Social Welfare Data Analysis: Principles and Applications
Social Welfare Data Analysis: Principles and Applications
Description
Book Introduction
First, this book focuses more on inferential statistics than on probability theory.
Second, this book was written to explain the principles of elementary data analysis techniques for inferential statistics as conceptually as possible within the context of social welfare.
The primary audience the author had in mind while writing this book is researchers and practitioners in the field of social welfare who will ultimately be exposed to intermediate and advanced data analysis techniques, but who wish to understand the principles of entry-level data analysis techniques beforehand.
Third, although this book presents the use of the most widely used statistical software in the social welfare field with the aim of enabling readers to more effectively understand the principles of data analysis, the book still places greater emphasis on the principles of data analysis.
This is because understanding the principles of data analysis techniques and learning how to use data analysis programs should not be equated for any reason, and unless such an equating disappears among social welfare researchers, it will be difficult for social welfare to develop as a discipline that produces new knowledge.
Furthermore, among the next generation of scholars majoring in social welfare, some will have to challenge themselves to understand the principles of intermediate or advanced data analysis techniques, and to do so, they will need to understand at least the principles of elementary data analysis.
