A brief reflection on a busy day
A busy day, a moment of reflection
Description
Book Introduction
“God's quiet invitation for you, who are busy today.”
"In this busy day, a moment to pause and reflect on the Word."

The days are long, the breath is short.
From the time I go to work to the time I go home, my mind is constantly busy and my heart is always anxious.
I want to live a better life, but I often get stuck in the face of recurring confusion and weakness.
This book, through its relatively short meditations of "one chapter, one word," allows me to honestly examine my heart before the Word, and takes a step back from the perspective I've been holding onto to look at God in a new way.

Rather than denying and trying to get rid of anxiety, it helps me acknowledge myself as a being with anxiety and remember God who sustains that being.
"A Brief Meditation on a Busy Day" opens the way for busy people who want to stay before the Word and for those who want to catch their breath with a heavy heart, to recover their breath of faith in just a few minutes a day.

Into the book
Jesus doesn't say he'll stop what he's doing.
You don't promise to guarantee work-life balance.
Rather, he asks us to bear his burden with him and share in his burden.
It means to build a relationship.
Because true rest comes from there.

--- p.15

Jesus summarized the Ten Commandments in one word: love of God and love of neighbor: love.
It is love that saves us from greed.
Humans become more and more greedy because they are not loved.
What Jesus wanted to confirm even while carrying the cross was God's love.
That love frees us from comparison, evaluation, and the gaze of others.

--- p.47

These days, there are many people who are smiling but crying inside.
I don't laugh because I'm happy, I laugh because I'm sad.
We smile to hide our sadness, and we smile to forget our worries.
To believe in Jesus is to possess a joy that neither sorrow nor depression can take away.
So you can cry to your heart's content, grieve to your heart's content, and even participate in the grief of others.

--- p.72

To believe in God is to have the freedom to leave the unintelligible unintelligible.
It is the peace that comes from trusting that the important puzzle pieces are in God's hands.
Faith is the wisdom to leave a gap until God puts the puzzle together.

--- p.109

There is a difference between having a wealth of knowledge about God and having Him as the Lord of my life.
Even if I know God well, God may not be the master of my life.
Ghosts may be the masters of my life.
Even though I don't know much, when I struggle to live by even one verse of His Word, I begin to develop a personal relationship with the Lord, who is the Word.

--- p.143

God is the one who has never forgotten us.
Some people tattoo words or names they never want to forget on parts of their bodies.
God the Father has engraved us on the palms of His hands.

--- p.225

Now is the time when I must confess that the fruits of my labor and sweat are all a result of God's grace.
It takes much greater faith to confess that the fruits of my labor are a blessing than to confess that manna from heaven is a blessing.
We have finally reached the moment when the growth plate of faith opens wide.

Publisher's Review
“Human pride, self-centeredness, anger, greed… How can we be free?”

We each try to resolve our inner anxiety and unrest in our own way.
We make plans, chase achievements, and try to rationalize ourselves, but such efforts do not bring true peace or freedom.
Above all, all those efforts can never become our 'righteousness'.
“A Busy Day, A Brief Reflection” does not ignore this kind of human frailty.
Rather, it forces us to face our weaknesses and ask ourselves who we are and who we should be within.
This collection of meditations guides us to live according to God's gaze even amidst the busyness and confusion of today.
There are no points or practical guidelines for applying the words, but meditation seems to speak quietly to the complexities of the mind.
“It’s okay like this now.
Come with me.”

Each meditation begins with a short Bible passage, asking, "Who am I?" rather than "What should I do?"
And in that question, a shift in perspective toward God, who is greater than us, begins.
This book ultimately says:
“We must break free from the attempt to confine God within our own framework.
God is beyond our thoughts.” This book will be a quiet and deep comfort to all who wish to encounter God in the complex and fragile daily lives of today.
