Why Jesus?
Description
Book Introduction
You must know properly to believe properly. 『WHY JESUS (Why Jesus?)』 is a book that invites you on a spiritual journey to find out why you should believe in Jesus through 12 keywords such as religious ideal, no mileage, freedom, joy, suffering, and resurrection. Pastor Cho Jeong-min, through much religious wandering, has become convinced that Jesus is the truth, and he delivers the gospel message in a language that this age can accept. The author, who began teaching Wednesday classes while serving at Basic Church last year, says that as the lectures continued, the answer to the question, "Why Jesus?" began to emerge. The twelve words received in prayer every Wednesday morning became twelve lectures, and this book is a transcription of the recorded lectures. |

P.28~30: Truth is the answer, the Bible is the answer.
A year later, my conclusion was this:
'The Bible is truth.' It wasn't like I had some powerful spiritual experience.
Yet, it was acknowledged and believed that the Bible was the truth and that all the answers to life were contained within it.
In fact, anyone who has been deeply involved in Buddhism or is well-versed in shamanism will immediately recognize that the Bible is a spiritual book.
Everyone recognizes that the visible material world is not everything.
That's why we study metaphysics.
It is the study and research of the spiritual world under the assumption that there is some order behind the visible material world of physics.
Religion arose because metaphysics could not solve the problem.
And because this religion could not solve it, Jesus came to this earth.
In that sense, Jesus can be said to be more than a religion (meta-religion).
This book was written to argue that Jesus is a 'meta religion', that is, more than a religion.
Despite the negative consequences of numerous heresies and countless accusations, this book seeks to clarify the following questions: "Is Christianity, which believes in Jesus, truly more than a religion? Is Jesus truly more than a religion?"
The Bible is based on historical facts.
What is the strength that enabled the Israelites to survive for four thousand years, despite facing countless hardships and persecutions? Their strength lies in their belief that God had saved them.
Their faith is unwavering because there is a historical fact that two million Israelites who were living as slaves in Egypt were expelled in an instant.
Therefore, in order to stand on the foundation of unshakable faith, you must have facts.
We often feel like we have faith when we cry and pray with our hearts burning one day, but when our tears dry and our emotions dry up, our faith wavers.
But God does not decide to have a relationship with us based on our feelings or actions.
He simply decided to unilaterally free us from the trap.
Unless we experience as a fact His decision to unilaterally save us and to unilaterally love us, we will always judge God according to our own emotions and feelings, our own logic and experiences.
Then, with self-centered thoughts and beliefs, we try to shake God and make deals with Him.
Of course, when faith is young, it can make you cry and whine.
Parents are willing to provide for all the needs of their children while they are in the womb, at birth, and when they are too young to do anything.
However, if you still can't control your bowels when you become independent, you will inevitably get spanked.
Because in order to nurture us to grow in faith, we cannot leave it as it is.
This must be experienced as a fact.
It is a blessing of faith to realize that there is a good purpose in every process by which God deals with and shapes us.
Getting what you want seems like a blessing, but once you get it, you realize it's all in vain.
They say the greatest mystery in the world is that people give up their health to make money, and then spend all that money to get their health back.
The world claims that such an absurd life is normal.
Therefore, the world's customs, the world's ways, and the world's paths are not the answer.
The answer is not that everyone is flocking.
A wide open road may seem like it will take you faster, but it is of no use if it ends in a cliff.
The truth that transcends time and space is the answer.
The Bible is the answer.
P.88~89: I mentioned three criteria for changing the paradigm of life earlier.
Meta religion, no mileage, freedom.
Now, let's talk about the fourth criterion that changes the paradigm of life.
It is joy.
Joy is 'joy' in English.
I want to give a new meaning to JOY as 'Jesus Overows You'.
If we interpret the meaning, it means that Jesus overflows within us.
There are many happy things in life even without Jesus.
The reason I drank alcohol in the past was because it made me happy.
It was fun to hang out with people and drink, and as I got drunker, I started losing my mind and talking nonsense, which became a kind of escape and was fun.
Even people you've known your whole life but rarely reveal their true feelings to others can suddenly become disarmed and reveal themselves when they get drunk.
You will soon become close friends.
I don't know how much fun golf is.
I've been promoted at work, made money through stock investments, and lost money, all of which made me happy at every moment.
I enjoyed hanging out with many people and getting into various activities, tasting joy and having fun.
But looking back, that pleasure was really cheap.
I feel like it was so easy to fall for it because it was so cheap.
In that respect, we need to abandon the habit of being satisfied with trivial pleasures.
We need to raise our standards for joy.
We need to renew the joy of life.
Becoming an adult means no longer being limited to the things that children desire, want, and enjoy.
Jesus is the one who brings a whole new level of joy to our lives.
He is the one who leads us into a world of indescribable joy that we have not yet discovered.
When we face hardships in life, we must carefully ask and interpret who these hardships come from and why.
"From whom does this suffering come? Why has it come? How will we overcome it?"
But above all, it is important to accept hardship.
Just as Lee Young-pyo accepted the biased judgement of the referee as part of the game, we must accept hardship as part of life.
What can we do when hardship has already arrived? Instead of rejecting it and making a fuss, we should first accept it.
A couple fell in love and had a baby.
Raising a child can be both a joyous and painful experience.
As you grow up and your hair gets thicker, it can cause various accidents.
Children cause pain to their parents in one way or another.
Does that mean parents abandon their children? Parents accept their children, even if they're constantly causing trouble, as their own and overcome their suffering together.
The baby I carried in my womb for ten months was born with Down syndrome.
Does that mean parents abandon their children? Even so, I accept them as my own.
That's understandable because they are parents.
This is the amazing providence of God, who gives us grace in ways that humans cannot imagine.
I believe that Jesus suffered for those who could not accept suffering.
Why is Jesus the answer? Why is Jesus the truth?
To conclude, there is no one in this world who has suffered more than Jesus.
Because when I see the suffering Jesus endured, my suffering becomes comforted.
Do you know why I was drawn to Jesus, not to religious founders like Buddha, Muhammad, or Confucius? Because Jesus suffered more than I did, because He understood suffering, because He interpreted it.
Because he alone claims to have suffered in my place, and I agree with that claim.
Why Jesus? Because He is the suffering God.
There is no religion that says that God suffers in my place.
All other gods are lofty and transcendent beings.
It has nothing to do with human suffering.
We need to do something to reach them.
You have to suffer for God to build trust.
In every religion, there is an additional suffering because something has to be paid to approach God.
All those religions are built on a trading system.
It's impossible to escape the give-and-take format.
But Jesus is not like that.
It was all accomplished on the cross.
He paid the price for my sins and bore my suffering.
When Jesus' proclamation and declaration clicks into our hearts, all our questions about suffering begin to be answered.
