The mind heals the body
Description
Book Introduction
The amazing healing power of the mind, scientifically and medically proven, is finally revealed!
The Power of the Mind Revealed by a Biochemist and Former Pharmaceutical Researcher!

Today, psychosomatic medicine, which uses the power of the mind to heal physical ailments, is emerging as a core field of integrative medicine.
However, when applying meditation or image healing to medical settings, problems such as insufficient clinical guidelines, lack of clinical evidence, and lack of explanation of the scientific mechanisms of healing have always been raised.
This book quenches the thirst for medical and scientific evidence for these psychosomatic treatments.

Author David Hamilton, a PhD in organic chemistry and a world-renowned authority on psychosomatic medicine, explores how image healing, faith, and positive thinking impact our bodies.
This book provides a compelling answer to the intriguing question: "How can the mind influence the body and heal its ailments?" based on the latest research.

He also mentions the revolutionary 'quantum field healing' that can change us at the atomic level, and suggests ways to strengthen our body's defense mechanisms and healing systems through imagination and thought processes to overcome both minor and serious illnesses.
There are many cases of people overcoming various illnesses and regaining their health through various therapies.

Into the book
“There is no longer any doubt that psychotherapy can dramatically change the brain.” This is the statement of Nobel Prize winner Eric Kandel, reflecting a growing body of evidence that talk therapy can produce neuroplastic changes in the brain—neuroplasty refers to changes in the brain’s maps.
Talking openly about our problems with a good therapist or a good friend actually changes our brains. ---p.80

In 1989, researchers at Harvard University conducted an ingenious experiment.
They took volunteers over 70 years old to a remote rural retreat center and asked them to act as if it were 1959 for a week.
In that training center, the situation of 1959 was reproduced exactly.
… … After ten days at the retreat, the scientists re-measured physiological parameters and discovered that the volunteers had become physiologically several years younger simply by acting younger.
The volunteers grew taller, had longer fingers, improved mental function and better eyesight.
Among the volunteers, some were found to have become mentally and physiologically as young as 25 years. ---p.37

In one study, a group of patients underwent internal mammary artery ligation for angina, a procedure that involves tying off an artery to divert blood flow to the heart.
Another group underwent what's called "sham surgery," where researchers performed surgery but didn't tie off the arteries.
Researchers say that 67 percent of patients who actually had the surgery to tie off their arteries experienced significant improvement in their symptoms.
This group experienced less pain, needed less treatment, and were able to exercise longer without experiencing angina attacks.
But surprisingly, 83 percent of patients who underwent sham surgery also experienced similar improvement in symptoms.
Although it was a small study with 21 people receiving real surgery and 12 receiving sham surgery, the results were unmistakable.
For most people, the mere thought of having surgery was as effective as actually having it. ---p.71

* The case of Tom, who recovered from a serious car accident.
In 1996, I was in a serious car accident.
A double-decker bus crashed into the driver's seat of my car.
As a result, I broke my collarbone, ribs, hip, and spine, cracked my skull, and my kneecap was pushed back into my leg.
… … I devoted myself to healing every day.
I imagined myself, small in size, going to my injured body parts, with little workers each doing different things, like trimming my broken bones and closing my wounds with their own special tools.
Then, day by day, I became stronger.
After scanning my pelvis, the doctor was shocked and said it really did look like he had shaved the bone.
The following year, I ran the marathon in 4 hours and 8 minutes, and my doctor was very surprised by the result. ---p.202-203

* The case of Tamara, who succeeded in dieting
I've struggled with being overweight my entire life.
… … I did image healing on average five times a week, mostly every night before going to bed.
… … Image healing consists of several Pac-Man scenes where they eat certain parts of my body and then explode or disappear into thin air.
… … Then I visualize my skin tightening.
… … So far, the results are as follows.
Weight loss: 20 pounds in about 4 and a half months.
I went from a tight size 22 to a comfortable size 20.
I used to need at least 8 hours of sleep, but now I only need 6 hours and I'm not tired.
It's not like the wrinkles have increased!
---p.238-239

Publisher's Review
Image healing therapy that creates miracles of healing

Author David Hamilton has a PhD in organic chemistry and worked as a researcher in new drug development at a major British pharmaceutical company.
The placebo effect revealed in experiments during the development process clearly shows that diseases are treated by the mind, not by medicine.
Afterwards, he worked as a coach and team manager at a top athletics club in England, where he guided athletes to achieve outstanding results through the 'image training' technique of overcoming physical limitations through the power of the mind, and once again felt the powerful power of the mind.
Since then, he has been active as a self-development expert, broadcasting and writing, and hosting various workshops for the treatment of diseases.

“Ten years ago, I was diagnosed with inoperable breast cancer.
The survival rate was only 15 percent.
The cancer had spread to the lymphatic system and neck.
… … During my treatment, I visualized a rabbit, which I called “perfect health,” running around inside my body, eating cancer cells.
Cancer cells were food for rabbits, and rabbits loved eating cancer cells.
… … I visualized this scene at least two or three times a day, and every time I received treatment.
By the end of the treatment, the progress was so good that even the doctor was surprised.
The cancer disappeared without a trace, so I didn't need surgery.
… … 11 years later, I am still alive and well.
“Doctors and nurses are still amazed at how healthy I am.”
(From the case of Petula, who was cured of breast cancer, pp. 171-175)

Disease is not cured by medicine, but by the mind.

Years of research on the placebo effect have shown that the power of belief can actually influence the course of a wide range of illnesses, the authors say.
That means it can affect a number of conditions, including asthma, hay fever, infections, pain, Parkinson's disease, depression, congestive heart failure, angina, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, exercise capacity, weight loss, stomach ulcers, insomnia, and even immune and growth hormone levels.
Additionally, recent studies have shown that when patients take a placebo believing it to be a real drug, chemical reactions occur in the brain due to the patient's belief.
We are soon entering a stage where we will be convinced that thoughts, feelings, and beliefs are not merely subjective ideas of the mind, but actually cause chemical reactions and physical changes in the brain and throughout the body.

“When you visualize your body healing, the first thing that happens is that the microscopic structure of your brain actually changes.
Image healing is not just subjective and psychological, it is not a bunch of mental images meant to make you feel good.
It is a process that actually causes chemical and structural changes within the brain.
“The moment you do image healing, your mind transforms your material.” (p. 78)

This book is divided into three parts.
Part 1 outlines the latest research findings in the rapidly emerging field of mind-body science.
It covers cutting-edge research on mind-body healing, along with evidence of the power of positive thinking and the placebo effect, and the latest research on how our thoughts and emotions trigger subtle changes in the brain.
In “Part 2,” we introduce cases of successful actual healing through image healing.
"Part 3" is short, but it is the part the author places the most emphasis on, and it talks about the power of love.
The author argues that only love can create true miracles of healing.

Additionally, this book contains three appendices. Appendix 1 covers the author's unique image healing therapy, 'Quantum Field Healing', and Appendix 2 contains a list of image healing methods for each disease, allowing readers to find and apply the image healing method that suits their needs.
And in “Appendix 3,” another unique image healing technique called “DNA Image Healing” is introduced.

A book that will quench your thirst for medical and scientific evidence for psychosomatic treatments!
