Magazine B: THE HOME
Magazine B: THE HOME
Description
Book Introduction
As the title suggests, 『Magazine B: THE HOME』 is a book about houses and people.
The reason why 『Magazine B』, after much deliberation, chose to address the topic of 'home' is because it believes that, especially in difficult times, it is more important than ever to examine the basics of life, and that the basics of life begin at home.
Instead of capturing the scene where a brand is born, we turned our attention to the individual scenes where traces of life are imprinted.

This book focuses on houses that clearly reflect the attitude of their occupants toward the space they call home, rather than on their shape, size, or style.
And based on that attitude, similar types of houses were grouped together.
For example, people who live and work at home are grouped as 'Home Office', and people who are willing to endure inconveniences and choose a more free life in the suburbs are grouped as 'Suburban Life', etc.
Beginning with a brief interview with publisher Jo Su-yong, the editorial team of Magazine B covered various craters both domestically and internationally, discussing the meaning and purpose of a home and examining how the universal residential space we commonly think of can be used in a variety of ways.

As COVID-19 changes the way people work and naturally increases the amount of time they spend at home, interest in new and evolving housing styles, including the homes we live in, has grown.

As the title suggests, “The Home” is a book about houses and people.

〈The Home〉 focuses on houses that clearly reflect the attitude of their occupants toward the space they call home, rather than on their shape, size, or style.

In a changing world, what does home mean to us? By asking ourselves this question, I hope to delve deeper with readers of this book about the form of home we currently inhabit and its future direction.

■ Preface / Conversation between Editor-in-Chief Park Eun-seong and Publisher Jo Su-yong of Magazine <B>
Q.
The magazine B has decided to create a book on the topic of 'home'.
Many media outlets are telling stories about home in their own ways, big or small.

A.
“I’m a person who has a strong attachment to space, and as I’ve always said, space is deeply connected to human nature.
No matter how much the world becomes digitalized, as long as we maintain our humanity, the importance of physical space will always remain a crucial element.
Especially at home.
There was a time when decorating a home and making it a place you'd want to stay in sounded like a luxury, but that prejudice has largely disappeared now.
“Having lived in many homes, I have seen so many times how much affection for one’s home can transform a person’s life, and I often think that it is even quite connected to the fundamental purpose of life, ‘why do we live?’” (Preface / p. 9)
