『Basic Hair Science』 is a book that answers random questions that arise during conversations with customers.
It is easy to understand hair science that can be learned with a salon work mindset.
If you have this book around your step room, you can immediately resolve any questions you have about salon work!

Easy to read and understand with illustrations.

1.
Changes in the cuticle and cortex due to aging

Looking at this content, you can see that after the age of 40, the cuticle thickness rapidly thins and the elasticity of the hair decreases very quickly.
Although the cuticle layer accounts for only about 15% of hair, its effect on hair elasticity is over 50%.
When it comes to hair care, it's important to keep in mind that you need to pay attention to the initial stages of damage, starting with the cuticles.

2.
head spa

We provide detailed scientific data on the effects of head spa.
Head spas are an area that should be actively introduced and established in beauty salons in Korea in the future, where new added value can be created.
I hope it is actively utilized.

3.
Bleach

The first edition of Basic Hair Science has been supplemented with information on bleaching agents, which were not covered in the first edition.
This will be of great help in establishing a theoretical foundation for more appropriate use of bleach, which can be a significant burden on hair even with a single use, to minimize damage and achieve the desired results accurately.
Additionally, we are introducing a new drug called Flexer, which can suppress excessive oxidation during bleaching. By applying this, we hope to enable a safer bleaching procedure.

4.
Sanyeol Treatment (Clinic), Reactive Treatment

We are introducing the latest medicines and technologies of the Mojilgae Clinic.
This is important information that can be utilized well in our beauty salon in the future and greatly contribute to increasing the salon's profits.
Be sure to study.

This is Yongjun Kim, CEO of Keracure, who was in charge of reviewing the “Perm” section of “Basic Hair Science Revised Edition.”

It's been 24 years since I started my hairdressing business, and while running a salon specializing in heat perms from the beginning, I've experienced a lot of trial and error in the field. While technology and experience are important in the heat perm field, I've keenly felt that if you don't have a solid foundation in hair science, you'll easily repeat the same mistakes and not grow any further.

The more I do beauty, the more difficult it seems.
The thing I was most disappointed about while focusing on heat perms was the problem of “repeatability,” where although the first heat perm treatment yielded relatively good results, it became difficult to achieve the desired results from the second time onwards.
The “principle of double reduction,” which is well explained in the first edition of “Basic Hair Science,” provided the theoretical basis for this problem.

We have successfully solved the problem of “repeatability” by creating a treatment manual based on the theory of adjusting the appropriate ratio of use of two resources, hydrophilic keratin (matrix) and hydrophobic keratin (fibril), which exist in hair, depending on the degree of damage.
However, since the focus of the “double reduction” procedure is limited to the “softening” stage, and the role of “softening” itself has not changed in the existing perm theory, the procedure cannot help but be performed with the burden of damaging the hair.

In this revised edition of “Basic Hair Science,” [acid treatment, reactive treatment, hydrogen treatment] are introduced as hair quality improvement menus, especially in the straight section.
We are introducing the latest treatments (clinics) and technologies that not only minimize damage through re-linking (cross-linking) between proteins within the hair while significantly reducing the role of the “softening” stage in the process of straightening curly hair, but also have the effect of “improving hair quality” the more treatments are performed.

I believe that the softening perm that has spread in our country will create new added value when combined with hair quality improvement treatment.
We hope that the recently published “Basic Hair Science Revised Edition” will contribute to enhancing added value through qualitative improvement in beauty.

BOOK REVIEW

Since publishing Basic Hair Science in October 2020, I have had a busy and happy time studying hair science with numerous hairdressers over the past three years.
Above all, it was very helpful to be able to use the book “Basic Hair Science” as a textbook that contained content that could be applied directly in the beauty industry.
Less than three years after the publication of “Basic Hair Science,” we are now publishing the revised edition of “Basic Hair Science.”

Above all, for this publication, Mr. Sang-gyu Kim, CEO of Abeche Lab, participated in the color section, and Mr. Yong-jun Kim, CEO of Keracure, participated in the perm section. They worked hard to ensure that the specialized content could be better conveyed to our hairdressers and to further enhance the completeness of the book.
Additionally, it was most meaningful that it directly reflected the new changes in the beauty industry that had occurred over the past three years and that it was possible to introduce these changes to Korea as quickly as possible.

All of the issues covered in the first edition are important and core to our beauticians, but in celebration of the book's publication, I'd like to first introduce a few important new contents of the "revised edition" and introduce those pages as they are.
