Only prayer has power.
Only prayer has power.
Description
Book Introduction
“Faith begins where human ability ends!”
Living proof of how simple prayer in faith continually manifests power through God.
Muller believed, and because he believed, he prayed.

And… …because I prayed, I expected, and because I expected, I received an answer.
The full story of Mueller, who raised over $75 million and helped 10,024 orphans through prayer alone!

When it's too dark to see the path, faith guides.
In fact, the darker the road, the more strongly you feel the hand guiding you on a completely unknown path.
Such was Muller's life.
And so will our lives.
If we simply follow God's promises.
George Muller dedicated himself as a living example of God's existence, manifesting God's power through faith alone! This book vividly reveals Muller's life, previously unknown, from his dark youth, a tunnel of wandering, to how he heard God's calling and was reborn. He also explored the path of faith he walked, guided by prayer, to pursue his dreams as a missionary and his ministry at an orphanage.

For this man of prayer, the only supreme goal was the glory of God, and the only last resort was the prayer of faith.
The only wisdom we trusted was the inspired Word, and the only divine teacher was the Holy Spirit.
He was able to take another step based on the steps he had taken with faith and prayer.
As we all know, Muller received answers to his prayers over 50,000 times.
And we admired Muller's faith as if it were all there was to it.
But in some ways, the many answered prayers in Muller's life may not be enough to represent his faith.
Before being a man of prayer, Muller was a man of the Bible.
He read the Bible over 200 times in his lifetime, finding God's promises in it and relying on them.
In his view, true faith was confirming God's word or will and clinging to that promise without wavering in any situation.
It was a constant demonstration of God's promise through prayer.

The nutrients that established Muller as a man of prayer

Into the book
“In my memories of his childhood, he was a really bad kid and had no shame.
He habitually stole and cheated skillfully before he was ten.
Even the government funds managed by his father were not safe from his hands.
The suspicious father prepared a trap.
After checking the exact amount, hide it in a place where it can easily be stolen.
As expected, Muller took the money and hid it in his shoe, but was discovered, and all the money that had disappeared before was revealed.
His father, intending to have Muller receive priestly training, enrolled him in the Halberstadt Cathedral Classical School before he turned eleven.
It is hard to believe that an immoral and ill-behaved son would be deliberately kept away from his parents to prepare for the priesthood.
… From this time on, the boy indulged in reading novels and all sorts of bad things other than studying.
He often indulged in card games and drinking.
The fourteen-year-old boy was out drinking and wandering the streets the night his mother died.
Even his mother's death did not correct his evil deeds or awaken his sleeping conscience.
And as is often the case, when solemn warnings fail to do anything, things only get worse.”
--- p.21 From “A Bitter Youth Filled with Sin”

“Of course, if a person who has been reckless and dissolute wants to live a changed life, he or she must at least start with conversion.
Although he did not completely give up his old sins all at once, such a complete change required a knowledge of God's word and will far greater than George Muller possessed.
But a new power of distinction and sanctification was at work within him.
He lost interest in evil pleasures and old friends.
I stopped going to the bar I used to frequent, and even my mouth, which used to tell lies, seemed to have changed.
I was on guard over my mouth, and as I became more careful with what I said, I was able to correct my past habit of saying whatever came to mind.
…and thus further timber and stone were prepared to complete the building.
Now he began to fight good against evil from a different direction.
Although he was still weak and often fell into temptation, he did not habitually continue to sin or rebel against God, causing him godly sorrow.
The number of overt sins decreased, and the number of secret sins committed also decreased.
“I read God’s Word, prayed often, loved my fellow believers, attended church meetings with the right mindset, and boldly took my new master’s side even when my fellow study friends laughed at me and criticized me.”
--- p.38 From “Conversion through Supernatural Providence”

“After God gave him this blessed lesson, he tested him to see how well he would keep it.
Even when the orphanage ministry was in dire financial straits, there was still about £220 in the bank that could be used for other purposes.
At least at the time, that money could have solved an urgent problem.
The temptation to do so was very strong.
Because I knew the donors and knew that they generously supported orphans.
If only they had informed us of their difficulties, they would have readily agreed to use the money they donated for the best possible purpose.
But George Muller didn't do that.
He immediately thought that this was a way to find a way out of trouble on his own without waiting for God's help.
Moreover, doing so can lead to a habit of relying on one's own methods, and one may not be able to grow one's faith by going through a similar process when facing another trial."
--- p.161 From “Only prayer based on the promised word”

“It took a lot of money from the beginning to buy a large piece of land.
How could true children of the infinitely rich Father, God, ever be discouraged? Muller and his co-workers prayed daily for God's guidance, and through this daily contact with God, their faith grew without fail, and their confidence grew that help was available.
For five weeks not a penny had been brought in for this purpose, but soon Muller was convinced that the building was already erected before his eyes.
Meanwhile, he carefully examined his own mind to see if he harbored any hidden motives or selfish thoughts to achieve his own ends.
However, after careful consideration, we determined that it was God's will to continue the work, assuming that we had no other selfish motive than to promote the welfare of orphans and to glorify God by encouraging all who witnessed the work and rely on Him."
--- p.221 From “God’s Providence Moves in a Very Complex Way”

“This is the simplest exercise of faith, and it was George Muller’s faith.
In God's blessed book, Muller found the Word of God, a new promise needed in times of crisis, new trials or difficulties.
He touched the very text with his hand, looked up at God, and opened his mouth.
“You said it.
“I believe.” He believed God’s unchanging truth, believed His words with unshakable faith, and found peace thanks to it.
Until he was sixty-five years old, nothing in the entire life of this man of God was more remarkable than his unwavering faith and the steadfastness it brought to his whole character.
It was enough to possess the Word of God.
The house he built on the word did not shake no matter how many floods came.
Never panicked or avoided.
Earthquakes may shake the earth and the sky, but they cannot do anything to the true saints, the heirs of an immovable nation.
The purpose of shaking like that is to remove what can be shaken and leave what cannot be shaken.”
--- p.347 From “Reminiscences and Visions for the Man of Prayer”

Publisher's Review
When faced with a new trial or difficulty, he would seek out the word of God that was necessary for the crisis, place his hand on it, look up to God, and pray.

“God, you have spoken.
So I believe!”

This was Muller's simple faith, and he lived a life that proved this through unwavering prayer.

In his later years, looking back on his life, Muller humbly confessed that he was nothing, that God was everything, and that apart from looking to and relying on God, he lived a life that was nothing special until the day he died.
That's right.
He always tried to be a passive instrument, moving everything according to God's will and hand.
And he constantly proved that faith through prayer and life.
