Description
Book Introduction
『Your Name』, which pioneered a new era in animation!
Director Makoto Shinkai's film, with the theme of miraculous love,
Another message was included in the novel.

"Your Name" rewrote the history of Japanese animated films in 2016.
Ranked 7th in the all-time Japanese box office rankings, with 13 million viewers (as of November 2016), this film established director Makoto Shinkai as a next-generation master.
He has been adapting his own animations into novels, and this time, with his delicate writing style, the novel has sold over 1 million copies in Japan (as of November 2016).

"Your Name" wasn't initially intended to be a novel, but it was written three months before the film was completed to complement the animation.
While the film focuses on the love between a man and a woman that transcends time and space, the novel can be seen as adding another message on top of this theme of love.
That is what the appearance of the comet in the work tells us.
“The meaning engraved in form will surely come back to life someday.” This world continues to tell us stories, something passed down from the past.
However, people live on, erasing themselves even though they are in their memories.
Director Makoto Shinkai may have wanted to say that the message will surely come back to life and come to us like a miraculous love, and that we must live beautifully and struggle to remember it.

"Your Name" rewrote the history of Japanese film box office success in 2016!
Director Makoto Shinkai, who has emerged as the next generation master of animation
Within the theme of miraculous love, another message is included in the novel.

“I’m going to find you, whom I haven’t met yet.”

Mitsuha, a high school girl living in a rural village, one day dreams of becoming a man.
An unfamiliar room, new friends, and the streets of the big city of Tokyo unfolding before your eyes.
Meanwhile, Takido, a high school boy living in Tokyo, dreams of becoming a high school girl in a rural village.
Finally, the two realize that they have switched places in their dreams.
But one day, their bodies no longer switch, and Taki, relying on his dreams, sets out to find Mitsuha…

“The meaning engraved in the form will surely come back to life someday.”

Comet Tiamat, which orbits the sun every 1,200 years, will soon approach Earth.
The world is engulfed in a festive atmosphere as the comet's bright blue tail lights up the night sky.
But human science did not anticipate it.
That nuke will explode near the Earth… … .
This world has always conveyed messages through the thread knots handed down from Miyamizu Shrine.
However, humans live their lives erasing the meaning from their memories, just as they forget people's names.
Along with the miraculous love, another topic raised by director Makoto Shinkai is contained in the novel.

The original novel was written 3 months before the completion of the animation!

Actually, at first I had no intention of writing this novel.
I know it might be rude to say this to my readers, but I thought that "Your Name" was best suited as an animated film.

This book, "Your Name," is a novel version of the animated film I directed that was released in Japan in the summer of 2016.
In other words, it can be said to be a novel version of the movie, but in fact, as I write this review, the movie has not yet been completed.
It will probably take about three months to complete.
