Principles of Form
Description
Book Introduction
This book literally explains the 'principles of design' with abundant illustrations, and is helpful for those who are interested in art in general, including design, or are seriously learning about it.
It is easy to understand because it explains design principles such as unity, balance, and rhythm, as well as the concepts and functions of design elements such as lines, spatial sense, and color, through actual works.
There is also considerable fun in analyzing a work that was previously accepted only emotionally and gaining a new understanding through its formative analysis.

Publisher's Review
This book is a basic introduction to many visual ideas.
By categorizing the various components inherent in a sculpture by theme and explaining them in an easy-to-understand manner using simple language and colorful images, it helps readers easily understand the elements that form the principles of sculpture.
This is the 5th revised edition of [Design Basics], which has been used as a textbook for a long time in many art schools in the United States. Unlike the first edition, it adds sections on design and visual issues and separately covers the brightness section that was explained in the color section.
It also includes color works on new themes and diagrams that help readers understand basic concepts more clearly.
The text consists of 13 chapters.
In the first chapter, we begin with the most basic question, “What is design?” and explore the various steps to concretely realize design.
In the remaining chapters, the 12 elements of design, including unity, emphasis, scale, balance, rhythm, sense of space, movement, brightness, and color, are analyzed by using both artistic works and commercial images.
Although design techniques, materials, and purposes change innumerable times, the fundamental principles and practices that must be observed in all visual arts fields remain unchanged.
This is also why the author emphasizes in this book that students should prioritize and fully master the fundamentals of design, regardless of their career or goals.
