Into the book
Blue was an expert on unrequited love.
I was used to falling in love alone and then sorting things out alone.
This time, I planned to wait until my feelings for him faded away.
If you approach it clumsily, you will only end up embarrassed.
Besides, we're coworkers.
Blue had no intention of doing anything with the beads.
No matter how deep you fall, all love passes.
After it's over, it's nothing.
Blue thought so.
I've been thinking that way for a long time.

But this time, for some reason, the cuckoo did not go into its house even after crowing twice.
“Is it broken?”
Blue muttered to himself.
Just then, a white cuckoo (a piece of wood painted white) sitting on the clock's pedestal spread its wings and flew into the air.
The cuckoo grew bigger and bigger, then turned into a real bird and sat on the bed.
“It’s not that it’s broken, but you could say that it has temporarily regained its soul.”
Blue was so surprised and scared that she couldn't move and just looked at the talking cuckoo.

“Oh! It turned out pretty good.
I can finish it quickly.
“Okay, hurry up and make a call!”
“To whom?”
Blue asked back, not understanding English.
“To the person you like! I told you.
It's called the board game of love.
The outcome of this board game depends on whether you find love or not.
“You have to roll the dice and move forward while following the instructions written on the space you move to.”
"Why are you telling me that now?" Purun wanted to argue, but she swallowed her anger, thinking that it wouldn't change anything.
But calling someone you like?
Blue thought of the bead's face and shook her head.

“When the dream ends, do I have to return to reality?”
“Well, that seems a little different...
I think dreams can change reality.
I think that if you only think about the current situation in front of you and think that is reality, you will end up giving up.
“I’d much rather dream about what I want and work towards making that dream a reality.”
Blue, without realizing it, spoke her thoughts in a heated voice, then scratched her head in embarrassment.
--- pp.49~50

“I will definitely achieve a happy ending!”
Blue clenched his fist.
I wondered how long it had been since I had felt this burning with determination.
It seemed like it might be the first time in my life.
If we limit it to matters of love, it really was like that.
“Okay, okay.
My heart races just watching it.
With that attitude, you have a good chance of winning.
You and I are both free from this spell and find freedom.
Go for it!"
--- pp.60~61

"It keeps getting better, what should I do?" Purun wrote in the remaining space at the corner of the page, then buried her face in her knees, where she was sitting upright.
“I really like you,” he muttered, feeling his heart fill with the words and resonate.
'I like you.
Really, really.
'I like you so much.' I couldn't do anything more.
Blue lay still and thought of the beads.
It was the first time I felt comfortable in love.
It was the first time I felt love without wanting to run away.
I just wanted to get closer.

Publisher's Review
“It was the first time I felt in love without wanting to run away.”

Author Jongsan Lee's 'Blue Marble' has been published as part of Wisdom House's short story series, Wipick.
Lee Jong-san has expanded his narratives based on his imagination about the daily lives and relationships of women and minorities, crossing genres such as science fiction, horror, and fantasy.
This work is a fantasy romance novel about a girl named Purun who has a crush on another girl named Guseul. The story begins when Purun, under a spell, becomes trapped in a game created by the gods.

Blue and Guseul, who work at the magazine 『Catch』, plan a board game as a souvenir for the magazine's 10th anniversary.
Blue, who had a crush on Gusul, is secretly happy about her collaboration with Gusul, but soon suppresses her feelings.
Because Blue was truly an expert in unrequited love.
One day, something strange happens to Purun, who finds it easier to turn away from her own love than to show her feelings to the person she likes.

12 o'clock at night.
A cuckoo clock hangs in Purun's room, and a cuckoo comes out to announce midnight. The cuckoo, which was just a model, spreads its wings and turns into a real bird, appearing in front of Purun.
Blue is startled by the dreamlike appearance of the cuckoo, but soon the so-called 'love game of love' begins under the cuckoo's leadership.
The target of this game, which resembles Blue Marble, is the 'marble' that Blue likes.
The only way to finish the game is to follow the instructions and approach the marble.
The outcome of the game depended on Purun, who was infinitely small in front of love.
In front of Lee Jong-san's love story for those who dreamed of a love that seemed impossible, readers will find themselves rooting for Purun's love.

50 stories in 50 books in one year
A special experience that allows you to breathe deeply into 'a single story'

Beginning in November 2022, Wisdom House will be introducing the most diverse and newest stories of Korean literature, one per week, through its short story serial project, "Weekly Fiction."
The series is released every Wednesday through the Wisdom House website and newsletter 'We Pick'.
Starting with author Koo Byeong-mo's "Shred," 50 stories are scheduled to meet readers over the course of a year.
The Wepick series publishes novels that have finished serialization in this way sequentially.
Starting with the first five stories on March 8th, four stories will be published every second Wednesday of the month, for a total of 50 story festivals throughout the year.
This time, rather than the conventional method of binding together several short stories, the book is composed of only one short story, an unusual attempt that provides readers with a special experience of breathing deeply into each story.
Wepick is not bound by any criteria or distinctions such as material or format, and focuses solely on the completeness of a single story.
Through novels by a variety of authors, including novelists, non-fiction writers, poets, and youth literature writers, we break down genres and boundaries, expanding the possibilities and enjoyment of stories.

There is also a special gift inside the book.
This is a supplementary poster titled 'One Novel', which contains an entire novel on one poster.
A single novel offers readers the special experience of encountering a story in a new way.

Introducing the Wepick Series

WEFIC is a short story series from Wisdom House.
It offers a special experience of breathing deeply into ‘one story’.
I dream that this small piece will become a new piece that expands your world, that each small piece will come together to become your story, and that it will become a piece of literature that will be deeply engraved in your heart.
