Description
Book Introduction
Storytelling-Based Global Citizenship Education Lesson Plan for Middle School Students

『Learning Global Citizenship Education through Stories: Middle School Edition』 is a book that reconstructs lesson plans developed by (prospective) teachers from Korea, China, and Japan to guide teachers in global citizenship education, following the elementary school edition published last year.
The world is filled with countless human stories set against the backdrop of natural and humanistic environments.
Some of those stories are conveyed to various people living in the world through written language in the form of books.
Books are sometimes based on fact and sometimes contain fiction, enough to stimulate students' imaginations and provide students with a variety of content for storytelling.
Storytelling using diverse content from books is a very useful way to develop capabilities as a global citizen.

Storytelling allows people around the world to share with one another the values and wisdom they have created, past and present.
In this respect, storytelling is an appropriate method for global citizenship education.
Therefore, in 『Learning Global Citizenship Education through Stories: Middle School』, we have developed and presented a class module that can implement global citizenship education by utilizing educational content and storytelling methods to foster global citizenship.
This book is composed of Chapter 1: Global Citizenship Education Using Storytelling, and Chapter 2: Real-World Citizenship Education Classes Using Storytelling.
As a book that encompasses both the theory and practice of education, the lesson plans for cultural diversity, peace education, and sustainable development can be used in social studies, science, Korean language, and other subjects in middle and high schools, as well as in non-curricular classes.
I hope that global citizenship education will be actively utilized in classes that aim to create a more just, peaceful, tolerant, inclusive, safe, and sustainable world.
