Into the book
“My dream of one day living in the countryside began a long time ago when I first encountered my love of herbs and spices when I went to Japan to study cooking.
When I returned to Korea and started cooking various dishes, I needed fresh herbs that were difficult to find in Korea at the time. After tasting a freshly harvested cucumber one day, I became even more eager to grow my own vegetables.
So my wife and I decided to move to the countryside where we had some land where we could grow our own herbs and vegetables.
The first thing I did after moving was to create a kitchen garden with vegetables, various berries, and herbs.

Before that, neither my husband nor I had ever lived in the countryside and had never grown vegetables or herbs.
So, I decided not to overdo it from the beginning, and not to try to harvest a lot or grow all the crops.
As we gradually discovered and cultivated plants that thrived in the land we lived in, we experienced the joy of harvesting without much effort, and gained confidence.
Growing crops myself and preserving food in various ways naturally became fun, and I also discovered the joy of sharing what I've saved with those around me.

My husband and I started our country life without any fear and without knowing anything, and this year is already our 28th year.
Even now, when I open my eyes in the morning, I enjoy the scenery that looks different every time, and the first thing I do is look around the kitchen garden.
This book contains stories of fresh vegetables and herbs grown in my seasonal garden, the joys of growing and harvesting berries, and my little tips from living in the countryside.
“I want to share with you the garden that resembles nature and the small joys I find in everyday life.”
