Description
Book Introduction
“If you really want it, can you make it your own?”
On the Lament of a Space Junk Cleaner

The new work, "The Road to Myself," by Jeon Sam-hye, who has been loved by many readers for "Witch's Delivery" and "Outside the Orbit, To My Roommate," has been published as part of the Wisdom House short story series, Wipick.
《The Road to Myself》 is the story of a space cleaner who picks up trash in the vast universe and mourns for his loved ones.
Sihyeon's job is a debris picker who collects valuable trash from all over the universe.
However, the trash that Sihyeon collects often has 'Naram' attached to it, which is called a space ghost.
The thoughts that fill the universe absorb information from the objects that people discard and become living beings that move as if they were alive.
Some people wanted to bring back their dead family members in their own way.
Will Si-hyeon, who sets out to find the belongings of his younger sister, A-young, whom he lost when he was young, eventually be able to create something of his own?
Sihyeon's small debris guide ship flies through the narrow gap between the desire to meet again somehow and the desire to disperse and find comfort.

Into the book
The things attached to the debris were things that had to be removed.
It was like a siren that you meet on the sea while sailing in a small boat.
Surprisingly, it is called a siren rather than a reef because it is noisy.
In the thin air of space, these transmit sound directly into a person's head.
The complaints of the disposal workers were that it was truly ghost-like.
Debris with noisy sounds were considered defective.
If you were to lay tiles made from debris on your new spaceship, you wouldn't want them to make a lot of noise.
I understand.
So I had to convince these people who were attached to the debris to get rid of them.
To make money.

“You are not the little prince.”
I shook my head.
Because he believed he was the little prince.

People have sent all sorts of things into space.
One of them was a skeleton.
The composition of a human being is like a star, and when a person dies, it is said metaphorically that he or she 'became a star in the sky.'
So a company emerged that promised to send remains into space safely, so that the deceased could be seen in the night sky at any time.

Children's dream is still to travel freely throughout the universe.
Just like when I was young, I wanted to travel all over the world.
Children on Earth dream of space, and children in space dream of space.

Children who dream of going into space showed a lot of interest in my job as a 'space junk cleaner.'
To be exact, my job was simply to throw a magnet when debris appeared, attract the magnets attached to the debris, collect them, and then throw them into a certain area, but the kids cheered as if I were the first person to walk on the moon.
okay.
It's true that space junk seems more interesting to astrophysicists or exoplanet geologists than it is to astrophysicists or exoplanet geologists.

Creating something of one's own is something many people dream of.

Publisher's Review
“If you really want it, can you make it your own?”
On the Lament of a Space Junk Cleaner

The new work, "The Road to Myself," by Jeon Sam-hye, who has been loved by many readers for "Witch's Delivery" and "Outside the Orbit, To My Roommate," has been published as part of the Wisdom House short story series, Wipick.
《The Road to Myself》 is the story of a space cleaner who picks up trash in the vast universe and mourns for his loved ones.

At some point throughout history, people have harbored a desire to bring the dead back to life.
It was the same when we left Earth and began to travel through space.

The more detailed the story of an item, the more likely it is to have something attached to it.
Some people wanted to bring back their dead family members in their own way.

Sihyeon's second job is a junk disposal worker who gets rid of junk.
Although it is disgusting for Si-Hyeon to cling to products and make a lot of noise, there is someone precious to him who passed away first when he was young.
Will Si-hyeon, who sets out to find 'Ah-young's' remains, eventually create something of his own?
Even if it is imperfect, even if it ends in misfortune, the small debris guidance line of Sihyeon flies through the narrow gap between the desire to meet again and the desire to be separated and find comfort.

When Ah-young passed away, Si-hyeon lost both her younger sibling and her parents at the same time.
He had to take care of himself and his family instead of his parents who could not take care of their remaining children and themselves. Only after he met someone to lean on in the form of 'Sister Seonwoo' was he finally able to mourn Ah-young properly after a long time.
As author Jeon Sam-hye's introduction states, "I write stories for people who had to become adults too soon," "The Road to Myself" quietly approaches lonely people and provides a space for them to reflect on their loss.

50 stories in 50 books in one year
A special experience that allows you to breathe deeply into 'a single story'

Beginning in November 2022, Wisdom House will be introducing the most diverse and newest stories of Korean literature, one per week, through its short story serial project, "Weekly Fiction."
The series is released every Wednesday through the Wisdom House website and newsletter 'We Pick'.
Beginning with author Koo Byeong-mo's "Shred," 50 stories will be released to readers over the course of a year.
The Wepick series publishes novels that have finished serialization in this way sequentially.
The first five stories will be released on March 8th, and four stories will be published every second Wednesday of the month thereafter, creating a festival of 50 stories throughout the year.

This time, rather than the conventional method of binding together several short stories, the book is composed of only one short story, an unusual attempt that provides readers with a special experience of breathing deeply into each story.
Wepick is not bound by any criteria or distinctions such as material or format, and focuses solely on the completeness of a single story.
Through novels by a variety of authors, including novelists, nonfiction writers, poets, and youth literature writers, we break down genres and boundaries, expanding the possibilities and enjoyment of stories.

There is also a special gift inside the book.
This is a supplementary poster titled 'One Novel', which contains an entire novel on one poster.
A single novel offers readers the special experience of encountering a story in a new way.

Introducing the Wepick Series

Wepick is a short story series from Wisdom House.
It offers a special experience of breathing deeply into ‘one story’.
I dream that this small piece will become a new piece that expands your world, that each small piece will come together to become your story, and that it will become a piece of literature that will be deeply engraved in your heart.
