Book Introduction
The genie of the lamp appeared before my eyes in the 21st century!
A hilarious comedy fairy tale from Lee Ji-eum, author of "Gangnam Boss."

“Hello, customer. Your wish has a 100% success rate.
Thank you for visiting ‘Your Wish Will Be Granted.’

Is there anything more exciting than the word "wish" to welcome the New Year? "Your Wish Will Be Granted," the story that brings the genie from the lamp, once a fantasy, into our 21st century lives, has been published by Biryongso ahead of the New Year 2022.
This is a new fairy tale by Lee Ji-eum, winner of the 26th Golden Toad Award for "Gangnam Boss." It contains the story of 'Genie', who developed an app that grants wishes, and 'Da-hee', who invites him to fulfill her wish of becoming rich, as they search for their true wishes.

"Gangnam Boss" is a children's story that has garnered much attention and love for its imagination and clever humor, combined with the special and timely subject matter of a YouTube star cat.
In this new work, "I'll Grant Your Wish," you can fully enjoy the unique characters and humor that defy author Lee Ji-eum's expectations.
Twelve-year-old Da-hee boldly asks why Aladdin granted his wish just because he was lucky enough to find a lamp, and why he doesn't grant wishes to people who have lived honest and good lives. Genie, who became a free man but earned a first-class wish counselor license and developed a wish app to make money and become human.
Dahee, who became Genie's first customer, gets closer to her true wish through Genie's 'Wish Project', a self-proclaimed wish expert.
The words of Genie, who constantly asks questions about Dahee's wish to become rich, contain a message about the true meaning of 'wish' and the importance of 'process'.

Following 『Gangnam Boss』, Kookmin Ji takes on the illustration, creating a fantastic combination of text and pictures.
The illustrations, which add a layer of imagination to the detailed descriptions and the never-before-seen appearance of Aladdin, provide another level of enjoyment throughout the book.

Into the book
What's your wish? We'll grant it.
However, we cannot grant wishes regarding faith.
God does not force that on humans.

Why should what you love be linked to success?

Does Genie know how many people in this world work hard and live? It's so unfair to turn their lives around just because they found a lamp.

The fact that I achieve my wish is because someone else paved the way for me, not because of my hard work or my good deeds.
In other words, even if I don't achieve my wish, my failure can become a path to someone else's wish.

More important than what kind of wishes I have is what kind of faith I have.
Only those who have faith can experience miracles that transcend fate.

People who live with a wish in their heart and people who live without a wish have different quality of life.
Dignity is a special quality that only those who have aspirations can enjoy.
That's perhaps more noble than whether or not you achieve it.

Publisher's Review
◆ Now is the time.
It's time to fulfill the wish of a lifetime.

Does Genie know how many people in this world work hard and live? It's so unfair to turn their lives around just because they found a lamp.
(In the text)

The more Dahee thinks about it, the more she feels wronged.
Why did the restaurant run by my mom and dad, who were better cooks than anyone else and worked hard, go bankrupt? Why can't I escape poverty no matter how hard I try?
However, in the movie, Aladdin is a thief who just happens to find a lamp, but he easily gets his wish.
If they were fairies, shouldn't they be a little more fair? Then, as if by chance, a genie from a lamp suddenly appeared from a "wishing app" I'd downloaded.
Now, Dahee finally has the chance to become rich.

He has a scruffy head, a hunched face, and a backpack, which makes him look suspicious, but he is clearly a blue-haired man with a lower body made of smoke.
Genie calls Dahee "customer" and tells her that she developed the wish app to make money.
Dahee shouts out her wish to become rich right away, but Genie responds as if she is tired of such wishes.
In addition, the items needed to make wishes come out one after another from Genie's backpack...
Will Dahee be able to fulfill her once-in-a-lifetime wish?

◆ The emergence of a 21st-century genie unlike anything you've ever seen before

People who live with a wish in their heart and people who live without a wish have different quality of life.
Dignity is a special quality that only those who have aspirations can enjoy.
(In the text)

Genie, who was set free thanks to Sunja of Bangreu Restaurant, the last owner of the lamp, started a so-called wish business, using his background as a 'wish expert' who has been granting people's wishes for thousands of years.
After earning money and becoming a human, he wants to stay by the side of Sunja, whom he has a crush on.
Dahee, who imagined Genie's appearance in the movie, is bewildered by Genie's unexpected character.
He is moved to tears by the food Da-hee prepares for him, and he continues to brag to Da-hee about the books he has read over the years.
Dahee had hoped for a fairy who would grant her wishes just by asking, but Genie doesn't seem to want to grant her wishes right away. Instead, he encourages her to buy all kinds of wishing tools, and he keeps pressing the pause button on Dahee's thoughts and words.

Genie wants to become a 'feeling rich person' who enjoys the process of getting to the destination rather than just getting there quickly.
Genie says that even the feeling of being ruined and failing is important.
Although he spouts words with a dreamy expression like Don Quixote, and it is hard to tell where they will end up, Genie's story contains serious questions that make us think again about the meaning of 'wish'.
The story is full of lively laughter, as if you are watching a comedy play between Dahee, the human representative, and Genie, the fairy representative.

Living as a master is exciting because I can pour my heart and soul into what I love.
So what if I fail? As long as I can enjoy it when it's good, as long as I can use my mind as I please, I'm okay with failure.
And I believe! When you pour your heart and soul into something you love, magic happens!
