Self-Directed Learning Coaching Program
Self-Directed Learning Coaching Program
Description
Book Introduction
Includes self-directed learning programs for field use.
"Providing a proven, practical program and practical guidance for learning coaching."

Voices have been continuously emphasizing the necessity and importance of self-directed learning, and students also hope to engage in self-directed learning.
The problem is how to establish self-directed learning as a habit.
Many people who guide learning hesitate on the 'how'.
This book presents a program based on field experience, answering the question and request, "How should we teach?"
The various activities included in the book have already been used and verified in the field, so you can select and use them appropriately according to your needs at home, school, or academy.
One thing to note is that you should not proceed with the class in order from the very beginning.
The purpose of including various activity sheets by topic is to allow coaches to select and use them appropriately for each situation, taking into account the characteristics of each student.

This book is composed mainly of programs and activity sheets that can be used in the field of learning coaching.
We've included worksheets that can be used in after-school programs, camp programs, and one-on-one learning coaching, and we've included simple explanations so that even readers who haven't read other books on self-directed learning can easily understand them.
In this changing era, the demand for self-directed learning is increasing day by day, but there is a significant shortage of learning coaches with field experience.
I hope this book will be of great help to learning coaches working in the field and parents guiding their children.

Publisher's Review
“Overcoming the difficulties of self-directed learning through real-life examples of learning coaching!”
“Cultivate self-directed learning habits with simple study methods!”

Self-directed learning is possible when several factors are combined, including a positive attitude toward learning, the ability to read well, and appropriate learning techniques.
Therefore, those who guide children's learning must consider these factors and provide coaching tailored to the child's tendencies and characteristics.
Of course, most parents and teachers are aware of this fact, but they cannot be sure.
So I'll ask again.
"So how should I guide you? Please tell me how."

If I had to pick just one activity that is the most important in self-directed learning, I would say it is 'reading class.'
In particular, the '3SR2E study method', which summarizes the core of reading, must be practiced and consistently implemented to ensure thorough learning.
If you can master just this method, you can say that you have sufficiently mastered the basics of self-directed learning.
This is because the '3SR2E study method' is designed to help you learn most of the important study skills, such as previewing, reviewing, understanding, remembering, concentrating, and immersion.

Another essential activity is writing a ‘weekly reflection journal.’
You should take time to reflect on your life about once a week and think about what and how you can improve and put it into practice.
Through this time, children develop the ability to provide feedback on their own.
To enable self-directed learning, it is essential to take time for self-evaluation.

A New Learning Coaching Method for a New Era
“Worksheets for use in 1:1 learning coaching”

When coaching children, I find that 'the less you teach, the more you learn.'
Parents and coaches should support and encourage their children to study on their own, and guide them to develop the ability to study using their own brain.
To achieve this, we suggest reading slowly with a focus on slow reading, controlling motivation to manage one's inner self, studying by directly expressing what one has learned, and habits of feedback to reflect on one's studies and daily routines.

In addition, we have included the programs already used in after-school programs and self-directed learning camps, and attached various activity guides, so that they can be used when conducting after-school programs or camps.
Rather than using it as is, it would be better to revise it and use it in a new way, taking into account the trends of the times and children's interests.
In the process of creating something new, the coach's skills will be developed and the children will become more engaged in the class.
