Into the book
Eight years have passed since the publication of the New Standard Version of the Bible. During this time, many readers have provided valuable feedback on the translation. Furthermore, revision committee members from 16 denominations reviewed the translation.
The Bible Society of Korea has accumulated experience in translating and revising the Bible, while at the same time utilizing the results of biblical text research developed by the global biblical community. This [Revised Standard New Translation] was created based on the opinions received by the Bible Society, the results of translation reviews, experience in Bible revision, and various research achievements.
In particular, the opinions received from churches were faithfully reviewed in light of the original text and reflected in the revision.
The translation principle of the [New Standard Version] was to accurately translate the original text so that Korean readers could understand it, yet translate it into simple, modern language, in accordance with Korean grammar, and in a way that could be used in Korean churches. This revision adhered to this translation principle while considering the following four points.
First, the texts that were not clearly translated or that did not convey the meaning well were corrected to ensure that the meaning was conveyed well.
Second, I tried to eliminate the translation tone as much as possible and express the meaning in Korean.
However, in theologically important texts, we tried to reflect the original meaning rather than using Korean expressions.
Third, regarding the difficult passages in the original text itself, we tried to clarify their meaning by applying the results of modern biblical studies.
Fourth, Korean honorifics were applied in the dialogue.
We sincerely hope that the newly revised [Revised Standard Version] will accurately and easily convey God's word to readers of the new age.

Now, the title of the [Revised Standard Version of the Bible] has been changed to [New Translation of the Bible], making it easier and more familiar to pronounce. I hope that the [New Translation of the Bible] will be a great light to all who desire to read God's Word in modern Korean.
