Into the book
"When on earth will it end?"
Harin glanced inside the counseling room through the glass window.
The director had a long conversation with my mother while the test results were in front of her.
Judging by the occasional laughter, the results didn't seem too bad.
Harin kicked the floor twice with the toes of her sneakers and walked to the end of the hallway.
--- p.7
Harin remembered the time when they had promised to leave the group chatroom and leave only Sari behind.
Ji-ae and herself left as promised, but Cho-rok stayed in the group chat and made up with Sari, becoming best friends.
From Harin's perspective, neither Saeri nor Cho-rok understood.
Especially, just thinking about Saeri's face as she pretended not to know anything after Harin teased her behind her back, made me feel sick.
Even the fact that Cho-rok, who was supporting such a bird, was making Harin feel uncomfortable was the same.
--- p.20
“Are you jealous of the stars?”
Jiyu asked, pushing Purum.
“What about jealousy? I was just telling the truth.”
Purum replied with a sullen expression.
“Star, congratulations!”
Meanwhile, Harin approached Byeol.
“Thank you! I didn’t really try hard, but I guess I got lucky this time.”
Byul said, straightening his shoulders.
--- p.32
“Byeol always looks perfect, so to be honest, I’m a little jealous.
“It seems like he’s a natural talent, and he studies really hard, so he’s bound to be perfect… … .”
Harin pressed down on the cream bun without realizing it.
Then the cream fell to the floor.
The white cream seemed to be staring at Harin as if her inner feelings were being pushed out.
‘I wish I could be a star… … .’
--- p.45
“Harin, are you that confident?”
As Byul's lips distorted without mercy, Harin felt a belated "Oh no."
“No, what I mean is…….”
“Do you think you’re the only one who’s good at it?”
The star's lips trembled.
“Star, I think there’s been a misunderstanding…….”
"it's okay!"
Byul-i turned around and ran out of the playground.
Harin snorted and frowned.

Publisher's Review
“We can only become real friends if we leave the group chat!”
Over 25,000 copies sold! The bestseller "I Left the Group Chat" returns with a second installment!
A children's picture book that was selected as the Book of the Year by Siheung City, Seosan City, Pocheon City, and Ulsan City, in addition to being selected as the Literature Sharing Selection, the Must-See Book of the Month Selection, and the Youth Book Token Selection, and at the time of its publication, it brought to light the seriousness of the problem of 'group chat bullying' among elementary school students.
"I Left the Group Chat" has resonated with and entertained many young readers through its story of Chorok-i and his friends communicating and developing relationships in an online chatroom.
As the review says, "This is something that any elementary school student with a cell phone has experienced at least once," "I Left the Group Chat" is still greatly loved as a story that is essential for children's healthy school life and relationships with friends.
Thanks to the interest and support of readers, 『I Left the Group Chat 2』, which was recently published, is a story that unfolds around Harin, one of the friends from the first part, and shows the exciting various events that occur within the group chat as new characters appear and another group chat is created.
The problem of 'group chat bullying' among friends still continues!
It's time to think about what I can do to solve the problem!
Children living in the digital age spend a lot of time communicating and forming friendships through group chats on their phones.
In fact, we often share more stories through group chats than we do when we actually meet face to face.
This phenomenon is increasing as the age at which people start owning mobile phones is getting younger.
While this may be seen as a way to keep pace with the future society, if young people become accustomed to forming online relationships without properly understanding the meaning and purpose of group chats, it can lead to various problems.
Among them, the first thing that came to the surface among elementary school students was the 'bullying problem in group chats.'
The issue of group chat bullying remains an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed, even compared to 2022, when "I Left the Group Chat" was published.
This book uses the power of literature to tell children what they need to learn and be careful about so that conflicts that begin between friends don't escalate into unfortunate situations where adults need to intervene.
“You and I, is this the end of our relationship?”
Practice wise relationships through the characters in the story!
The main character, Harin, has already experienced conflict with her friends.
At the beginning of the semester, I had no worries because I was in a class with friends I got along well with, but I ended up going into the vacation filled with misunderstandings and disappointment after getting caught up in the conflict between Cho-rok and Sari.
Harin, feeling depressed, goes to a math academy and meets new friends there.
Purum, who entertains her friends with her witty remarks, Jiyu, who likes idols like Harin, and Byul, who is good at studying and kind.
Thanks to her friends, Harin was able to forget about the problems between Cho-rok and her friends for a while.
But that doesn't last long, as Harin begins to feel uncomfortable with Byul's behavior, which sometimes alienates her.
Bringing up topics of conversation that Harin doesn't know about, or creating a group chat room without Harin.
Byul-i is showing increasingly incomprehensible behavior and is keeping Harin in check.
How would Harin have acted in this situation? Rather than reacting emotionally or retaliating against Byul, Harin would have tried to resolve the conflict by asking for a conversation.
Perhaps Harin had already experienced conflict between friends, so she didn't want to create an uncomfortable relationship with her friend again.
Do you have a friendship that you can't reconcile with, leaving you with a lingering sense of unease? Through this book, I hope you'll follow Harin's journey of wisely resolving conflict and develop a strong bond with your friend.
The meaning of 'group chatroom' as told by Shin Eun-young and Hee-jeomi!
Let's talk about the friendship formula again!
Writer Shin Eun-young, who introduces the joy of reading to young readers with themes and diverse story settings that penetrate the issues of modern society in works such as 『I Left the Group Chat』, 『The Fragrance Store that Sells Memories』, 『Swan, the Child of the Forest』, 『Emotion Restaurant』, and 『My Little Brother Was Delivered』, and writer Hee-jeomi, who softens the hearts of young readers with her lively and lovely illustrations in works such as 『I Left the Group Chat』, 『Cherry Shrimp: This is a Secret Message』, 『Somehow a Team』, 『The Like Manipulation Incident』, and 『Speaking Practice to Express My Thoughts Clearly』, have teamed up once again to create the second story of 『I Left the Group Chat』! The two authors faithfully depict the space of a 'group chat' through words and pictures, and delicately express the upset felt when a relationship with a friend goes wrong and the uncomfortable feelings that come when you hate someone.
Furthermore, through her words, author Shin Eun-young conveys hope and encouragement to readers by saying that anyone can experience these emotions and that they can grow further by resolving conflicts without giving up on relationships with friends.
Thanks to 『I left the group chat』, I met many young readers.
A friend who gave me a handwritten letter, a friend who wrote letters to the main characters as a post-reading activity,
A friend who imagined and wrote the second part, and who said that he has changed and grown through this book.
Even the friends who emailed me.
Thanks to you all, I left the group chat.
There could have been a part 2.
Thank you always.
-From the words of author Shin Eun-young
When I want to reconcile, I tend to approach first and show my sincerity.
If you keep it in your heart for a long time and let time pass by,
It feels like the wall between me and my friend is only getting higher.
If it's someone special to you, try approaching them first before more time passes.
I'm sure your friends are waiting too!
