Even adults have a hard time adjusting to new environments, so it's hard to imagine what it's like for a child who immigrates to a new country.
A child placed in an environment where they cannot communicate is bound to feel isolated and fearful, and it will take a long time for them to feel a sense of belonging in their new society.
There are currently over 2.5 million foreign residents living in South Korea (as of 2023), and the proportion of multicultural students in elementary and middle schools is 3.8% (as of 2024).
It is said that over 230,000 people will acquire Korean citizenship in 2023.
