One day, I happened to come across a free online course while I was actively interested in Instagram. I was impressed by the instructor's precise and friendly explanations, so I requested a meeting with him.
At the time, he didn't have much experience in lecturing, let alone manuscripts for publication. However, I saw this as an opportunity and suggested, "Let's plan a lecture and document its success stories in a book."
As a result, the author created a class called 'Secret Instagram Success in 30 Days' and successfully ran it for 10 sessions. The practical experience gained during the process is fully included in the book.
Currently, we are actively expanding our activities to include tools and online lectures, and the book we created together has been reprinted five times and even had its copyright exported to Thailand.

This happened when I was producing the book “Complete Notion in One Volume.”
In previous books, we used 100g imitation paper for the text, but this time, to reduce the budget, we changed the printing to 80g imitation paper.
However, after printing, I checked and found that on pages with many pictures, the dark images were visible on the back page.
The problem was caused by the paper being too thin.
In the end, I regretted it so much that I decided to revert back to making 100g fakes from the second edition.
In this way, the paper used in book production, especially the paper used for the cover and the body (insides), have completely different roles and characteristics.
Texture, thickness, color, and printability directly affect the quality of a book as well as the reader's reading experience.

I personally produce the publisher's card news, detailed pages, and even promotional videos.
By learning the design platform 'Mango Board' early on and using it freely, I was able to reduce outsourcing costs and increase work speed.
This has been one of the key strategies that has allowed me to maintain my one-man publishing company.

To sustain a profitable business model, a solo publisher must develop a publishing strategy with a long-term perspective, rather than relying on short-term results.
Along with the steady release of new books, we must also focus on developing long-selling titles that will be loved for a long time. Furthermore, we need to diversify the format of books beyond paper books to include e-books and audiobooks.
Additionally, diversifying revenue streams, such as supplying textbooks to schools and institutions or linking with online lecture platforms to combine lectures and books, is also an important strategy.

Publisher's Review
Starting a publishing business can be overwhelming, but you're no longer alone.

"How to Start and Run a One-Person Publishing Company" is a practical guidebook that shows how the seemingly romantic world of publishing is actually fiercely competitive and complex, and how to survive and thrive within it.
As of 2025, the closure rate of publishing companies in the Seoul area is expected to reach 30%.
The reality facing a one-person publishing company is not easy: sluggish sales, marketing challenges, the burden of fixed costs, complex administrative and tax matters, juggling a full-time job, and even a sense of isolation.
This book honestly documents the overwhelming and challenging task of being a one-man publisher, responsible for every aspect of a publishing company, from planning and editing to design, printing, distribution, taxation, marketing, and even logistics.
I never thought I'd start a publishing company, but I've been working tirelessly for seven years to build a one-man publishing company. Would you like to join me in my journey of growth?

A friendly guide from Bookmama CEO Eom for anyone dreaming of publishing.

Publishing goes beyond creating a book to adding value to a person's thoughts and connecting knowledge with the wider world.
If you follow the daily routine of a solo publisher—checking book distribution data, discussing cover designs with designers, and working late into the night to proofread—you'll realize just how delicate and intense the publishing process is.
On the one hand, it may be a burdensome publishing process to do alone, but you will also discover that it is a happy and fulfilling process that creates rewards together.
This book offers warm encouragement to those considering publishing.
