『The General's Rice Cake Shop』 and 『The Wish Rice Cake Shop』, sequels to 『Manbok's Rice Cake Shop』, which was included in the 3rd grade Korean language textbook and has sold a cumulative 200,000 copies since its publication in 2010, have been published by Biryongso.
"Manbok's Rice Cake Shop" is a fairy tale about the sweet transformation that Manbok, who was called a swearer and a grumpy boy because he spoke badly and did bad things contrary to his heart, experiences after meeting a mysterious rice cake shop.
It is evaluated as a model of literature for lower grades and is much loved by young readers for its sensitive story that touches on children's realistic problems and warmly embraces their hearts with a chewy texture reminiscent of reading a traditional fairy tale.
Although it was originally written as a single volume, children's voices continued to be heard on-site asking for a sequel due to the appearance of 'The General's Rice Cake Shop' at the end of the story.
The two sequels, published simultaneously after ten years, are also the author's response to the readers' enthusiastic support.
Painter Lee Seung-hyun was in charge of the illustrations for two books following 『Manbok's Rice Cake Shop』.

"Wish Rice Cake Shop" shows the journey of a squirrel who was born with no talent and dreamed of becoming human, becoming a deliveryman who delivers wish rice cakes to children, healing not only himself but also the wounded children.
At the end of these three stories, a protagonist appears who continues the next story.
