This book is a culmination of 15 years of mentoring secrets from Director Lee Byeong-hun, who is actively working as a representative study mentor in Korea.
From English kindergarten to college entrance exams, we've included as much detailed information as possible about what parents want to know.
For parents who want to raise their children to be studious, we divide the period from infancy to the first year of high school into five periods and tell them what parents need to do.
Each period is again divided into two parts.
Part 1 presents the characteristics of each growth stage and effective study methods accordingly, and Part 2 presents study goals to be achieved for each subject.
It quenches all your questions about studying, such as whether you can skip English kindergarten and just teach your child English, when and how to do critical thinking math and calculations, how much study time is appropriate per day, what to prepare to get into a school district, how motivation differs depending on MBTI, what to do when burnout occurs in adolescence, and which high school is best to choose depending on your humanities or science inclination.
Let's hear from Director Lee Byeong-hun, the #1 learning management consultant in broadcasting and media, about how to raise a child who studies well.

Into the book
Regardless of the teacher you have, you need to be able to read the problems in critical thinking math.
If you approach a child who cannot even read properly with the obsessive belief that he or she must start learning critical thinking math at the age of 6 or 7, he or she may end up hating math to the extreme.
During this period, the key is to understand the child's receptive capacity and tendencies and to stimulate appropriate interest.
From the age of 6 or 7 before entering elementary school to the first or second grade of elementary school, children have no choice but to be exposed to a wide variety of things.
What was your goal when you started introducing solid foods?
To help you develop good eating habits, you may have implemented a plan that focuses on the five major nutrients and prevents picky eating.
The same goes for studying during this time.
It's like a weaning period that helps you develop study habits.
You have to find ingredients that will give you a taste of everything you study and whet your appetite.

---p.25 From "Creating Study Emotions in the 1st Period"

At this stage, if you can't develop the habit of reading a book from start to finish, don't want your mother to read to you, and hate reading on your own even more, you should seek help from an essay writing academy or reading program.
If you ask me if it is absolutely necessary to do so, I can only answer, 'Of course!'
That is why 'reading books alone' is so important during this period that it is absolutely necessary to develop the habit.
I have to study all four major areas of math, including critical thinking, math and operations, textbook math, and English, so I don't have time. I'm not unfamiliar with Korean, but I just pass on reading books. If I do this, reading books will become increasingly difficult.
Reading independence is as important as literacy.
This is because the ability to study independently and independently begins to sprout from reading independence.
You need to constantly stimulate your child to read a lot of books on their own and ask questions about things they don't know, so that they can build a close relationship with the text.

---p.44 From "Creating Study Emotions in the 1st Period"

Every child has an inner self-direction.
If you wait, the child's impatience to wait will gradually dry up his or her self-initiative.
“Just study, and I’ll take care of everything.” These words are poisonous to a child.
Experience of failure and deficiency is also necessary.
To study well, you need brains, habits, persistence, emotional control, empathy, problem-solving skills, etc.
How can parents put all that in?
Starting in the third or fourth grade of elementary school, we must gradually move away from equating children's experiences with those of their parents and give them opportunities to grow on their own.

---p.84 From "Creating Study Habits for the 2nd Period"

From now on, we need to study 'correct English'.
Many children go to English kindergartens, are good at free-talking, and can read original texts, but when grammar begins, they often dislike English.
When I was young, I read Harry Potter without realizing how much time passed, and I was so into Frozen that I sang the song "Let it go, let it go" and had fun learning, but then suddenly in middle school, I had trouble adapting to the infinitive, gerund, verb, tense, voice, auxiliary verb, etc. that came up.
So, if you enjoy reading English books and have reached a fairly high level, one way is to develop your ability to put the English you have in your head into sentences through writing.
Starting with relatively easy sentences, you will learn the necessary grammar by adding and developing vocabulary, and while reviewing what you have learned, you will find a connection with English for entrance exams.

---p.85 From "Creating Study Habits for the 2nd Period"

ISTJs don't lie, and they think logically and realistically.
I think detailed planning and master planning are very important.
You feel psychologically comfortable when you move according to plan, and just making a plan motivates you, and when you put it into practice, you feel a sense of accomplishment.
They are good at studying because they have a strong sense of responsibility and a strong desire to see things through to completion.
For example, if you don't finish your homework, you feel stressed.
When I make a schedule, I tend to be meticulous and plan it out in units of hours.
This is the most common type among top students.
However, while they are careful and meticulous, they lack quick thinking and creativity.
So, when an unexpected situation arises, you may be flustered.
When taking a test, if you are not prepared for a new type of problem or a killer question that you are solving for the first time, you often panic and cannot solve even the problems you know.

---p.109 From "Creating Study Habits for the 2nd Period"

ESTJ child and INFP parent.

ESTJs believe that others should be like them, so they may ignore or even show hostility toward those with opposing views.
In contrast, INFP parents have excellent empathy and value the feelings of others.
Because children with a strong sense of reality and parents with strong emotional tendencies meet, there are many cases where the parents are 'controlled by their children'.
As children enter puberty or enter high school, parental advice and coaching may no longer be effective, so it may be better to try indirect coaching through a mentor of a similar type to your child.

---p.116 From "Creating Study Habits for the 2nd Period"

If parents choose a school district with the vague hope that they can just meticulously set up private education and have their children go to and from academies without a break, they may fail.
If a child who is the subject of study makes a choice without any desire to study or sense of purpose, the child's stress can reach extreme levels.
Since you are good at everything, you should also consider the difficulty of getting good grades.
However, for children who are easily swayed by the atmosphere, a school district can be a good alternative.
Since there are no exams from elementary school to the first year of middle school, it is not easy to create a study atmosphere in the current situation where children only go to school without any study consciousness.
The learning atmosphere of the school district can have a positive influence on children by creating an atmosphere where everyone studies together.
Also, children who work hard but do not get good grades need to experience school districts.
Private education programs in school districts are also highly competitive because they require good grades to maintain their status.
It provides effective study methods and conditions that lead to good grades, so it gives good results to hard-working children.
The experience of achieving good results once becomes the driving force to keep trying.

---p.144 From "Creating Study Habits for the 2nd Period"

The reason why the 5th and 6th grades of elementary school, which correspond to the 3rd period of study, are important is because once study inertia is broken, it is much more difficult to reverse it.
Inertia, as you know, is the property of returning to its original place.
Even if you get bored of studying, want to hang out with friends, or cut down on going to the academy, the attitude or state of mind that returns to the same place and tries to somehow continue studying is called study inertia.
However, once the study inertia is broken, it takes at least 1 or 2 years, or at most 5 or 6 years, to feel like studying again.
Repeated attempts and N-time attempts are common, and in the case of men, it is common to study for the CSAT again after military service.
When will it end?
When will the studies end? Parents want to live their own lives, so they don't want to support their children's studies until they are over 30.
Many parents just let their children go because it is difficult to deal with conflict with them.
It's not independence, it's avoidance.
A sense of resignation may arise in one corner of the mind, thinking, 'I don't know, he'll figure it out.'
Are you out of your mind to take out a loan for private tutoring? You're only in the 5th grade, aren't you pushing yourself too hard? Isn't 6th grade the last time you'll be hanging out with friends? You'll figure it out when you get to middle school. You're all right.
It was like that when our parents' generation was studying.
You need to think about why you are studying.

---p.151 From "Making the Third Period Independent"

If before, questions and interests were external, from this point on, questions and interests begin to turn inward.
Another characteristic that appears during puberty is the formation of self-identity.
A period of 'psychological revolution' where new experiences and explorations are attempted.
You begin to wonder and question what kind of person you will become later, and in the process, your identity gradually takes shape.
Because one's outlook on life is formed through self-identity, it would be good to provide education on 'career aptitude' during this period.
The so-called humanities and science tendencies become more evident, and talents are discovered.
There are also children who suddenly become eager to study.
We also see mature children whose horizons begin to broaden and whose eyes open to reality.

---p.158 From “Making the Third Period Independent”

Daily planning is good, but it would be better to develop planning habits that are actually helpful.
On the left side, write down your plan for the day, and on the right side, use it as a space to write down what you studied.
For example, let's say you studied hard for the 'natural number ÷ fraction' performance assessment assignment at school.
Then, based on what you have studied hard, write down what you know about 'natural number ÷ fraction' on the right without looking at the book.
This is a method of verifying whether the 'input process of studying' has become your own through the 'output process of confirming'.
The more you try, the more you can tell if the input process is done correctly.
In other words, you can check how much and how you studied.
The most recommended independent study method, regardless of age, anytime, anywhere, is to start from scratch and write with only keywords.
As you write, you will realize what you don't know, whether you have learned the concepts, and how much you know.

---p.171 From "Making the Third Period Independent"

Currently, in the first year of middle school in Korea, the exams are slightly different for each school, but most of them are focused on performance assessments or unit assessments, and do not include written assessments for actual subjects.
As a result, it is difficult to know exactly what your academic level is.
Since there are no exams, I live my middle school life happily and enjoyably, but when I suddenly have to take a test in my second year, I panic and can't respond well.
On the other hand, because middle school is an absolute evaluation system, some students become complacent because they did well on the test.
Students who are known to be smart are often called gifted in elementary school and receive straight A's in middle school.
However, if you do not prepare properly for high school during this period, you may fall behind in the high school course, where you take nationwide mock exams and your grades become much more difficult.
To avoid going through this process, some preparation is necessary.

---p.206 From "Getting the Most Out of Your 4th Period Study"

The second written test in the second semester of the third year of middle school is related to the part where most of the difficult questions that students find difficult in high school are tested.
This is like getting your high school grades in advance.
In conclusion, the second written test scores in the second semester of the third year of middle school are a very important test as they serve as the foundation for a successful entrance exam strategy.
---p.263 From "Getting Students Immersed in Studying in the 5th Period"

Publisher's Review
There is no college entrance exam success without a parental strategy.

Why has Daechi-dong even created an elementary school medical school preparatory class? Is it okay to join this extremely elite preparatory program? Is my child born with a talent for studying? I dedicate two-thirds of my day to studying, even sparing time for sleep and food, but why aren't my grades improving? Study methods that will boost your grades by even a single point, customized memorization techniques that will take you from last place to the top, how to use your error notebook as a study journal, how to create a schedule appropriate for each age group, and even a six-week, five-times-a-week exam prep routine.
This book provides parents with a 15-year roadmap showing the process and learning methods needed for their children, from English kindergarten to college entrance preparation.
No parent will put off their child's education until later if they have a roadmap.

To become a parent who leaves no regrets about your child's education

Since parents have no choice but to also play the role of educators until the age of 6 or 7 or until the first or second grade of elementary school, the parental attitude towards raising children has the greatest influence on the formation of various habits and emotions, including studying.
If you want to make studying a habit, you must first develop a positive attitude toward studying.
It takes time and effort, just like practicing using chopsticks.
Without this close time with parents, it is impossible to raise a child who studies.
When our parents were growing up, it was possible to 'figure it out when the time comes', but for children today, it's a start when we teach them what's important.
Parents who know how to teach their children that studying is a light that guides them through the important tunnel of life will not leave them with regrets about studying.

Children study, but parents are responsible for creating a learning atmosphere.

Creating study habits that even adults find difficult requires no flexibility.
As you advance in grade level, the amount of studying and activities increase.
The child may be tired or may come home late.
In such cases, you shouldn't say, "Is it hard? Can't you do it? Then take a break."
Even though they are young, we must instill in them the awareness that they must do it without compromise, even if it is difficult, and that they have no choice but to do it.
Only then will self-initiative begin to form, little by little.
It's never too late to study, and it's never too late to study.
The choices parents make should be for their children, not for themselves.

In South Korea, the path to success is narrower than studying.

A celebrity's beauty and talent, a YouTuber's sincerity and passion, and a webtoon artist's fun and income are the result of trading off study and talent.
God gave 99% of ordinary children the talent to study, not any other talent.
Some people regret not studying hard in school, but no one regrets studying hard, graduating from a good university, and getting a good job.
At least in Korea, a good academic background and academic qualifications do not lead to regrets.
People who study hard will work hard at everything they do.
So we need to teach our children that they need to study even more like crazy.

Sky Roadmap to Top Class

Hoping that your children will grow up happily while working hard at their jobs without the stress of studying is similar to wanting to earn money without working.
No matter how much you regret at the threshold of the college entrance exam, regret will only bring more tuition fees and pain.
Sitting at your desk for a long time doesn't guarantee good grades.
The most important thing is an efficient study method that can help you get even one more point and full support from your parents.
To get into the top class, parents need to have a study roadmap and look at the whole picture so that their children don't get lost on the 15-year study path.
If you know your child and know yourself, there is no such thing as a failed college entrance exam.

Content structure

Prologue: 9 Reasons to Study

It talks about the various values that can be gained through studying during your teenage years.
It introduces how the experiences gained through studying can be useful even as an adult, and makes you realize how valuable the people you meet through studying are.
Even parents who have a strong prejudice against the Daechi-dong style of studying or who are indifferent to their children's learning will come to feel the true necessity of studying.

1st period: Developing study habits (ages 6-7 - 1st and 2nd grades)

Since you have to study for 15 years, you have to get used to the study mindset during this time.
Study Emotion Study emotion refers to a child's psychological and emotional attitude toward studying.
A child with a stable emotional state for studying does not resist being told to study, and has the self-control to suppress the urge to play and open a book.
If you don't have the motivation to study, you will become more and more distant from studying as you advance in grade level.
The learning gap widens dramatically in first-grade classrooms.
At ages 6 and 7, various experiences are effective, and in the first and second grades of elementary school, thinking skills such as math, English phonics, and short reading are effective.
★ We need to establish an objective indicator to evaluate children using the TCI temperament and personality test.

2nd Period: Developing Study Habits for 3rd and 4th Graders

Full-scale subject learning begins.
At most, you should finish thinking math or phonics in the 3rd or 4th grade of elementary school, and you should stick to the textbooks.
The appropriate amount of time to study alone is 30 minutes x your grade level.
This is a time when you need to be careful because if you don't establish a habit at this time, your studies may regress again.
Their humanities and science tendencies gradually begin to emerge, and they begin to break away from their parents and take interest in other things.
We need to broaden our thinking through post-reading activities and help students find their own study style.
Since this is a time when a child's personality is revealed, motivation for studying is approached in a different way.
★ You should have a study motivation method that suits your child through the MBTI test.

3rd term: Encouraging independent study in 5th and 6th grade elementary school students

During this period, you should be able to sit at your desk alone and study for at least two hours.
You should make your child study independently so that he or she has at least two hours of time to study alone, excluding going to the academy or studying with his or her mother.
Through the mind map study method, you train yourself to internalize what you study.
To prepare for middle school, you must master English textbook grammar and math basic operations.
★If you determine your aptitude for humanities and science through the Wechsler Intelligence Scale, it will be of great help in planning your career path.
The roadmap for top-tier liberal arts and science majors starts with choosing a high school.

4th Period Study Practicality for 1st and 2nd Year Middle School Students

This is the time when what you have studied so far will be revealed as your skills in front of everyone.
You have to manage your child so that he or she gets good grades on tests and does not tarnish his or her identity as a 'good student'.
No matter how hard you study, if your grades don't improve, all the hard work you've put in so far will be for nothing.
Contains secrets to getting good grades on tests.
It also includes information related to high school admissions, including nationwide private high schools, school district-based specialized high schools, and foreign language high schools.
★ You must set a target high school and design a roadmap accordingly.

5th grade study immersion (3rd year middle school, 1st year high school)

It includes various secrets on how to achieve the level of study completion required for each subject, how to study like a high school student, how to prepare for burnout, and practical study methods up to 5 readings in 6 weeks.
You can also get information on the changing curriculum along with explanations of the high school credit system and the current entrance examination system.
★ An explanation of the 2028 college entrance exam system, which will be different from the current one, is included.
