This second edition has the same structure as the first edition, but the following items have been revised and supplemented.
First, we updated the latest research results and statistical data.
In particular, since laws and statistical data are expected to continue to change, additional information has been provided so that readers can learn about changes through the website or URL.
Second, eating disorders were added to maladaptive problem behaviors.
Third, the name of the counseling theory was revised and third-generation counseling was added.
Fourth, individual counseling, multicultural counseling, and digital and online-based counseling were added to the counseling types.
The second edition consists of 2 parts and 12 chapters.
Part 1 is divided into Understanding Adolescent Psychology and Part 2 is Understanding Adolescent Counseling. Part 1 consists of Chapter 1, which serves as the introduction to this book; Chapters 2 and 3, which introduce adolescent psychological theories; Chapter 4, which introduces the physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional developmental characteristics of adolescence; Chapter 5, which introduces contexts closely related to these developmental characteristics; and Chapters 6 and 7, which introduce psychological maladjustment problems in adolescence.
Part 2 introduces the theories of adolescent psychology introduced in Part 1 and the theories and methods of adolescent counseling related to the characteristics of development and context.
It consists of Chapter 8, which explains the concept and components of youth counseling, Chapter 9, which introduces youth counseling theories, Chapter 10, which explains youth counseling methods, Chapter 11, which introduces types of youth counseling, and finally Chapter 12, which introduces counseling cases for each type of youth maladaptive problem behavior.
