Tim Keller's Romans Bible Study
Description
Book Introduction
Augustine, Martin Luther, John Calvin, and John Stott
The very book of Romans that completely changed my life and ministry.
Taste the essence of the gospel with Tim Keller!
“Therefore, brothers,
I urge you by the mercies of God,
“Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.”
Christians live looking to God's mercy toward us.
We always look to the cross on which Christ died.
So we do not fear being separated from God and condemned.
It determines everything about who we are and what we do, Paul wrote to the church in Rome in the mid-first century.
A Christian life is a life of gratitude to our merciful Father.
We live to obey and please our Father.
Even if it means paying a price or enduring some inconvenience.
How can we do this? Paul outlines our lives and shows us how to live as a sacrifice of thanksgiving in every aspect of our lives.
The gospel changes not only our eternal future, but also our present perspectives, priorities, attitudes, and actions.
This remarkable epistle will show you why we should reflect on the mercy we have received from God and live accordingly, and how we can do so.

Into the book
God's Gift (Romans 1-7)
Everyone wants to be right.
We want to be right in the eyes of the laws of our country, the people we respect, the people we love, and the people we work with.
We strive to attain and maintain such a proper position.
In other words, we long to be ‘righteous.’
There is a right position that is better and more important than anything else.
It transforms and liberates every aspect of our lives, yet no one can acquire or maintain it on their own.
It is a right relationship with God.
Romans 1-7 is a story about that very 'righteousness'.
And it shows us why we don't have it, why we need it, and how we can get it.
“But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
We are moved by this passage.
This is the part of the Bible that has been read the most and written about the most.
Romans 1-7 is a great help in understanding the Bible.
So you will receive the precious gift of a right relationship with God, and your heart, life, identity, and perspective will be transformed.
By all God's mercy (Romans 8-16)
How does the gospel transform our lives? That's the central question Paul addresses in the latter half of Romans, the book that forms the foundation of the Bible.
The key passage in Romans 8-16 is this:
“Therefore I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercies, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God—this is your spiritual worship” (Romans 12:1).
Paul wanted to show the first-century Roman church and us what it means to live in light of all that God has done for His people.
God's grace shapes who Christians are and what they do.
Romans 8-16 shows how the gospel changes not only our eternal future but also our present perspectives, priorities, attitudes, and actions.
As we study the latter part of this remarkable epistle, we will come to understand why we must live in light of all God's mercy.

Publisher's Review
Following the challenge, teaching, and inspiration given by Paul
When we tear open the wrapping paper of God's gift,
Your life, your identity, your perspective will change.
This book is better read together with Romans I and II for You.
We come to understand why the gospel is a gift from God, and what an amazing mercy God has bestowed upon helpless human beings who cannot save themselves.
As you study Romans chapter by chapter, you will find yourself becoming more intimate with God without even realizing it.
Especially when shared with small groups, you will discover the secrets of Romans that the author wanted to convey.
Includes Bible study guides and leader's guides for small groups.
How to use this book
Bible studies are conducted in different places by different people.
In particular, the occupations, ages, genders, and levels of religious maturity of small group members may differ.
That's why I decided to use the guidebook to apply it to a variety of situations.
This book aims to help students understand the meaning of each biblical text and see how it fits into the larger picture of the Bible.
But that's not the end.
What you discover through Bible study can be applied appropriately to your life.
