An Essential Guide to Teaching Korean to Foreigners

As the number of Korean language learners has increased recently, learners who were only at the beginner level are now reaching advanced and top-level levels, and as a result, the demand for learning Korean grammar is growing.
In line with this, various grammar textbooks have been published, but few of them specifically explain the selection process for grammar items or present knowledge information for individual grammar items in a systematic framework.

The Korean Language Education Grammar-Materials section calculated the overlap between grammar items appearing in Korean language education materials such as Korean language textbooks and Korean language proficiency tests, and investigated the frequency in the general Korean corpus and the Korean language education material corpus to select grammar items essential for Korean language education.


In addition, grammar items were divided into categories and each item was explained in detail from the morphological, semantic, grammatical, and discursive aspects so that learners could develop appropriate language skills suitable for communication situations by knowing the meaning and usage context of each grammar item and develop accurate communication skills by knowing various restrictions (such as morphological, grammatical, and discursive restrictions) on the use of each grammar item.

- Morphological information : Contains morphological information and morphological information according to part of speech that learners need to know when using the grammar.
