Thought Source
Description
Book Introduction
《Thought Source》, a book to read and write when you need the strength to believe in yourself.
After filling a volume with my thoughts,
There is always a place to lean on.
We, who habitually say, “I don’t have time to think,” have now lost the ability to think.
How can we develop better thinking? This book contains 101 questions that will help you cultivate your thinking skills.
When you first encounter a question, even if it doesn't seem like a difficult topic and you have a lot of ideas floating around in your head, you may find it difficult to write an answer.
Because I haven't really written down my thoughts.
So, let's put aside the impatience to quickly fill the blank pages and the greed to come up with new stories, and calmly reflect on our lives.
My head is already overflowing with stories… .
By the time you finish one book, you will not only know yourself better, but you will also have developed the 'power to believe in yourself.'

Into the book
Not taking mistakes emotionally.
What is more frustrating than the fact that you 'made a mistake' is the situation where there is no solution in sight.
If you wasted time beating yourself up over the fact that you made a mistake when you were a freshman in society, now you quickly admit your mistakes and put your energy into solving them.
Instead, I try not to repeat the same mistakes I made once, and I shake off all my self-reproach with a beer after work.
It's still not easy though.
(···) It may be obvious, but in the end, it's about focusing on the work itself.
Compared to my past attitude, I changed my direction from 'working hard at work' to 'working hard.'
If you focus solely on the corporate environment, it consumes a lot of energy, both psychologically and relationally.
Things that become meaningless once you leave the company.
I decided to remember that if I work hard, it will eventually pay off for me in some way.
--- p.33, from “What has changed greatly between me when I first started working and me now”
My thoughts surrounding books
- Taking a book with you when you travel is a luxury, yet a pleasure.
More than what to wear!
- I organized the books by cover color.
What color books do I have the most of?
- When I look back at a book I read with underlining after a long time has passed, I can read my past thoughts as well.
- I often write.
As I type each letter, I feel like the sentences are being engraved in my heart.
- Giving a book as a gift opens up a world.
- When you have a pile of unread books, I hope you feel more excited than guilty.
--- p.36, from “How are you reading books?”
Unlike many people like me who are starting something new, whether it be through employment, a career change, travel, or marriage, my parents are going through a period of slowly getting closer to separation.
Moments like sending off your children, saying goodbye to old friends, and ending a long career at work.
As time goes by, I too feel a little afraid of the feelings of separation that I will face someday.
--- p.43, from “What is happening around me?”
I like this kind of person.
- A person who understands the world each of us lives in
- People who are not very attached to relationships
- A person with goodness deep in his heart
- A person with three-dimensional charm, but with a similar front and back
- A person who has something of his own.
So, a person who knows how to respect others' things
- A person with wit in life
- A person who has substance in conversation.
A person whose eyes, gestures, and the flow of conversation are natural
- A person whose eyes sparkle when they talk about something they like
- Someone with whom I can talk about the future
I don't like this kind of person.
- A person who goes beyond having firm standards and enforces them.
- A person who judges everything easily
- A person who believes that the world he has experienced is everything and mistakenly believes that only that experience is correct.
- People who spend a lot of energy showing off
- A person who is rude to the weak
- People who don't want to learn
--- p.46, from “What I Consider Important in Human Relationships”
Congratulate and comfort in a timely manner
There is a timing for congratulations and condolences.
I've often missed the timing of congratulations because I wanted to be a little more considerate.
The same goes for comfort.
There are many words I tried to express with more sincerity, but couldn't bring myself to say, and many times I swallowed them inside out of fear.
A world overflowing with joy, yet also filled with sorrow. We live together in such a world.
Not missing the right timing for congratulations and condolences.
That may be the most basic of the basics needed to live a good life.
--- p.66, from “My Own Code of Conduct”
The direction of the heart, the direction of the gaze, the direction of affection.
Affection is hard work.
Checking and asking again, extending a hand first...
Kindness is a skill.
Unlike manners, which can be learned, kindness must be cultivated consistently.
Affection is slow.
It slowly seeps out like tea in warm water.
Affection is ineffective.
Affectionate people spend more time with others than others.
Move first and take interest first.
Even the same words require more effort and time.
How affectionate I am to whom.
Who else is receiving affectionate attention and love?
--- p.72, from “What is affection?”
- Before spring comes, the weather seems to stir nature.
- A cafe with delicious lattes
- New full-length album by your favorite artist
- A song that makes you cry
- A leisurely day without a plan
- Bingsu in summer, bungeoppang in winter
- Sunsets seen at travel destinations
- Deposit notification, courier arrival text message
- Good news from an unknown number
- New job
- Time to go to bed every day with a cozy blanket
--- p.87, from “The thing that excites me the most”

Publisher's Review
When you go through a turning point in life
I need time to organize my thoughts.
As we live, we constantly experience change.
After the days of job seekers worrying about an uncertain future, the time to consider changing jobs quickly comes, and as the first digit of one's age changes, one's own mindset and the views of others change.
When I see my friends getting married, having children, buying houses, and living stable lives, I sometimes feel anxious.
Worries about love and breakups, friendships and relationships also come periodically.
In the midst of these changes, when various worries are entangled, I can't do anything and my mind is just busy.
At times like this, I need to start by organizing my thoughts.
Let's look back on the times that have passed, examine our current values, and dream of the distant future according to the questions this book poses.
As your thoughts become more organized, you will begin to see a direction in which to move forward.
If you want to write well, start by writing your thoughts.
One of the benefits of this book is that if you consistently answer the questions, you will be able to write well.
What defines good writing? While we might consider it to be "a piece of writing with flawless logic and flowing sentences," not everyone can easily achieve this.
If you define that standard as 'writing that expresses one's own thoughts naturally and in a way that is characteristic of that person,' then anyone can write a good piece.
If you're struggling to improve your writing skills but aren't getting any better, try practicing writing your thoughts.
The method is simple.
Keep 《Thought Source》 by your side and write down one answer per day or one answer per week according to your own routine.
It's okay if the sentences are messy, so let's just freely express the thoughts floating around in our heads.
You can write down short thoughts and then connect them appropriately to write a longer piece, or you can write a long piece of whatever comes to mind and then organize it into a single sentence.
Everything written will be 'my story', so what could be a better subject than this!
A book of my own, a book just for me, created by answering questions.
This book is divided into four chapters.
[Ch 1.
[Past Times] contains questions that allow you to look back on your life so far, such as ‘People who have had a great influence on my life’ and ‘Things that I only now understand as time goes by.’
[Ch 2.
In [Moments of Change], you can write about your thoughts that have changed over time, such as 'criteria for choosing a career and workplace' and 'the biggest change that has occurred recently'.
[Ch 3.
[Fleeting Thoughts] is composed of questions that can be easily thought of in everyday life, such as ‘What is the most important thing in your photo album?’ and ‘My own code of conduct.’
[Ch 4.
In [Dreaming Appearances], questions such as ‘My definition of a successful life’ and ‘A topic I want to understand more deeply’ are asked that make one dream about the near or distant future.
Ultimately, writing is ‘writing thoughts.’
Because we are busy, we want to get the answers that will help us right away, but at the same time, we gradually lose the power to think.
As more time passes, you will stumble over answers to simple questions asked by others, and your mind will become blank when you try to write a short piece of writing.
Even if I have numerous experiences, meet various people, and live diligently, if I don't think about it, I don't feel like something is building up inside me.
Eventually, your confidence will drop and your faith in yourself will fade.
In such cases, let's open this book.
If I complete a book by looking at my life from various perspectives, I can lean on my thoughts for strength whenever I feel lost in life.
