Publisher's Review
The final work of Kazuo Inamori, the "God of Management."

Kazuo Inamori, the chairman who founded Kyocera, a Japanese electronics manufacturer, and grew it into a global company, stepped down from the front lines of management in 2005.
He took over as unpaid chairman of Japan Airlines (JAL) in 2010 when it was facing bankruptcy.
After taking office, he implemented bold restructuring measures, including eliminating Japan Airlines' loss-making routes and laying off 16,000 employees.
Japan Airlines, which passed through the hands of Chairman Inamori, was able to get back on track by being listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange again in 2012, two years and eight months after going bankrupt.

In Japan, Chairman Inamori was called the "God of Management" in recognition of his outstanding management skills.
After retiring, Chairman Inamori mainly worked at Seiwajyuku, a management academy where students study his management philosophy, and the Inamori Foundation, which discovers people who have contributed to the development of culture and technology, until he passed away in August 2022.

"Kazuo Inamori's Last Lesson" was written based on lectures given by Chairman Inamori at Seiwajyuku (at the West Japan District Year-End President's Reception in December 2012 and the World Convention in July 2013).
The preface to the book he left behind in August 2022 became his final words of advice.

To the next generation of managers and executives of large corporations responsible for the organization

The young executives from small and medium-sized enterprises who gathered at Seiwajyuku to hear Chairman Inamori's lecture were working tirelessly to continue their corporate management as next-generation executives.
Chairman Inamori asked them, “What efforts are you making to grow your business?”
But I couldn't hear a serious answer.
This is because they did not know the fundamentals of how to manage well and how to grow and develop the company.

The situation is the same for executives of large corporations.
They rise to leadership positions after accumulating extensive experience in a single field, such as technology development, sales, or human resources, but their perspective on the company as a whole is narrow.
Because I haven't really thought about 'how I want to lead this company,' I often end up repeating old ways.

The reality of the business environment is that most people who are responsible for corporate management have neither learned nor experienced the basics of how to manage well.

12 Proven Management Principles for Business Leaders

The "12 Management Principles" were compiled by Chairman Inamori to help the next generation of managers and executives of large corporations, who are responsible for corporate management, understand and practice the most important management principles.

Chairman Inamori states his 12 management principles in short, easy-to-understand language.
So, you might think, 'Is this really enough for management?' However, the '12 Management Principles' have exerted tremendous power in management across all industries and business types, from large corporations like Kyocera, KDDI, and Japan Airlines to small and medium-sized enterprises.

Corporate executives who studied Chairman Inamori's management philosophy were able to understand the "12 principles of management" and break free from the bureaucratic mindset of the past, acquiring the awareness and thinking necessary for managers.
Along with this, the company's profitability also improved significantly.

Each management principle consists of a "lecture," a "summary" summarizing the lecture's key points, and supplementary remarks by Chairman Inamori related to the lecture topic.
If you've ever thought management was vague and difficult, pay attention to Chairman Inamori's lecture.
If I put these 12 management principles into practice, my company and business will definitely do well.
