'I seem to be studying hard, but why are my grades stagnant?'
'How can I help them achieve results commensurate with their studies?'
In Korea, many students struggle with various learning problems.
Although I study hard, I always lose confidence in my studies because my grades fall short of my goals.
I'm frustrated because I don't know if my current study method is correct, and if it is, what the problem is.
The situation is no different for parents.
I definitely want to help my children, so I take related classes and teach them myself, but for some reason, my child's grades remain stagnant, which is frustrating.
To save everyone from this terrible study boredom, star instructors Jeong Seung-je and Jo Jeong-sik have joined forces.
From students struggling with math to students struggling to overcome a slump in their grades after entering a foreign language high school, to students whose unstable relationships with their parents are affecting their grades, we closely examine the learning processes of diverse students, pinpoint their problems, and provide tailored solutions.
It's not simply a solution to a problem.
We provide a comprehensive, customized solution, encompassing the student's overall study environment, study habits, mindset, and even the fundamental attitudes and concepts that must not be overlooked in learning.
This book is not simply a compilation of the contents of the “Please Give Me Grades, Teachers” program.
This book provides detailed information on the living solutions of education experts Jeong Seung-je and Jo Jeong-sik, mentors, that were not revealed in the explosively popular season 1 (episodes 1-14) of “Please Give Me Grades, Teachers.”
Not only are the student cases covered on the show, such as a student who insists on studying too hard despite lacking the basics, a student who only studies what he likes without realizing his weaknesses, and a student who is always anxious while deceiving himself and those around him by saying that he is a regular test taker, but the two mentors also included all the know-how and stories they have learned from teaching and leading growth in the actual learning field.
By providing practical solutions accumulated through various experiences, we provide students with the opportunity to realize their own problems and experience a breakthrough in their academic performance.
The way to improve your grades is simple.
If you figure out what you are currently lacking and study consistently and diligently in the right way, your grades will improve.
If we carefully consider and practice the stories in this book—what we've been missing at home, what the holes in our study methods are, and how we need to change our study methods to make a leap forward in our grades—anyone can achieve their goals and gain a sense of accomplishment through studying.

Into the book
To make up for this shortcoming, we have included the royal road to math and English that anyone can follow and improve their skills through the book “Please Give Me Grades, Teachers.”
This is a method that can be followed and attempted by any student with the will to study well, and is not focused on simple test-doing tricks or tips, but rather on building solid skills that will not easily crumble.
--- p.6, from “Introduction: The Royal Road to Study to Build Solid Skills”
Real effort, not just pretending, never betrays you.
If you study hard enough that no one can deny it, your grades will definitely go up.
Conversely, if you don't sit down at your desk and study with a pen in hand, your grades won't improve no matter how great your teacher is or how good your workbook is.
True effort is not about being satisfied with something and thinking it is enough, but about doing your best to the point that everyone will recognize it.
Dieting and studying never work without tricks.
When you truly study, keeping in mind that how much effort you put in is judged by others, not yourself, your grades will only improve.
--- p.36, from “Part 1: Are the standards of my efforts justified?”
What happens if someone running at full speed is actually running in the wrong direction? They end up somewhere far from their destination, and running at full speed actually ends up being a disadvantage.
Even if you realize later that you are going in the right direction, you will have already exhausted all your energy, so it will take longer to run again and you may not be able to run as well as before.
It would be worse than not running at all in the first place.
The same goes for studying.
Effort is important, but if you don't decide on the right direction to put that effort in from the beginning, everything can be in vain.
--- p.51, from “Part 1: If the direction is wrong, no effort is of any use”
Let's put the initiative in learning in the children's hands.
And let's focus on becoming strong parents who can always reach out to their children when they are worried or having a hard time.
The greatest gift a parent can give their child for his or her academic success is to provide strong emotional support so that the child can discover what he or she wants and work hard to achieve it.
Let's not forget that maintaining an independent parent-child relationship while giving our children faith is the path to mutual happiness and fulfillment.
--- p.116, from “Part 2: The child should take the lead in studying”
Among the 4th grade students, there are many who solve problems by memorizing formulas without knowing the concepts.
Since you have memorized the formula, you confidently solve the problem, thinking that you understand 80% of it, and quickly find the answer.
But what's the actual result? There's an 80% chance it's wrong.
Usually, difficult problems require connecting several mathematical concepts to solve them, but if a concept that is absolutely necessary for solving the problem is related to the 20% that you lack in studying, the problem cannot be solved.
I clearly know the formula for this problem and I calculated it accurately, but I can't seem to get the right answer, so I'm frustrated.
'I know all about this, so why am I getting it wrong?'
But if you can't get out of this mindset, you won't be able to move beyond the stereotypical three-point questions.
--- p.125, from “Part 3: Mathematics Begins with Concepts”
Even if you have a perfect understanding of the concept and are able to solve problems to some extent, there are some useful tips to use when you still cannot solve a problem.
The solution is to simply erase the conditions of the problem and solve it.
(…) But at this time, let’s erase all the conditions given in the problem and apply them one by one.
In math problems, every word in the problem is a powerful hint.
Before solving a problem, you should erase all conditions, revive each condition one by one, and think about how to apply those conditions to solving the problem.
If I match the number of given conditions with the number of unknowns I need to find, the problem will be solved before I know it.
--- p.198, from “Part 3: Tackling Difficult Problems”
There is one really important thing you should not overlook when studying English.
English is also a language.
So, to be good at English, you need to have basic reading skills.
Basically, this means that the ability to understand language must be the foundation.
In fact, students who consistently get perfect scores on the English section of the CSAT have one thing in common: they read a lot of books from a young age.
If you have literacy as a foundation, even if you were somewhat lacking in your studies in middle school, once you start studying English for the CSAT in earnest in high school, your scores will literally explode.
On the other hand, if literacy is not supported, there is a limit to improving skills no matter how much good deeds one has done from a young age.
It is easy to collapse like a shoddy construction.
--- p.218, from "You can interpret Part 3, but you don't understand it? That's because of a lack of literacy."
When memorizing English words, one thing you need to pay more attention to is pronunciation.
Memorizing by writing the alphabet without pronouncing it is like only studying halfway.
Because you can't solve listening problems without knowing how to pronounce the words.
No matter how hard you memorize a word, if you don't know how to pronounce it, you won't be able to solve the problem even if that word appears on a listening test.
There are a total of 17 listening questions in the English section of the CSAT, and if you get even one of them wrong, you will never be able to get a top score.
--- p.255, from “Part 3: Memorizing English Vocabulary Must Be Done with Examples”
Many students mistakenly believe that the CSAT and school grades are separate exams, but that is absolutely not the case.
It's the same in English.
If you memorize a lot of the texts in the textbook and supplementary materials provided by the school, you will be able to read the sentences on the CSAT easily.
Since the sentence structure in English is the same anyway, you can learn it again while studying the text in the textbook.
--- p.326, from “Part 5: The Illusion of the ‘On-Time Fighter’”
Even the children who are currently in the top grade are where they are today because they went through the process of building a solid foundation.
Even though I'm a little slower than others now, I can work hard from now on.
You need to set realistic goals and achieve them to gain confidence that you can do it.
It is necessary to increase self-efficacy and have an attitude of accepting failure as part of the learning process.
You might regret it and say, 'I wish I had studied harder earlier.'
But as time goes by, you may regret not putting in the effort right now.
Now is the earliest time to study hard.
This is a method that can be followed and attempted by any student with the will to study well, and is not focused on simple test-doing tricks or tips, but rather on building solid skills that will not easily crumble.

“Anyone can improve their grades with Teachers!”
No. 1 in Korea.
Special solutions from Ilta instructors in one book!
Those preparing for the entrance exam all have the same mindset.
As we enter adulthood, we all study and prepare with a desperate heart to succeed in the college entrance exam, which is also the biggest challenge.
However, there are many friends who are worried and distressed by the frustrating reality and the results that do not go as planned.
To escape this situation, I take several classes, change my study method, and even get college entrance exam consulting, but for some reason, the results don't change easily.
The time left until the entrance exam is getting shorter and shorter, but my skills are not improving at all, so I am only getting more and more anxious.
So, after “Please Give Me Grades, Teachers” was first aired, the response from students and parents who watched the show was truly explosive.
Many reviews poured in saying that the learning cases introduced on the show were exactly like their own stories.
With the coaching of Korea's top mentors, Jeong Seung-je and Jo Jeong-sik, it seems possible to succeed in the college entrance exam. Any student weary of stagnant grades has grown to dream of hope with the help of accurate diagnoses and solutions from their teachers.
However, since the solutions introduced in the broadcast were tailored to the characteristics of the students who appeared, there are clear limitations to how students who watched the broadcast can follow or apply them.
To make up for this regret, the book “Please Give Me Grades, Teachers” was published, containing all the correct and diverse study methods that were introduced on TV and some that were not.
Although the circumstances of children struggling with grades are different for each child, the reasons for poor grades are generally similar.
It's either a lack of effort, a flawed study method, or both.
In this case, you just need to practice the most correct study method possible and realize that each person has their own study method that suits their current situation.
If you consistently work hard to reach the goal of college entrance exams, your grades will naturally increase explosively.
To this end, the book "Please Give Me Grades, Teachers" contains the royal road to math and English that any student who dreams of successful college entrance exams can follow and help them find the study method that is right for them.
Rather than focusing on simple test-taking tips or tricks, we've introduced methods for building solid skills that won't easily crumble.
“With Teachers’ solutions, I started studying for real, not just imitation!”
From organizing math concepts to solving problems, from basic English skills to vocabulary, sentences, and listening skills.
To this end, the best mentors, Jeong Seung-je and Jo Jeong-sik, who are the most loved and supported by Korean students, have joined forces.
This book provides a comprehensive, customized solution, covering everything from a student's overall study environment and study habits to their mindset, as well as the fundamental attitudes and concepts they must grasp while studying.
From students struggling with math to students struggling to adjust after entering a foreign language high school to students struggling with unstable relationships with their parents, the program features detailed solutions to a wider range of student concerns, including those introduced on the show.
Chapter 1 begins by examining your current status and providing guidance on what kind of study mindset you should have to overcome your current situation. Chapter 2 examines common mistakes parents can make during the college entrance exam process and introduces the attitudes parents should provide their children to ensure a successful college entrance exam.
In chapters 3 and 4, mentors Jeong Seung-je and Jo Jeong-sik introduce various study tips that are essential for success in the entrance exams for math and English, respectively, and that were not covered in detail on the show.
Mentor Jeong Seung-je, who emphasizes that studying the basic concepts of mathematics properly is the true way to study mathematics, introduces in detail the A to Z of the fundamentals of studying mathematics, including what constitutes true conceptual study and what kind of practice and training is required to solve difficult problems using these basic concepts.
Teacher Cho Jeong-sik also emphasizes that English is a language, and ultimately, he introduces in detail the secret to improving literacy skills necessary to conquer a language, as well as the study methods for each section, including vocabulary, sentences, passages, and listening, for achieving the highest level in English on the College Scholastic Ability Test. Through this book, he introduces various detailed tips that will help anyone who studies to settle into the top ranks of English.
This book is not simply a compilation of the contents of the “Please Give Me Grades, Teachers” program.
This is a secret book that summarizes the educational philosophy and learning know-how of Korea's best daily instructors, Jeong Seung-je and mentor Jo Jeong-sik, along with all the study methods briefly introduced on TV, which have never been properly introduced before.
It is also a guidebook that will serve as a proper guide for countless students in Korea who are struggling with their studies even at this very moment, but are sometimes frustrated and worried.
I sincerely hope that “Please Give Me Grades, Teachers” will help everyone achieve the valuable results they desire in the college entrance exam, which is a long tunnel but also the beginning of infinite possibilities, and that it will help everyone gain the strength to live a more brilliant life.
