Description
Book Introduction
This is the second novel by Jeong Se-rang, winner of the Changbi Novel Award and the Hankook Ilbo Literary Award, and it depicts a very rare kind of love story between the alien Gyeong-min and the Earthling Hana. After its publication in 2012, it was unfortunately out of print and was so beloved by readers that used copies were sold at high prices. Nanda is republishing this story in a revised edition. The content and sentences throughout the story have been meticulously refined, and the cover has been given a new look with a painting by artist Chae Ji-min. Readers invited into the world of Jeong Se-rang, characterized by a lively and witty writing style and a tenderness that could bring tears to their eyes, will be helplessly captivated by his unwavering sincerity. Hana is a clothing reform designer who personally practices a low-carbon lifestyle, and is touched by the sight of someone putting just the right amount of toothpaste on a toothbrush. She runs a small clothing repair shop called 'Hwansaeng', where she adds a little newness to clothes that contain someone's story and time. Hana has a boyfriend named Kyungmin, whom she has liked since she was 20 and has known for 11 years. Unlike Hana, who always tries to stay in familiar places, Kyungmin, who lives a free-spirited life, goes off to Canada alone this summer to see a meteor shower. Han-ah always felt bad for Kyung-min, who didn't take her circumstances into consideration, but she thought that there was a kind of affection that could be called resignation. Hana is worried about the news that a meteorite has fallen in Canada and caused a commotion. Kyungmin returned safely, but something felt strangely unfamiliar. The large scar on his arm disappeared, and he now enjoys eating the eggplant salad he used to hate so much. And more than anything, he was the one who always made Hana wait, but now he focuses on her every moment and makes her feel like they are “with her a little longer.” Han-ah, who is suspicious of Kyung-min's changed appearance and suspicious behavior, becomes confused and thinks something is wrong... |

Novelist Jeong Se-rang has flexibly expanded the territory of Korean literature by securing her own unique color at the boundary between pure literature and genre literature.
He called out the names of people who seemed to have passed by somewhere at least once, and shed a small light on their lives.
The praise readers send him as a "trustworthy writer" likely reflects trust and support for his rich reflections on minority identity, his keen sense of violence, and his ethics of deeply contemplating contemporary issues that are excluded and hidden from the mainstream and closely incorporating them into his work.
In this way, Jeong Se-rang became ‘a name that cannot be left out of today’s Korean literature’ (In A-young).
Author Jeong Se-rang, who once said, "I want to write novels that protect the female readers who come after me," creates male characters with clear faces who can be "good citizens" in her works.
The author questions whether it is possible to imagine other options, expanding the meaning of marriage beyond monogamous heterosexual unions to encompass diverse relationships that can exist together, as the institution of marriage does not seem to be the best form of union between two people in love.
The novel's cover was created using two works by artist Chae Ji-min.
One is a general edition, and the other is a limited edition that can only be found at local bookstores.
In the first place, I had been preparing for a long time to pick out the two pictures and use them as the two versions of the cover.
After reading the novel, you will probably immediately understand why these two are like that.
First of all, it is a 'love' story between two people.
Unlike when two people in love are facing each other, when these two people are facing the same direction, the eternity is like that. In fact, I think that love can only truly be called “eternal” when it relies on such “loyalty.”
