Earl Nightingale, who had a poor childhood, pondered deeply why some people were rich and others were not.
One day, while I was reading a book and thinking about how to become rich, I realized the secret.
It is said that 'people become what they think about'.

Readers who have read this book have left comments saying that they read it again whenever things don't work out.

Into the book
A magical word that encompasses the whole world.
Thoughts are reality! I encourage you to ponder this statement as you read Earl's book.
Thought is the most powerful force in the universe.
If we learn how to make our thoughts work for us, we can live the life we want.

--- p.11

You can't change reality right now, but you can change your thoughts.
We have the ability to discover the infinite potential within us, cultivate it, and transform any situation.
I am poor now, but if I choose to think, 'I will become a happy rich person!', I will become rich.
If you only lament your own life while envying your friends who have a lot of money around them, you will never escape poverty.
My life changes depending on what thoughts I choose!
--- p.19

As I was reading the book, I suddenly realized that I had been reading the same truth for a long time.
I read it in the New Testament, in the words of Buddha, in the writings of Lao Tzu and Emerson.
Suddenly, what I had been searching for for 17 years appeared in one sentence.
It was a surprising truth that 'people become what they think about.'
It felt like a bright light was surrounding me.
Of course! The moment that simple truth occurred to me, I sat up straight.
The great Spanish philosopher Jose Ortega y Gasset also meant this when he said that humans are the only creatures on Earth born without a sense of direction in the world.

--- p.37

We become what we think.
If you know what kind of person you want to be, you will become that person.
The power of visualization is immeasurable.
We become what we expect.
Unfortunately, only a few people have expectations that match their true potential.
--- p.64

We each have our own unique DNA double helix structure.
Like it or not, every person is an individual.
We have genes that are different from those of anyone who has ever existed or will ever exist on Earth.
That's true.
No one in the universe has exactly the same combination of genes as me.
You could think of yourself as a painting.
Our parents and thousands of our ancestors added paint to that picture.
After you are born, your environment begins to add to the picture.
That complex work determines your way of thinking.
What you can do or want is different from what I can do or want.
People have different abilities and different wants.
So not everyone does or wants the same thing.
The rich genetic heritage we inherit gives each of us a wide range of choices, and a free society gives us free choices.
The better our childhood environment, the better our education, the better our parents educated us, the wider the spectrum of possibilities we are exposed to as we grow up.
But when chosen randomly, the odds are 95 to 5.
There is a 95% chance that you don't have an ideal background.
--- p.46~47

But we must also remember this fact.
The compensation we receive will be directly proportional to the service we provide to others throughout our lives.
If the services I provide are drastically limited, my income will also decrease drastically.
As I expand and multiply my services, my harvest also multiplies.
The world revolves around the principle of service-reward.
Individuals may follow or reject this system, but the principle remains unchanged.
If we start moving with this system, really cool things will happen.
The one who limits it is himself.
We have control over this system.
If the service-reward system is blocked, you are blocking it yourself.

--- p.87

If you don't have a goal, it's like having a boat but nowhere to go.
Goals provide the drive and energy you need to stay on track until you achieve what you want.
Like the captain of a ship just leaving port, we must be able to say with certainty where our next port of call will be, and perhaps even our next destination.
Anyone who has been on a boat a lot knows that at first the boat moves very slowly.
In an age when it's common to drive a car at 100 or 110 kilometers per hour while eating lunch or to zoom across the sky at 1,000 kilometers per hour, a ship leaving its dock and heading to another port at 40 kilometers per hour feels frustratingly slow.
But the ship moves steadily, without resting, 24 hours a day, without deviating from its set course.
The unwavering persistence towards a single goal builds up and takes you to your next port of call in a surprisingly short time.
One day, you see the coast in the distance and before you know it, you have arrived at the port.
Mission accomplished.
You must refuel and stay in port as scheduled, while deciding on a new port of call for your next destination.

--- p.99~100

My habit of encouraging myself to “keep going with persistence” has borne fruit.
Persistence always works.
The world is full of people who try new things to get out of a slump, only to give up after repeated trials and rejections.
What's even more surprising is the sheer number of people who try to start a business, fail, retreat, and never try again.
Isn't it obvious that achieving success in business is more difficult than learning to ski or the piano? Of course, there's a high chance of failure at first (it's part of the learning process), but that doesn't mean you should give up.
We learn something important from every failure.
The difference between winners and losers lies in the persistence to not give up.
All good and beneficial things require 'persistence in continuing'.
Failure doesn't mean the world will end.
If that were the case, humans would not have been able to learn to walk, talk, ride a bicycle, or study.
When we are young, we accept failure as a natural part of life, but as we become adults, we become more conscious of failure.
I worry about what my friends and people around me will think.
Persistence is another word for faith!

Publisher's Review
How to achieve your goals even when you have no money and in a recession
The first step begins with thinking.

Earl Nightingale's message, which was loved by many and sold 1 million copies immediately after its publication, has returned as 'A Man Is What He Thinks'.
We dream of success, but why do so few achieve it? Many people diligently plan, yet fail to execute.
What could be the reason? Is it really just a lack of concrete planning, a lack of effort, or a lack of willpower? Earl Nightingale, the author of this book, spent a long time pondering and researching the secrets of successful people.
The result was a very simple but surprising realization: we become what we think.
It is also said that our mind is the steering wheel that guides our life.
People have a lot of thoughts every day, but they don't have much time to focus completely on their goals.

A person who has a goal to focus his thoughts and pour his heart into moves toward that goal.
Even while you sleep, your subconscious mind never stops thinking about achieving your goals.
That's why sometimes during the day, a solution to a problem you've been pondering for a long time suddenly comes to mind.
Successful people always think.
That thought is the key to success.
If you read this book and follow Earl Nightingale's advice, you will gain not only material wealth but also happiness and peace of mind.

Everything you think becomes reality!
If you don't start
In the end, nothing happens.

If everything we imagine could actually happen, would anything really be possible? Just because you wish you had superpowers or a cloud of money falling from the sky, it doesn't mean it will actually happen.
So then, does it mean that what you think will happen?

Earl Nightingale says that unsuccessful people think, "I want to be rich!" or "I wish I had a lot of money," but they don't think specifically about how or what they will do to make money and become rich.
If we knew that our thoughts could change everything, the author advises, we should act.
Our actions are a matter of habit.
Even the best behaviors that help you achieve success come from habits.
People tend to have a habit of aligning their perspective on the world with their actions.

What we do and how we do it are matters of personal choice.
Humans are the only creatures on Earth who can choose what to do and how to do it.
Saying 'yes' to the world leads to excellence.
"okay.
If you repeatedly tell yourself, “I will do my best at that,” you will develop a habit of excellence.
Excellence is a wonderful way to say yes to life.
Excellence always brings us joy.
It also allows you to enjoy the time you spend living.

Success is something we attract.
If you want to succeed, you must set firm goals and have a strong belief that you can achieve them.
Time passes whether we challenge ourselves to succeed or not.
If you don't give up and persevere and challenge yourself, you will eventually get everything you want.
Because successful people are not those who don't have problems, but those who have learned how to solve them.
If you follow Earl Nightingale's advice step by step, you will soon find yourself enjoying wealth and success.
