The power of voice
The power of voice
Description
Book Introduction
“The difference between liking and disliking is just a hair’s breadth, the source of appeal that goes beyond appearance, the voice!
For an inspiring voice that helps you achieve your dreams
Easy yet powerful training method
A voice so small that I had to ask what he was saying.
A high, raspy, nervous voice.
A hoarse voice, as if the throat was locked.
A voice that seemed to be crawling and mumbling.
A voice so loud and intimidating.'

Do you have a complex about your voice or are struggling with the issues listed above? The truth is, your voice can change dramatically, regardless of age.
Your voice is not something you are born with, but can change dramatically at any age.
It is said that the author of this book used to be an introvert with a small voice, making smooth communication difficult.
Sometimes when she says things like this, people react with almost 100 percent disbelief.
The author proves through his own life that 'people can change in any way through a change in their voice.'

If you cultivate your voice well, you will gain confidence, and if you have confidence, your expressiveness will improve, which will allow you to move the hearts of the other person (the listener).
Additionally, a voice that moves people's hearts, or a 'emotional voice', can be obtained through vocal training.

The emotional voice we are talking about here refers to the 'true voice' that each person originally possesses.
In other words, speak your own unique voice.
So why is your voice so important? The reason is that when you develop your own "unique voice," not only will your personality change in a positive way, you'll gain the trust of those around you, and, surprisingly, your work and relationships will go smoothly.
This is the conclusion of the author of this book, who has devoted about 70 percent of his life to researching voice and has helped over 40,000 people find their “unique voice.”

The voice reflects the condition of the day, that is, the state of body and mind.
If your condition is bad, your voice will also become distorted.
So, if you are lying or being unreasonable, you will be caught.
No matter how much you say, “I can do it,” or “It’s okay,” if you don’t mean it, it shows in your voice.
Moreover, a false voice can make the listener feel uncomfortable.

People are sensitive to other people's lies.
So when you hear a false voice, you unconsciously and subconsciously think, 'Can I entrust this person with the work?'
If this situation continues, you may be ignored during presentations or meetings, and you may be rejected during interviews.
Also, if you are giving a speech, the audience may look bored.
If you are currently living with dissatisfaction with your voice, now is the perfect time to change it.

The author of this book currently works as a corporate training instructor, seminar lecturer, and speaking consultant, helping more people find their voices.
Since my college days, I have worked as a TV reporter, a host at various corporate events, a freelance announcer, a newscaster, a commentator, and a commercial singer, all of which involve vocal expression.
After graduating from college, while working, I continued to study at graduate school and conducted research on the relationship between voice and psychology, and presented papers on the results to health psychology societies in Japan and Europe.
Additionally, I studied body psychology, which approaches mental strength enhancement through voice and other means, and obtained the qualifications necessary to diagnose and counsel various psychological problems.
In this way, I can proudly say that I am a true voice maniac and have poured my entire life into my voice.
People with various concerns about their voices come to the seminars held by this author, who uses all of his experience and expertise related to voice.
Without exception, these people were unable to find their true voice.
But once I started training and was able to use my true voice, things got surprisingly better.

“I’ve been awkward at giving presentations up until now.
“After attending the seminar, my business negotiations have become smoother.”
“I filmed a product advertisement video and uploaded it to an online site.
“I got an order request in 30 minutes.”
“I just attended a small business exchange meeting a while ago and chatted with people, and several of them asked me for work.”
“I gave a speech at an event and I gained some fans.”

It may sound like a lie, but these are true stories from people who attended the seminar.
So why did this change occur? Simply put, it's because, with the ability to produce a genuine voice, the "false" in the resonance of the voice disappeared.
But why does the resonance of my voice disappear from my voice simply by changing my voice? The answer lies in how I use my body.

Knowing how to use your body to express your true voice will help you relax and be more honest with your emotions, which will prevent your voice from sounding false, like boastful, self-deprecating, self-deprecating, or flattering.
That is, when you change your voice, your body changes, and when your body changes, your mind changes.
In physical psychology, this phenomenon is called 'mind-body correlation'.
This is a theory that sees the movement of the mind as closely related to the movement of life activities.
This book also examines the voice from a physical psychology perspective.

The most important point of this book is 'emotional voice', that is, how to use your body to regain your own unique voice.
It's about changing your posture, changing your breathing, changing how you use your muscles.
Just by doing that, you can regain your true voice.
Then, not only will your first impression be more favorable, but your persuasiveness will also naturally improve, and you will be able to build more trust.
At the same time, a real voice can resonate pleasantly in the listener's ears and move their heart.
And that's not all.
In fact, when you can use your real voice, not only the listener's reaction changes, but you yourself also change.
After all, we hear our own voice every day, and we are the ones who are most influenced by our own voice.
A 'moving voice' that changes oneself, changes the listener's reaction, and changes one's life.
If you can get your hands on this magical voice and use effective speaking techniques to move the hearts of others, you are bound to win their favor.
This book also introduces such speaking techniques.

This book consists of a total of five chapters.
Chapter 1 first explains the ‘influence of voice.’
The author explains why a voice that should convey one's feelings fails to inspire trust in the listener, and why, when one acquires one's true voice, one gains trust from the other person. He also introduces how the participants who attended the author's seminar and obtained their "true voice" ahead of others changed.
Chapter 2 explores how the power of your authentic voice can transform you.
A true voice not only moves the listener's heart, but also the heart of the voice's owner.
Let's take a look at how being able to use your true voice can completely change your physical and mental health and inner self for a positive change.

Chapter 3 is a practical section that introduces the basic vocal technique of creating an impressive voice.
If you are someone who says, “I wish I could have a good voice as soon as possible,” you can read from here.
Chapter 4 explains how to effectively use the emotional voice learned in Chapter 3.
Finally, Chapter 5 explains techniques for conveying emotions through moving voices.
Just by paying attention to the 'order of speaking' or the 'point of view' when composing a story, you can convey your message surprisingly well to the other person.

Again, I want to emphasize that when you can use your authentic voice, things take a turn for the worse and everything works out for the better.
I hope you believe that a real voice has that much power.
Are you dissatisfied with your voice right now? If so, this book, "The Power of Your Voice," may be the best hint you can give you to a positive turning point in your life.

Into the book
According to 'Mehrabian's Law', which summarizes the research of Dr. Albert Mehrabian (1939~), the impression a speaker gives to a listener is determined by the following factors.
Of the 90 percent of 'atmosphere (appearance)', about 40 percent is 'voice'.
The voice has a great influence on a person's impression. For reference, the 'content of speech' accounts for only 7% of the impression on the listener.
That's because, according to a recent report, among the spoken languages we use, 'sound' has been revealed to reach the limbic system of the brain before 'language'.
In other words, the impression of the voice input first influences the reception of the language input later.

--- p.28

At best, they just changed their voice, but for those who have such a moving voice, there has been a dramatic change.
Just by changing my voice, I gained a lot of trust from my listeners.
And that's not all.
My personality changed a lot and a new life began.
I think you now know that these changes can occur.
In this way, an 'emotional voice' not only has a great impact on the listener, but it also has a great impact on you, the owner of that voice.

--- p.49

This means that just by changing your facial expression, the depth of your breathing changes and the sound you make changes completely.
When all of these organs are used flexibly, a resonant voice, a moving voice, is produced.
To do this, it is best to position yourself so that the muscles of your entire body are moderately relaxed, like a newborn baby, and so that you can breathe deeply, which is the source of vibration.
'Voice training', which is the basic step for acquiring an impressive voice, consists of the following three steps.

Step 1: Relax your muscles
Step 2: Improve your posture
Step 3: Breathe and Speak
--- p.87

“I often hear people say I have a slurred speech.” Looking closely at him, I noticed that he always stood awkwardly, his weight centered on one leg.
The upper body was slightly hunched over and the neck was tilted to one side.
The corners of his mouth were down and his lips were tightly shut.
So I had them practice the basic posture, and then I had them speak while maintaining that posture.
Then he said, “Huh? You want me to tell you something?
“What should I say? Is anything okay?” he said, and then immediately added, “Wow! My speech has changed.”
Before that, my voice was weak and each note was unclear, making it difficult to understand, but as soon as I changed my posture, my voice became clear and powerful.
If you adopt the right posture like this, your speech will also change significantly.

--- p.103

If you don't use your tongue or chew regularly, your tongue muscles will become weak.
While a lisp may make you look cute, it can be difficult to convey trust in a business setting, as it doesn't convey the right tone of voice when strength or sternness are required.
To prevent this from happening, we need to strengthen our tongue muscles through the exercises introduced below.
Give it a try.
Stick out your tongue, count to ten, then release.
Repeat this movement 3 times.

--- p.118~119

The human voice also contains overtones.
The voice of such a person brings peace of mind to the listener.
Even among famous singers and actors, there are those with voices rich in warm and reassuring overtones.
The key to intentionally adding overtones to your voice is to exhale more deeply and sound like you're sighing.
You should definitely try it.
--- p.154

Using this mirroring effect when talking to someone can help you feel more intimacy.
For example, if the other person tilts their head slightly while speaking, tilt your head in the same direction, and adjust yourself to the other person's tone of voice or speaking speed.
It is about looking at it objectively and insisting on doing the 'same' action.
People tend to evaluate others more positively when they speak at a similar pace to themselves, perhaps due to the mirroring effect.
