In the AI era, special career coaching from top mentors.
Description
Book Introduction
In this day and age, your own content is more important than your college diploma!
In the AI Era, Parents Need to Prepare a Career Roadmap for Their Children
A highly practical and realistic guide from a teacher with 35 years of experience.
This book is a comprehensive career planning guide for teenagers and their parents living in the age of artificial intelligence.
Drawing on his extensive experience in education and at universities, the author offers unflinching and unvarnished advice for success in a rapidly changing job market.
You will find clear career solutions that will help you face the reality you have never heard of before.
It encourages people to spend money on things they are willing to do, and emphasizes the importance of choosing a career that suits the demands of the money-driven market, rather than simply acquiring culture or knowledge.
While the title of a prestigious university is certainly important when choosing a career, it's crucial to first focus on whether the program is a good fit for your individual learning ability, family background, and personality. Numerous consulting cases have proven that opportunities will come your way if you continuously develop yourself and improve your attitude to enhance your competitiveness.
We also analyze the impact of artificial intelligence on the future job market and discuss new occupations and technological innovations that will emerge in the AI era.
The author emphasizes that literacy skills, such as reading comprehension, are essential for survival as AI threatens jobs, and details why young people need to develop these skills.
It introduces promising future jobs in various fields such as robotics, bio, and energy, and helps design realistic career paths for the MZ generation.
The author uses several examples to address the various concerns that parents and students face in the process of finding their children's career paths.
He offers sincere advice on common concerns of young people, such as "I have no dreams" or "I don't know my aptitude," and suggests ways to reflect on oneself and realistically design a career path.
On the one hand, the author warns that the seemingly empty promise of "find something you enjoy that suits your interests and aptitude" can actually hinder young people's future.
This book will serve as a practical compass for parents who coach their adolescent children and their career paths, enabling them to take responsibility for their own lives in a rapidly changing future society.

Epilogue_ If I Raised a Child Again

Into the book
** The path of life can be summarized as 'BD4C'.
That is, life between birth and death is made up of 4Cs (Chance, Choice, Challenge, Change).
We are faced with countless opportunities throughout our lives.
It's about choosing that opportunity, taking on that challenge, and in the process, changing yourself to achieve your desired goal.
You never know when or what opportunity will come, so you have to be prepared at all times.
You also need to be able to collaborate with others to take advantage of opportunities.
However, many parents often take a simple approach when guiding their children's career paths.
** When I talk about career paths, I recommend that people do things that pay easily.
I don't recommend careers that don't make money or that involve things that people won't open their wallets for.
Some would say that life is wonderful when you live doing what you want to do.
I agree with that statement too.
But to do what you want to do, you have to get to a point where other people can pay you to do it.
Otherwise, it would be foolish to insist on doing only what you want to do.
To those who simply tell you to do what you want to do, I would like to say this:
“Are you willing to continue doing your current job even if you don’t get paid?”
** It is not enough to just have a vague desire to do something or become something.
Society must accept my dreams for them to become reality.
Career paths are determined by individual aspirations, but the outcomes vary depending on social demands.
An individual's career aspirations that are not based on social needs are likely to end up as nothing more than vain hopes.
Failure to identify social needs can lead to economic hardship, and when faced with financial difficulties, it can be difficult to find and take on new opportunities.
** Professor Todd Rose of Harvard University, author of “The End of Average,” says that the era of average is over.
Nowadays, individualized abilities are more important than average abilities.
The experience of being the best in one subject, the experience of being the best in one field, leads to other opportunities.
Each career path is not separate from the others, but rather they are connected by a string that makes you good at one thing and makes you good at the others.
If you do one thing well, new opportunities in nearby areas often come your way.
** The world cannot be lived alone, and success is rare on your own.
This can be done through connecting with, being selected for, or collaborating with someone who has influence.
Therefore, you must have the initiative and conditions to create a network with your talents, content, and personality.
** Therefore, if I had to develop one skill in this rapidly changing era, I would like to emphasize to students that they should first develop reading comprehension skills.
Because learning new skills can help you get a job.
You can learn not only technical skills but also social soft skills through books.
Reading a book allows you to understand, feel, empathize, and immerse yourself in the story, allowing you to consider other people's perspectives and develop communication skills.
** Even if you graduate from a good university, you need to prepare for the changing labor market to get the job you want.
Even if you have similar qualifications to others, you must have your own competitiveness.
Lastly, even if you have the same conditions as others, your performance and evaluation will differ depending on your personality, attitude, habits, and communication skills.
The company is not a school, but a battlefield for survival.
The reality is different from what teenagers and their parents think.
The world doesn't turn the way they think it does.
The world moves with each person pursuing his or her own interests.
It seems like we often waste time and money when we need to face reality and prepare properly.
** Representative occupations of each era are those that attract excellent students because they satisfy various factors such as stability, income, and social recognition of the era.
To engage in this profession, you need to be skilled and read the trends of the times.
You must have the ability to meet the standards required by society and companies, and this cannot be achieved through your own thinking alone.
We must prepare for the future based on thorough preparation and skills.
Learning economics and investing will also be essential.
** Artificial intelligence technology is developing, industrial structures are changing, young people's employment tendencies and motivation for work are changing, and the population is decreasing by half.
What can we do in this changing climate to ensure a decent living and achieve financial independence without poverty? What occupations offer better employment prospects than others?
** I wish there were more students who were good at self-discipline.
I hope that all young people in Korea, including the students I teach, have this attitude.
It is difficult for a person to develop beyond the level of seeing himself.
So, first of all, you have to be confident in yourself.
That attitude will take me to a higher place than I am now.
** Aptitude may vary depending on individual circumstances, and may also vary depending on effort and training.
I believe that the essence of a job is economic activity for making a living, that is, survival.
Therefore, when looking for a job, while interests and aptitudes are important, you should choose one that reflects your future vision, desires, and a high probability of survival.
** Interests and aptitudes are not fixed but change depending on the situation.
Interest and aptitude are shown by the fact that the better you do something, the better you become at it, so it is shown that you have interest and aptitude for that thing.
The degree to which it is expressed for survival varies depending on the situation an individual is in.
You should develop your skills while thinking about your interests and aptitudes.
As efforts accumulate, results emerge, and those results create opportunities.
** When I guide youth career paths, I define a 'dream' as the standard of life one wants to enjoy.
A dream is not just a job, but also includes your economic status, who you associate with, what you do for a living, where you want to live, your hobbies, your family structure, and what kind of leisure and values you pursue in life.
All of this is the dream I am talking about.

Publisher's Review
Career Essay by Dr. Bae Sang-gi, Korea's Leading Career Coaching Expert
Life Mentor, which holds about 100 career guidance lectures every year
Career Coaching for Your Child to Succeed Beyond College
The author of this book, Dr. Sang-ki Bae, is recognized by all as the best youth career coaching expert in Korea.
Not only did he gain practical experience working with students contemplating their futures for a long time as a high school career guidance teacher, but he also conducted academic research with a doctorate in education from Seoul National University Graduate School and is currently working as the director of the College Advancement Support Center at the Korea Council for University Education.
He also helps parents find a stable future for their children by holding more than 100 career guidance lectures every year.
In particular, in the future of the artificial intelligence era, where rapid changes unprecedented in human history await, we have been focusing on how our youth can find career paths that will allow them to achieve both stable livelihoods and self-fulfillment, and what preparations they should make for this.
And I have compiled the results of my research, consulting cases, and my own insights into this book.
The author asks in the introduction of the book:
“We live in a capitalist society.
We often see a natural trend of capital being concentrated in promising fields.
To help children realize their dreams and live fulfilling lives, it is important to nurture their interests and competencies at the heart of these changes.
In particular, the advent of the artificial intelligence era is rapidly changing the future job and industrial landscape.
So, what preparations should we make now to ensure our children's success in their future careers, and what fields should we cultivate their interest in?"
"Children's career concerns must change in the AI era."
To develop real skills to compete with AI
What should I prepare?
Hack the secrets of a career that will permeate the AI society!
The author bluntly declares that people should do things they are willing to spend money on.
He also says frankly that it is better to save the tuition and prepare for the future rather than going to a regular university that will not realistically help you in life after graduation.
We don't tell you empty stories like, "If you do what you love, a prosperous future awaits you."
Rather than being obsessed with something you like that has no future, I advise you to do something that you are a little better at than others.
He emphasizes that if you do something you are good at, you can receive compensation that guarantees a living, and if you live your life with a stable income, you will feel a sense of accomplishment and come to like what you do.
This book is a must-read career planning guide for young people and their parents who will live in the age of artificial intelligence.
Drawing on his extensive experience in the educational field, the author emphasizes that "in order to succeed in the rapidly changing job market driven by AI, developing the skills needed in society is more important than simply obtaining a degree."
It also provides specific guidance on how young people can achieve economic independence and prove their individual worth through their own content in the future.
It emphasizes that going to college is not the only path to career success, and teaches students the importance of literacy and relationship skills as a path to stable success.
This book contains career coaching for youth necessary in the age of artificial intelligence. It will serve as a useful guide for guiding children's career paths in an uncertain reality where rapid technological change makes it difficult to predict what the future holds.
