pro card at the Arnold Classic, a world-renowned bodybuilding competition, and has left an unprecedented mark on the bodybuilding world by becoming the first Korean to advance to the Olympia.
In Korea, he is already a 15-time gold medalist in the National Sports Festival and is known as a living legend, as he left behind an unprecedented streak of consecutive wins with his name Kang Kyung-won.
He had left Korea to advance into the US, but in 2019, he suddenly opened the YouTube channel 'Kang Kyung-won' and delivered exercise lectures that had never been revealed before with excellent planning and video quality, causing a seismic shift in the fitness YouTube world.
The emergence of a legend that emphasizes the basics and principles in the midst of a flood of information is gaining endless support from Hells who want the real thing, killing two birds with one stone: popularity and fame.
With such passionate support, he compiled the exercise know-how he had acquired over the past 30 years into a book.
The most basic weight training exercises that can be referenced by beginners, intermediate, and advanced users are divided into upper and lower body muscle groups, and are evenly distributed without being biased towards machines or free weights.
The author himself demonstrated the entire process as a model, and included detailed explanations, tips for NGs, and even QR codes to help with quick understanding.
The 'Health Bible' was created to contain all the information that exercisers want to know most, including the most frequently asked questions about diet and mental management, and even the split routines they look at before going to the gym.
He decided to publish this book because he felt sorry that people were exercising with incorrect information and even getting injured, and it presents content and structure that could not be more insightful.
With the mere news of its release already drawing praise as the Korean version of the Arnold Classic, don't miss this special opportunity to learn about true muscle-building "exercise" rather than muscle-losing "labor."

Into the book
The content in this book is the result of 30 years of continuous effort to learn through personal experience.
In fact, there was sweat and tears that were secretly shed to acquire these.
It wasn't an easy decision to share my hard-earned know-how with everyone through a book.
Nevertheless, the reason I wrote this book is because I felt that many people who enjoy exercise are struggling in a deluge of information, suffering minor and major injuries due to incorrect information, and even their perception of exercise itself is changing.
I felt like now was the time to sort out this confusion.
--- p.
5
For your health, first of all, I recommend avoiding such foods as much as possible and exercising for at least 1.5 to 2 hours at least 4 times a week.
To live a 'healthy' life, you need to exercise for a total of about 2 hours a day: 1 hour of strength training, 30 minutes of aerobic exercise, and the last 30 minutes of stretching or cool-down exercises.
When I talk like this, many people ask how I can exercise for 2 hours a day when I have absolutely no time.
But still, there are many people who make time.
--- p.
16
In fact, when members tell me they want to have a cheat day, I always tell them not to.
The reason is simple.
I've been managing it for 30 years, but people's palates are so fickle that once you start eating regular food, you tend to keep craving that taste.
The moments when I diet become very difficult.
Even experienced people like me have a hard time, so if regular members suddenly start eating regular food after eating clean food, the consequences are obvious.
--- p.
26
I always tell my students and those who exercise that if you truly want to get in better shape, you can't enjoy all the things that ordinary people enjoy.
If you desperately want something, you have to know how to let it go.
Ordinary people can enjoy the pleasures of everyday life as they wish, such as eating out frequently, eating as much delicious food and alcohol as they want, traveling, and attending gatherings, but people who work out cannot do so.
The reason is simple.
The basic routine of bodybuilding is to exercise, eat the right nutrition, rest, and then exercise again.
You can't build your body if you don't create this simple environment for yourself.
Getting enough rest, which many people overlook, is also extremely important for muscle growth.
--- p.
30
I want to emphasize that you should do all the exercises in this book evenly.
Especially in the case of squats, there is a higher risk of knee or back injury than it looks, and even people who have been exercising for a long time often have incorrect posture when they actually try to do it.
If you are a beginner who is new to squats, there are some exercises that you must do first because you may not have the strength in the necessary muscles.
--- p.
33
What I always emphasize is stimulation.
I think stimulation is the most important thing, and for stimulation to work well, you basically need to have good posture.
To improve posture, you need to know and feel how to use your muscles well, but most people focus on lifting only by focusing on reps or weight.
Bodybuilding exercises require you to lift weights while controlling the weight so that the stimulus is concentrated on the target area.
It can be quite challenging to feel all three: stimulation, weight, and posture.
But to get to the next level, you need to focus on all three as much as possible.
In fact, there was sweat and tears that were secretly shed to acquire these.
It wasn't an easy decision to share my hard-earned know-how with everyone through a book.

Publisher's Review
First Korean to become Arnold Classic champion, first to advance to Olympia
15-time National Sports Festival gold medalist with an unprecedented winning streak
The Muscle-Building Health Bible of Korea's Top Bodybuilder, Kang Kyung-won, a "Humble Legend"
“There is no cheat day.
“People’s mouths are so delicate that once you start eating, you want to keep eating.”
There is a bodybuilder who became a hot topic on social media after he left the above famous quote while eating ramen without soup.
The protagonist of this amazing video, who eats 30 egg whites in a bowl of raw noodles, is none other than the world-renowned bodybuilder and living legend, Kang Kyung-won.
The man who looks good on screen and has an even better body just laughs and says there is no such thing as a cheat day.
About 5,000 comments are clean without a single opposing opinion.
I am filled with nothing but awe and respect.
The number of views has long since surpassed 1.3 million.
At this point, I'm starting to wonder who he is and why the Hells are so overwhelmingly enthusiastic about him.
Starting with first place in the Mister University contest in 1997 while he was a college student, he swept first place in Mister Korea, the Busan Asian Games, and the National Sports Festival, and in particular, he left behind a legendary record of winning the National Sports Festival 15 times.
After conquering the domestic market and moving to the United States, he achieved the incredible feat of becoming the first Korean to win, become champion, and obtain a pro card at the Arnold Classic, a world-renowned bodybuilding competition.
This is an unprecedented mark left by a Korean in the history of world bodybuilding.
Since there was no such history before, it played a pioneering role.
It goes without saying that he has become the person most people in the fitness and bodybuilding industry want to emulate and meet.
“It’s wrong to think you have to go to work every day and then hope to get in shape without going to the gym every day,” he once famously said, and now he’s introducing the world to the health bible that tells the whole story of weight training.
This is why the news of the publication of his first exercise book, which has been a hot topic throughout his bodybuilding career and has been a constant source of praise for his work-out skills, is bound to be a hot topic.
It's important to note that this book, titled Bodybuilding Workouts, isn't just for advanced bodybuilders preparing for competitions.
Even beginners who are just learning how to use the machines at the gym can learn from the beginning with the correct posture and points without being intimidated.
Because the quickest way to prevent muscle loss and injury and achieve maximum efficiency safely is the 'basics'.
A must-read for anyone who exercises has been created.
After 30 years of rigorous self-management, including diet, environment, office worker exercise, and slump,
The exercise story Kang Kyung-won, the "urban monk," wanted to share with gym-goers.
What sets this book apart from other exercise books is that it includes a section on "mental training" that contains the weighty messages conveyed by Kang Kyung-won, who has maintained rigorous self-management through bodybuilding-style exercise and diet for the past 30 years.
Although it is an exercise book, this part gives a glimpse into his exercise philosophy as well as his attitude towards life.
He also shows his human charm by confessing that behind his world-class records, fame, and great body, there were sweat and tears that he secretly shed.
He said that it was not an easy decision to share his hard-earned know-how with many people through a book since he first started bodybuilding.
But he says that the reason he ultimately decided to publish it was because he saw so many people who still enjoy working out and sweating bullets at the gym.
This is because I have come to realize the reality of the current fitness world, where people are getting injured by absorbing provocative information and incorrect knowledge instead of exercising in a traditional bodybuilding style, and even their perception of exercise is changing.
If you're looking for someone who can tell you the 'truth' among the exercise information that pours out every day, pay attention.
He talks about the basics that everyone thinks they know, but few actually know.
Back to basics, the key is to get better.
Based on this, his hopes and wishes for people to build a safe and healthy body and enjoy and enjoy exercise are meticulously covered by topic, including exercise purpose, diet, slump, and environment.
He calmly addressed the eternal debates in the fitness world, such as the three major exercises, stimulation and weights, overtraining, and cheat days, using his own standards.
Anyone who has been subscribing to Kang Kyung-won's YouTube channel will not be able to pass this up.
For those who recognize the value of 'real' classics that shine like jewels in the stimulating YouTube ecosystem, he shares the real stories he couldn't fully convey on YouTube.
A must-read before hitting the gym! Includes upper body, lower body, and split routines, plus cardio and breathing techniques.
A multi-million won training guide for beginners to experts, all in one volume.
Squats have now become a popular exercise.
But did you know that squats are actually an advanced exercise that carries a high risk of knee and back injury, and that even experienced squat users often practice poor form? That's why someone desperately needs to know that to successfully perform squats, you need to precede them with lower body strengthening exercises like leg curls and leg extensions.
The author expresses regret over the current state of affairs in which popular sports are prioritized over fundamentals.
So, in this book, I've drawn on my experience coaching countless members, from beginners to advanced and even athletes, over the past 30 years to help you gradually strengthen your muscles, starting with the most basic exercises.
In the upper body part, it breaks down the five areas of back, shoulders, chest, arms, and abs, and points out the structure and stimulation points of each muscle. Then, it introduces the most basic exercises performed in the gym, including machine exercises such as 'lat pulldowns', 'cable pushdowns', and 'power leg presses', as well as free weight exercises such as 'side lateral raises', 'dumbbell bench presses', 'donkey kick backs', and 'side crunches'.
It is also noteworthy that the author personally demonstrates all the exercise poses, as well as providing large process photos, making it a valuable collection.
Tips that could easily be missed are written in detail separately, and arrows indicating the direction of movement of the body and NG cuts that indicate incorrect posture are also included so that even beginners who are exercising for the first time can follow along without difficulty, and intermediate and advanced bodybuilders and those preparing for bodybuilding competitions can also check and examine their posture once again.
Another great advantage is that most exercises include a QR code that links to a YouTube video so you can watch the exercise right away.
We've also included a separate split routine section so you can create your own weekly workout plan, so you can refer to it before heading to the gym.
It is also impressive that there is no gender distinction in exercise, as we live in an era where people of all ages and genders enjoy weight training.
This is why this book is not just a simple 'men's exercise book', but can function as a 'health bible' for the entire nation.
As the author says, don't be impatient, stick to the basics, and enjoy the fun of building a healthy and safe body this year.
