-From the author's note

The second story of 'Dajeong Jukjip', a restaurant where the cauldron and kitchen friends who have been making red bean porridge with the owner's grandmother all their lives come to life, 'Always Dajeong Jukjip 2.
The Secret of Cat Roll has been published.
"Affectionate Jukjip," which shows the beautiful cycle of affection returning to affection and allows readers to experience the warmth that fills the room after reading, welcomes readers with a story that spreads an even sweeter scent.
"Always Affectionate Jukjip" won the 30th Golden Toad Award and immediately spread as a nationwide craze for reading one book at a time (selected as the Book of the Year in Daegu, Yangju, Wanju, and Geumsan in 2025, Gyeongnam Books) and was included in the 4th grade elementary school Korean language textbook, establishing itself as a bestseller read by children and adults alike.

In Volume 1 of 『Always Affectionate Porridge House』, the grandmother's heart of 'giving two more spoons' that she showed throughout her life, and the affection she showed long ago that eventually returned to her and helped her overcome the crisis that befell the store, gave us, who are tired of competition and selfishness, a warm feeling.
If Volume 1 showed the care and coexistence of the tools of the bamboo house, the grandmother, and Da-jeong, saving each other, Volume 2, "The Secret of Cat Roll," contains the affection that comforts the heart that is pouting at others due to loneliness that has crept in, and the image of communication that connects with the world.

The newly renovated Dajeong Jukjip with its new menu item, ‘Cat Bread’, is much loved by customers.
But one day, Da-jeong comes to visit her grandmother in a slumped state.
The bakery's operation became difficult after a person called 'Lonely Tiger' started posting malicious comments on the bakery's SNS account.
The kitchen friends of Jukjip decide to join forces once again.
But where did Patnyangi disappear to? Who on earth is this lonely tiger?

Through the series “Always Affectionate House,” author Woo Shin-young talks about the power and possibilities of “affection.”
It's a fantasy filled with the magical power of 'Kkukkuk', where kitchen utensils come to life, but after closing the book, you'll find yourself wishing deep in your heart that it's not just a fantasy, but reality.
We are all people who always want to hear a kind look and a word from the other person, so somehow we want to believe in this affectionate story and share it endlessly.

Publisher's Review
◆ Are you making a cat roll this time?
A special roll cake recipe to defeat the lonely tiger

It's been four months since someone with the ID 'Lonely Tiger' left malicious comments on the Dajeong Bakery account.
Malicious comments have a strange power, and like sharp thorns sprouting out, customers' complaints about Dajeong Bakery begin to pour in.
Why does the 'lonely tiger', who has never even seen the face, hate Da-jeong and the bakery so much?

What we need to do now is to gather our minds and try together.
I can't just let go and let Da-jeong go like this.
-In the text

Da-jeong, who had been stubbornly holding on to her promise to make bread with an honest heart, eventually goes to the grandmother at the bamboo shop and declares that she will quit the shop and leave the neighborhood.
Gamasot and his kitchen friends, who understand better than anyone the frustration of not being able to do what they love and having to keep a shop empty of customers, worry about what they can do during the remaining time until December 31st, when Dajeong decides to close the shop.

“Roll cakes are shared on special days like birthdays and sad days like visiting a sick person.
“It’s similar to the red bean porridge we eat on the winter solstice or when we’re sick.” - From the text

At that moment, Gamasot overhears a conversation between the owner of a fruit shop and an old woman who happened to be visiting the porridge shop, and a brilliant idea comes to mind.
That's right, making a roll cake with red bean paste from Jukjip.
Although it may not be as fancy as a cake, a roll cake with the meaning of congratulations and comfort could be a new menu item suitable for a sweet home.
But cake? They've made cat bread, but can the kitchen tools of Jukjip make a Western dessert that requires an oven and mixer? Before you know it, the kitchen tools, having learned Korean under Indu's guidance, are in full swing.

◆ “Okay, let’s go.
“Let’s take care of each other so we don’t get lost.”
Clutching their fear and courage, the cauldron and kitchen friends venture out of the loving porridge house.

On a snowy midwinter night, Patnyangi, who had been missing for a long time, returns to find his kitchen friends.
Patnyangi, who has been 'tail-wounding' the cauldron, spatula, bowl, red bean paste, and soldering iron one by one, leads his friends to the Dajeong Bakery.
The bamboo hut workers, who had never been outside in their many years of working there, are afraid, but they open the door and go out for their first nighttime walk.

The moment we left the porridge house, the cold, sweet night air surrounded us.
(...) I was scared, but each other's warmth gave me courage.
-In the text

We live individually and together, connected to others by invisible strings, influencing each other.
The reason why the scene showing kitchen tools leaving the store to return the favor they received from Da-jeong is so touching is probably because it clearly shows the invisible strings that connect us to others.

The bamboo grocer's tools bravely set out into the dark and strode into the Dajeong Bakery they had only heard about.
And there, I met new friends and made a roll cake for the first time in my life.
Will people really like the red bean roll cake? Can it deliver a surprising flavor that will defeat the lonely tiger? The adventure to save the sweet bakery has just begun.

This is 'Dajeong Jukjip', where old and outdated kitchen friends come to life.

But… I have to close the store in two weeks.
