Publisher's Review
Many invasions by surrounding powers

From around 2000 BC, Slavic peoples began to live in Poland.
In 966, King Mieszgo established the Kingdom of Poland and adopted Catholicism.
In 1386, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was established with the marriage of the Queen of Poland and the Grand Duke of Lithuania.
In the 1400s, the kingdom had a vast territory stretching from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea.

Poland torn apart by great powers

Poland began to weaken as it fought wars with various powers, including Russia, Sweden, and the Ottoman Empire.
Then, starting in 1772, several major powers, including Russia, Austria, and Prussia, began to divide up Polish land.
After this happened three times, Poland was on the verge of collapse.
In 1797, the country was wiped off the map.

Poland rises again with strong will

The Poles never gave up.
They rose up in revolt, demanding autonomy against the great powers.
After the end of World War I, Poland gained independence in 1918.
But Poland's ordeal did not end there.
In 1939, when Nazi Germany came to power and invaded, Poland was occupied again by Germany and the Soviet Union.
Poland, which allied with the Soviet Union and established a socialist government in 1945, only achieved liberalization in 1989.
After liberalization, Walesa, who led the Solidarity trade union, was elected President of Poland.

preface

Poland, the central region of Europe
On a day when a picture spread out like a canvas across the blue sky, I left for Warsaw, a city like a fairy tale.
Poland, the land that gave birth to Chopin, the poet of the piano, and Marie Curie, the mother of modern science, is not the country that has learned tolerance, inclusion, and forgiveness while walking through the tunnel of war, destruction, ideology, and religion?

When you visit Poland, a country that has been a bastion of Western Latin culture since it adopted Christianity in the 10th century, you can encounter the splendid cultural heritage of Poland, which was once the center of European culture.
When I think of Poland, I think of it as an Eastern European country, but it is actually a country located in the center of Europe.

In the 13th century, Poland was invaded by the Mongol-descended Tatars, in the 14th and 15th centuries by the Teutonic Knights, and in the 17th century, it suffered terribly from Russia, Turkey, and Sweden. After being divided by the three powers of Russia, Prussia, and Austria in 1795, it suffered a harsh fate of 123 years of losing its country, and in the 20th century, it was the site of the greatest atrocity in human history. However, Poland, which has overcome all trials and once again taken on the role of a balancer in Europe and is daring to move forward into the future, is attracting the attention of travelers.

I always think that what relieves the fatigue of travel is not comfortable luxury, but the sounds of people, laughter, and singing.
Poland, a country that has disappeared from the map for over 120 years, is filled with the sincerity that makes travel comfortable. Warsaw, Poland, a country that has risen from the ruins, has built bricks of peace on the land.

The old town is filled with the sound of joyful music.
It is a pleasure to see the scenery I encountered on my travels in the form of paintings.
Warsaw, a place that offers equal relaxation and enjoyment to both locals and foreign travelers, has peaceful squares that, like any other European city, greet everyone with a friendly welcome.

low prices

For a while there weren't many travelers traveling to Poland.
However, as other European architecture and landscapes in Eastern Europe steal the hearts of travelers, countries like the Czech Republic, Austria, and Croatia are gaining popularity, and now, even Poland is seeing an increase in tourists including it in their travel itinerary while traveling through Eastern Europe.
Poland, in particular, offers very low prices, making it an affordable option for travelers.

well-preserved medieval city

Krakow, the former capital of Poland, is a representative city that shows how many tourist attractions there are in Poland and how well-preserved they are.

Traces of sad history

Nazi Germany committed atrocities against Jews and other peoples during World War II.
This is called the Holocaust.
Between 1933 and 1945, Nazi Germany killed over 6 million Jews.
Of these, 1.1 million died in the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland, including Polish citizens.
The scene of a tragedy that should never happen again in human history is preserved in the southern Polish cities of Oswiecim and Birkenau.
