The topic we will learn about in Volume 9 is ‘Geography of the Korean Peninsula.’
"Why is the Korean Peninsula a peninsula?", "How far does our country extend?", "Why was the DMZ created?", "What is Baekdudaegan?", "Why are tidal flats special?", "Why should we protect World Natural Heritage?", etc. Let's delve into the natural environment and geography of the Korean Peninsula one by one with the new K-Detective, Blue Nyang!

“Oh my God! Tell me!”
Everything you need to know about the geography of the Korean Peninsula!

The ninth story in the series “K-Detective’s Cheok Cheok Cheok Republic of Korea,” “Find the Ongjido on the Korean Peninsula!” is a story about the geography and natural environment of the Korean Peninsula.
It contains the process of the New K-Detective and his friends from the World Detective Camp traveling around the Korean Peninsula in search of travel writer Ongjido and discovering the preciousness and beauty of our land.

As you explore Dokdo, the DMZ, Baekdudaegan, the tidal flats, and Jeju Island, you will learn that the Korean Peninsula is surrounded by sea on three sides, and how this geographical characteristic has influenced our history and culture.
For example, thanks to our location as a peninsula, our country has been able to diversify its lifestyle by utilizing both land and sea routes.
Additionally, the painful history of becoming a route for invasion by continental and maritime powers, such as the Goryeo-Mongol War and the Imjin War, is vividly revealed.

In addition to common knowledge such as the concept of national territory and world natural heritage, you will also encounter a variety of interesting stories related to the geography and topography of the Korean Peninsula.
We take a look at the lives of the residents of Daeseong-dong village within the demilitarized zone (DMZ), and learn that there is a curfew and no taxes.
We learn that the Baekdu Daegan Mountain Range, which stretches from Baekdu Mountain to Jirisan Mountain, was formed tens of millions of years ago when the eastern part of the land rose, and we also look into how pollack caught in the East Sea is turned into dried pollack.
You will also come to realize the value of the DMZ, which has become a habitat for endangered animals, and the tidal flats, where over 2,000 species of creatures live and 54,000 migratory birds pass by.

In the 'Oh My God Encyclopedia' corner, presented by New K-Detective, we summarize six key concepts about the geography of the Korean Peninsula that you must know.
The 'K-Detective's Surprise Quiz' corner helps children gain general knowledge through interesting quizzes such as 'Can you express the location of a country in numbers?', 'Is there a country whose border you can cross without a passport?', and 'Do animals live in the DMZ?', and the 'K-Detective's World Exploration' corner helps children broaden their perspective on the world and build broad knowledge through quizzes such as 'Portugal's Prince Henry the Navigator', 'Territorial dispute between Palestine and Israel', 'Which country's land is Antarctica?', and 'Guinness World Geography'.
Problem-solving activities throughout the story encourage active reading by allowing readers to participate directly.
