Book Introduction
AI-Based Career Class Guide

"Generating Career Classes - Chat GPT, Adding the Power of Imagination to Career Guidance" is an edutech-based teaching and learning guide that innovatively supports students' career exploration and preparation through AI technology. In a world where books on AI-based career classes are rare, this book offers practical assistance in real-world educational settings.
It was co-written by Ms. Jo Seol-ah, who is currently working as a high school career guidance teacher, and Ms. Heo In-seon, a middle school ethics teacher currently attending the Graduate School of Career Guidance and Education, so it has the great advantage of being easily usable by general subject teachers who do not specialize in career guidance and education.

Through the lessons included in this book, students can utilize ChatGPT to create their own career roadmap and engage in activities that allow them to imagine specific future situations.
For example, students can articulate their career goals through virtual interviews with role models and experience simulations that prepare them for college admissions interviews.
Additionally, through discussions on career conflicts, you will have the opportunity to explore different perspectives and find solutions.
In particular, we have improved teacher convenience by providing input prompts that can be utilized during actual class time, and we have designed it to enable individualized career education by suggesting classes utilizing various AI tools in addition to ChatGPT.

Additionally, this book helps students learn the ethical considerations and responsible use of AI tools, including ChatGPT.
This will enable students to assess the reliability of information, understand the ethical issues that may arise in AI-human interactions, and lay the foundation for developing into mature digital citizens.

This book serves as a useful assistant for career guidance teachers and a tool to facilitate instruction, presenting new possibilities for career education through the practical application of AI technology.

Publisher's Review
[Published article]

Since the introduction of ChatGPT, a whirlwind has swept through the education world, and teachers seem busy receiving related training. However, the majority of teachers are not yet using generative AI like ChatGPT in their classes.
Even without using ChatGPT, classes can be taught using a variety of existing teaching and learning methods, and general high schools that are preparing for entrance exams are more familiar with the lecture-style format.

The problem is always the 'first time'.
For teachers who don't know where or how to start, we're curious and willing to take on the challenge.
After experimenting with various methods and planning, and getting a taste of AI-powered classes, I'm convinced that ChatGPT can be a decent (if not the best) advisor for students' career planning, and furthermore, it can be a faithful assistant to teachers.

In fact, we are teachers with a "moderate" level of knowledge and interest in AI, and we are not the type of people who can boast of being exceptionally skilled in edtech or early adopters.
Moreover, while AI can enrich the content of classes, I don't think it's necessary to use AI in every class.
However, in some classes, AI utilization is clearly effective and valuable, and it's not too difficult, so I recommend it to my fellow teachers.
Since career classes are non-assessed subjects, those who are new to ChatGPT can try them out more boldly.

Here are the reasons why I published a book on career classes using generative AI.
First, by utilizing generative AI to provide diverse career education, students can easily plan their careers while embracing a concrete and realistic picture of their future.
Futures that are vaguely and vaguely drawn are realized as images through generative AI, and they reach students' hearts in a concrete way.
From 'I vaguely want to be a math teacher' to 'This is what it would be like to live as a math teacher', I feel like 'This is what it's like to be a math teacher'.
In fact, while working on the 'Write My Future Novel' activity, I was able to see students who used to be shy about talking about grades and exams imagine their futures in detail, work on them, read and share the stories they produced, laugh out loud, and participate in class with energy, wishing to live like that.
The future stories generated by ChatGPT are not only smoother and richer than those written by a single person, but they also add stories you might not have thought of, giving you a unique perspective on your career path.

Second, generative AIs like ChatGPT learn a vast amount of information to generate content and respond instantly.
Looking at the career counseling process, students ask questions to the counselor, and the counselor provides optimized career and academic information based on his or her know-how and knowledge, and provides career planning guidance.
Thinking about it differently, ChatGPT can play a role similar to that of a counselor, and in addition, immediate interaction with ChatGPT can serve as an effective career exploration guide.
In other words, generative AI can be a complementary tool in career education and counseling.
This is because you can complete your career roadmap after confirming the facts with a career guidance teacher and receiving supplementary counseling regarding your experience with generative AI and career exploration.

Third, as we live in a society where Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies are highly advanced, teachers must proactively utilize AI technologies and learn their strengths and weaknesses to support our children as they navigate the world of AI.
When taxis were first introduced, the people who opposed them the most were the rickshaw pullers.
Rickshaws have faded into history, but they were undoubtedly a competitive short-distance mode of transport before taxis.
We cannot remain rickshaw pullers forever.
The focus of the 2022 revised curriculum is to develop a curriculum that fosters the capabilities demanded by future society.
To foster digital literacy, AI-based classes must be introduced into classrooms.

Fourth, it can foster AI ethics awareness.
A knife is a good tool if used well, but if used incorrectly, it can harm not only yourself but also others.
The same goes for artificial intelligence.
Schools have a responsibility to formally teach students how to use these tools and to train them to think rationally about ethical debates surrounding AI.
The advantages of this book are as follows:

First, it's incredibly easy. Even teachers without AI tool experience can use it right away.
Second, it enables self-directed and individualized career exploration and career competency development.
Third, it can be used immediately during class.
You can do the activities in the order of the worksheet.
Fourth, because it was written by current teachers, there is relatively little trial and error that may occur in actual classes.
Fifth, we are introducing various AI tools to broaden the range of experiences for teachers and students.

What do you think? It's a bit scary, but wouldn't you want to use AI in your career exploration classes right away? If you still have any fears, I hope you'll consider overcoming them together with your students.
Because our children, who will live in the future society, are teachers' companions.
We'll be cheering you on as you embark on your journey toward new classes and challenges.
