Into the book
In the midst of countless trials and pains
The story of the king who cried out to God
God was always with me on my life's journey.
David is one of the few people in the Bible whose entire life, from his teenage years to his seventies, is described in panoramic detail.
His life is a drama that seems to encapsulate all the successes, failures, betrayals, tears, and loneliness that today's Christians experience in a fiercely competitive society.
They say that even when looking at the same thing, what you see is different depending on how you look at it, and the David I met again, now well into his mid-fifties, was not the David I had seen in his late thirties.
David's Psalms, which I had previously read without much thought, came alive to me as I read them again while going through the difficult wilderness of life, each and every word touching my soul.
Sometimes, when I read the Psalms, I am so deeply moved that I cannot tell whether it is David's language or my own.
The story of David is already well known to many believers.
But there are also many surprising stories that are not well known, but are clearly recorded in the Bible.
I wanted to focus on those kinds of stories.
I hope this book will be a voice of comfort to all Christians living in this fiercely competitive world in this day and age.
I hope that the emotion I felt through David will be conveyed to the readers as well.
--- From the "Prologue"
The more David stumbled and failed, the closer he got to God.
No matter how big a mistake I made, I always came close to God, knowing full well that I would be scolded.
His pure passion to come into God's presence in any situation captured God's heart.
--- p.17
More important than how people see us is how God sees us.
Just as the brothers were surprised by God's choice of David, whom they had ignored, people will be surprised to see God using you, whom they had ignored.
--- p.25
God fills in all our shortcomings with His infinite power.
What is important is the faith that relies completely on God and the humility to know that without God we are nothing.
--- p.33
Great faith overcomes fear.
The way to overcome the Goliath of our lives is to worship God more deeply.
It is to love God more deeply.
It is to be captivated by the glory of God.
A person like David, who lacks many things but is full of passion for God.
God will work through that person.
--- p.37
Sometimes, even when we do good things according to God's will, we may encounter storms.
But this too is part of God's plan, and God accomplishes His will through that path as well.
We must believe in God's providence and not be shaken.
--- p.62
Stop living a double life straddling the world and the kingdom of God.
It's such a painful and difficult task.
I hope you have the decision to come into the arms of our Heavenly Father.
--- p.119
Even though he was living in the wilderness, David became a conduit of blessing to all who came into contact with him.
We too must live like this.
Even though the place where we now live is a wilderness, we must pour out material goods, love, and service to everyone we pass through.
--- p.139
If we have faith and persevere, God's people will become 'stronger and stronger' over time.
Even if the righteous are left alone, they will grow through God's blessings, and even if the wicked are left alone, they will decline.
--- p.162
David confessed that his victory was not due to his own bravery or tactics, but solely to God's help.
So David had no weaknesses.
There was no battle or enemy leader that I was particularly afraid of.
Because the God who is above all names, the God who knows the strengths and weaknesses of all his enemies, was on David's side.
--- p.203
True synergy occurs when God's people gather together with a common goal and under the leadership of Jesus.
By uniting their hearts, prayers, and talents, David's army became the most powerful army in the world.
The church is the body of Christ.
When each part comes together as one body, we become stronger.
Unity in diversity is the essence of God's army.
--- p.245
The powers of the world will increasingly surround and persecute the church.
In terms of objective power, the church is absolutely inferior to the world's powers.
But if we walk humbly with God, the world will never be able to bring us down, just as Absalom could not bring down David.
Therefore, the church must remain loyal to Jesus, the Lamb, until the end.
Then you will surely win with good power.

Publisher's Review
His wilderness was a path of victory through good power!
He was able to become strong because he was always with God!!
David is a very famous biblical figure and the greatest king in the history of Israel.
There is no other person in the Bible whose entire life, from his teenage years to his seventies, is recorded in such detail as David's.
As such, there are many sermons and books about David.
But surprisingly, there are many stories that have not been covered in detail.
Pastor Han Hong, the author, focused on those stories.
This book illuminates the significant events that led to David's eventual rise to greatness: how God revealed David, whom everyone had dismissed as a king; how David, living as a fugitive in the wilderness and yet not yet king, lived with the heart of a king; and how he ultimately became a great king.
The secret to David's ability to grow stronger day by day without being defeated by the strongest opponents he faced, despite living a life of ups and downs and fighting countless battles, was that he was with God.
Because God was with him, he was able to ultimately win against any powerful enemy.
David's life inspires today's readers living in harsh realities to rely on God and to find comfort and strength.
