Book Introduction
“Just reading this will elevate your status.”
The book that became the cornerstone of the best-selling "Dasan's Last" series.
The dawn study path, "Millennium of Internal Strength," returns after seven years.

When everyone looks to an adult they can lean on
The inner strength of a 'real adult' who knows how to open the dawn on his own

In a world where it's becoming increasingly difficult to navigate life, and where everyone is busy finding their own way to survive, the values and principles we once considered essential to human existence are crumbling everywhere.
We are constantly searching for someone to shape and guide our world, but due to the absence of an adult for everyone to follow, people have begun to project their passions and look to those they can lean on as "adults."

There are many complaints that there are no adults in this era, but no one looks to adults as objects and makes any commitments or attempts to change to live like an adult.
This book responds to the wandering of our times and guides us to awaken ourselves to a life worthy of adulthood.
"Millennium of Internal Strength," which suggested "dawn study" to grow into an adult with inner strength seven years ago, has been updated with a new cover and text in 2023, guiding you on a path to life that easily overcomes the daily turmoil.

Author Jo Yoon-je confidently states that this book was the cornerstone of the 'Dasan's Last' series, which was loved by 300,000 readers.
Through the newly revamped 『Millennium of Internal Strength』 after seven years, I hope that readers will once again learn what it means to be a dignified yet gentle, soft yet firm adult. I also hope that readers will find their own internal strength in this book, which will allow them to display the extraordinary at the moment they desire through the ordinariness accumulated at every moment.

Introduction: : A time to cultivate inner strength, a time to become an adult.

Grade: A natural level of maturity

Chapter 1: : Turning Back and Correcting Yourself | Seeking Self-Reflection
A life without being cowardly towards oneself, a man of integrity. An adult is someone who can see himself objectively. Hardship is the power that turns a boy into an adult. Take firm and solid steps, even if it is slow. A leader is someone who does not hesitate at the moment of choice. The power to take control of a situation without being bound by it. Everyone has their own secret weapon. Learn from what is right, and use what is wrong as a mirror. Talking is easy, but listening is difficult. Do not become mean or arrogant depending on the situation. Respect is not something that is obtained by force, like begging.

Chapter 2: The world is not divided into victory and defeat | The benevolent are invincible
An adult is someone who shows their back first and opens the way. Words of consideration that break expectations are a great gift. In times of difficulty, a person's character and strength are revealed. The strength of an organization comes from the leader's benevolence. When two people join forces, they can even break iron. People recognize 'class' even if you don't show it yourself. If I am open to listening, everyone's words are right. Successful people have adults who waited for their development. If you do not know how to value others, there is no future. Love, a strength that does not end even when the heavens and the earth run out

Chapter 3: : Humanity is about coexistence and empathy | Blood Map?
When you say one thing and listen to two, you become one. When you look at it more broadly, your scope expands. The power of a single word that considers others by considering yourself. If you want to be treated as an adult, you must treat others as an adult first. You can talk about the future after solving the meal first. A word filled with sincerity has the power to reach out to the other person. You must listen to the sobs that come from deep within your heart. You can say goodbye beautifully only when you leave when people applaud. Comfort is not advice, but confession and empathy.

Chi: Depth that controls the surroundings and shows the way

Chapter 4: : A pure mind allows one to see far ahead.
To have one conviction, you must prepare ten thousand times. The power lies not in achieving success, but in challenging again. Greatness begins with common and trivial things. The secret of the master who was able to prepare ten thousand times is enjoyment. When you discipline yourself clearly in a complex problem, your thoughts will reach far. If you take a step back and observe yourself, you will see the answer. If you have an ideal you want to achieve, go up one level. When a magpie spreads its wings, you cannot dare to guess how far it will fly. A leader manages the situation with composure and sensitivity even in urgent situations.

Chapter 5: : Carrying out justice requires impartiality | The Great Public Selflessness
Values and morals that destroy everything with petty compromises. If I don't do right, no one will follow. A strong organization is not the sum of multiple elements, but a large singular entity. The more urgent the situation, the more you must swing it rather than be swayed. Networking is not something you seek out, but something you allow to come to you. An adult is a confident person with confidence in their own beliefs. A leader is the loneliest position in a group. A bird must have wings on both sides to fly.

Chapter 6: Teaching and Learning Grow Together | Teaching and Learning Mutually Grow
The courage to learn new things and not hesitate to ask questions, and to accept and then apply them to my own learning.
Studying is something that you can digest and pour out. It is wise, kind, and brave, and ordinary.
But it is a virtue that is difficult to practice, and the courage to say you don't know what you don't know is the wisdom of an adult.
True learning is when you can say you have improved since yesterday. Being a human is not something you are born with, but something you learn over time. Life is short, so learning must be long. Studying is a process of striving to align my will with my daily life. A good sentence is a state of mind built up after imitating countless good writings. The rings that form over time are the true fruits of study.

Chapter 7: A Trick in a Crisis | Wisdom in Hand
The power to complement rationality and fairness, sensibility. An adult is someone who can talk about a crisis when they are at peace. A leader is not an unshakable being, but one who cannot be shaken. Words call for the future and determine a person's character. Straightforward words that awaken the spirit. Do not teach the right answer, but let them figure it out for themselves. If they have a strong will, a person will not be broken. A crisis is an opportunity to look into the depths of humanity. If you get caught up in small things, you will miss the big things.

Qi: A strong force that can be suppressed in a single word

Chapter 8: Knowing how to get angry is wisdom | 叱咤
Be angry like an adult and rule like an adult. The fatal enemy that destroys the organization is me.
It is bound to be in wealth. If you are not righteous, you should not even mention its name. To be human, you must have uncompromising values. Dream boldly and express it carefully. When rebuking rudeness, you must do so with a dignified air. Conceding to small injustice invites great injustice. Only the experts recognize the experts. An organization survives only when criticism for the sake of criticism is filtered out. Be loud and angry in the face of cowardice.

Chapter 9: Bear the Weight of a Thousand Pieces of Gold | A Word is Worth a Thousand Pieces of Gold
You must be able to distinguish between truth and lies to provide direction. Some words can change someone's life. You can only hope for miracles if you put your heart into it. There is a right time for everything. You can achieve it by engraving it in your heart and declaring it verbally. Success is the result of repeated failures until you succeed. Steel becomes steel only after being hammered and heated. The extraordinary lies in the ordinary. Adults should be able to give each other a motto.

Chapter 10: Internal energy that penetrates the core in one breath | A sharp, iron-like killer
Words are directed at the listener, not at me. If you are strict with yourself, you can be flexible in certain situations. Blind faith in authority is more dangerous than denying authority. There is no shortcut to becoming an expert. An encounter that can be calculated with numbers is not a relationship. If you want to achieve something, start right now. Surviving is a heavier determination than anything else. Greatness comes from the process, not the goal. Don't be ruled by the rules, but create the rules.

Into the book
Ten years of sharpening a sword, the frost blade has never been tested.
I've been sharpening my sword for ten years, but I've never tested a blade as sharp as frost.

If you want to achieve something in life, you have to take the time to quietly sharpen your knife.
There is no need to spend a long time sharpening a knife for the small task of trimming meat.
But to achieve a grand dream, you must endure pickling for a long time so that you will not be ashamed of that dream.
The accumulated time is called internal energy.
…Since ancient times, when a monarch gives his sword to his general, it means that he is entrusting all authority with firm faith.
If you say this along with the next verse of the poem, “I give you this sword today; who can do anything unfair?”, it will greatly move people’s hearts.
---From "Even if it's slow, take sure and firm steps"

Seeing as if it were the most unusual? As if it were easy to adapt? Cunning and sly, the most grotesque and treacherous.
It looks ordinary, but it stands out in a unique way,
It may seem like it was easy, but it was actually difficult.

The hot topic of our time is differentiation.
However, if you only pursue what is different, you will end up losing the essence.
All people and all things, when they reach their peak, become simple and true to their essence.
Simplicity and natural beauty are the best.
Michelangelo, the great Renaissance artist, said, “Beauty is the removal of all excess.”
A master is someone who has discarded all excess and strengthened himself.
In 『Chaegeundam』, it is written, “The utmost nobility lies in the utmost ordinariness.”
If you want to become an outstanding person, you must do your best in what you are doing now, in your ordinary daily life.
If you try to look good without having the skills, you will end up being a ridiculous person.
It can easily lead to strange results.
“It may seem ordinary, but it is uniquely remarkable; it may seem easy, but it was actually achieved through hardship.” In a world that only pursues outward differences, these are words we need to remember when we reflect on the value of inner fidelity and essence.

---From "The extraordinary lies in the ordinary"

Heavenly beings have the materials to use, and a thousand gold scattered will surely come back to life.
Heaven has given me talent, so it will surely be useful.
If you spend all your gold, it will come back to you.

Although Baek was a poet who sang of a free life that transcended reality, his story about his studies clearly shows that his talent was not solely given by heaven.
It is not the ‘born knowing’ or ‘innate sagehood’ that Confucius spoke of.
He may have been born with talents superior to those of the average person, but the poetry he creates is the result of tremendous effort and training.
Let's look at the story of 'Mabujakchim 磨斧作針', 'sharpening an axe to make a needle', recorded in the Book of Tang.
While Baek-i was taking classes at Sanguisan Mountain, he felt tired of the constant studying and came down from the mountain.
After a while of coming down the mountain, Baek saw an old woman sharpening an axe diligently by the stream and asked her.
“Grandma, what on earth are you doing?” The old woman replied, “I’m sharpening an axe and making needles.”
When the astonished Baek asked reproachfully, “When on earth are you going to sharpen that axe and make a needle out of it?” the old woman replied, “Of course you will.
“If you don’t stop, of course you will be able to do it,” he replied.
Feeling ashamed by the old woman's words, Baek returned to the mountain.
…even a talented person can become frustrated if he or she does not get an opportunity.
Even young people who have worked hard to build up their 'specs' may not be able to find a job, and even those who were considered talented at work may experience failure.
In such cases, they become even more disappointed and eventually give up, as they had more ability and pride.
As adults, we should be able to teach these people the true meaning of suffering and instill in them the wisdom to bide their time.

---From "Success is the result of repeated failures until success"

The great ordinary things do not attain their level and sound
All things weep when they are not at peace.

Today, expression is relatively free.
Even if you are not someone who has the ability to cry easily, don't suppress your emotions inside.
Although it is not a beautiful piece of writing or sentences, it is a vivid expression of anger, even if it is rough.
As an adult, you should be able to see why people cry.
Before we condemn them as dissatisfied with reality and socially inadequate, before we ridicule them as incompetent people who failed in competition, we must listen to their cries.
Above all, you must be able to hear your own cries.
That's what we call self-reflection.
You have to be able to listen to what your heart desires and what it aspires to do, and then do what your heart tells you to do.
The voice of your own heart is something that should be treasured more than any advice or teaching in the world.
If you do what your heart tells you to do, you will have fewer regrets.
“All things weep when they are not at peace.” Li Xianting, considered a pioneer of modern Chinese art, quoted this phrase in an interview with Southern People Weekly as an answer to the question, “How can one evaluate oneself?”
His art is a 'cry' to the world.
---From "You must listen to the sobs that come from deep within your heart"

Publisher's Review
A deep and quiet time just for me, dawn
The great master's overwhelming inner strength comes to me.

Internal energy is a realm that can only be accumulated through the power of time, and it is 'adulthood'.
Maturity is a quality that naturally radiates from one's resolve to face life.
It is a policy that takes root deeply in the midst of storms and firmly controls the surroundings, and it is also a spirit that captures the core in one breath without being swayed by anything.
『Millennium of Internal Energy』 is a book that talks about the deep study that builds the realm of an adult.

In today's world, there are many problems that cannot be solved with shallow talent or innate wit alone.
Only by building up your inner strength can you be given the opportunity to make proper judgments and take responsibility for your choices.
In this book, Chinese scholar Ji Xianlin has extracted the essence of a thousand years of internal energy from classics such as the Analects of Confucius, Mencius, Records of the Grand Historian, Strategies of the Warring States, and Zhuangzi, as well as the historical writings of famous figures from Zhuge Liang to Sun Yat-sen, and explained them in an easy and friendly way.

The profound reflections of sages who sought not to be cowardly, the ferocity of those who risked their entire selves to confront history, the sparkling insights that penetrate the core, and the wisdom that turned crises around! By opening "Millennium of Internal Strength," you will encounter true elders who will elevate your own status.

Grade: A natural level of maturity

“Even if they are rich and honorable, they do not become corrupt; even if they are poor and struggling, they do not give up their ambitions; and even if they are under authority and force, they do not yield.”
The unwavering strength that does not waver at any moment comes from confidence in oneself.
And self-confidence comes from a long period of accumulated experience of looking deeply into oneself.
It is a power that cannot be imitated through innate talent, but can only be built through long reflection and study.
The difference between an adult who leads a large number of people and an ordinary person is this power, this inner strength.

Chi: Depth that controls the surroundings and shows the way

“Plans for the year should be made in the spring, and plans for the day should be made at dawn.”
When planning a task, you must carefully consider the various situations that may arise.
However, it is also a problem to take too long to prepare or not recognize the urgency of the situation.
A proper balance is needed between meticulous preparation and bold decisions.
The power to hold that center is internal energy, and the person who plays that role is an adult.
It is the subordinate's job to be absorbed in the task at hand or to be obsessed with short-term results.
Adults must be able to see from a higher perspective and judge by looking at the whole, not just a part.

Qi: A strong force that can be suppressed across the board in a single word.

“What can a person without manners do if he doesn’t die?”
As we live our social lives, we often come across moments where we have to make decisions that require determination.
For example, there are times when we must stand up against injustice even if it means risking a lot.
If standing up and getting angry in the face of injustice is called courage, then getting angry easily is called intelligence.
It takes inner strength to master the situation and maintain one's beliefs without being swayed by it.
The internal energy of 'Ilchim Gyeonhyeol', which stabs at the core at the most opportune moment and takes control of the situation in one breath, this is what it means to be an adult.

Ji Xianlin, Speaking of Humanity

『Millennium of Internal Energy』 is the result of 148 passages collected by Ji Xianlin (1911-2009) while culminating his lifelong study of the classics, and reorganized and rewritten in an easy-to-understand manner by Jo Yun-je, the author of 『Speech Study』.
Ji Xianlin was a great mentor whom China's leaders sought advice from whenever they faced a crossroads.
He often recommended great sentences from classics containing the reflections of the adults who led the times, from the Book of Changes to the poetry of Su Dongpo, to those around him.
Ji Xianlin emphasized that just studying these famous sayings would elevate one's level as a human being.

Early morning study: the quiet time I desperately need at every turning point in life.

Dawn is often cited as the best time to study.
Today, when the elegant evenings have disappeared, the only time I can spend for myself and to look into myself is dawn.
This book, which breaks away from the familiar yesterday and prepares for a new day, is structured so that you can quietly immerse yourself in the profound sentences that have matured with a thousand years of wisdom every morning, and gradually accumulate that wisdom within yourself.
The 『Millennium of Internal Energy』 encountered in the deep dawn will be of great help in raising my level and building up my internal energy.
