Poem of Meeting You 2
Description
Book Introduction
A compilation of works by Korea's leading poets, with the themes of "growth" and "relationships."
"Youth Growth Perspectives" and "Youth Relationship Perspectives," compiled by poets Son Taek-su and Ham Min-bok in collaboration with field teachers.

The revised editions of Changbi Youth Perspective Special Edition 'Youth Growth Perspective' and 'Youth Relationship Perspective' have been published.
These poetry collections are anthologies of works by established poets that are suitable for young people to read, each centered around the keywords of 'growth' and 'relationships.'
We have carefully selected and included approximately 55 works, including poems by national poets such as Yun Dong-ju and Baek Seok, as well as works by young poets who are leading the literary world.
In addition to works included in textbooks and works familiar to the public, many lesser-known, hidden gems are included.
Poet Son Taek-su led the selection of works for 'Youth Growth Perspective' and poet Ham Min-bok led the selection of works for 'Youth Relationship Perspective'. Two field teachers helped compile the poetry collections for each perspective.
We consulted with around 100 middle and high school teachers and worked hard to select poems that would be appropriate for the level of young people.

Editor's Note

The world is relationships.
Everything exists through relationships.
'Reading poetry gives you inspiration, allows you to observe things, helps you get along well with people, and allows you to get angry at wrongdoing and resolve it.
And you will serve your parents and your king, and you will know the names of birds, beasts, grass, and trees.
If we interpret Confucius' words, "If you don't read poetry, it's like standing facing a high wall," then poetry, equipped with the most beautiful law and metaphor in the world, is the root of relationships.
In an era of one-sided relationships where resentment outweighs empathy, how about accepting a poetic prescription for moving toward empathy?
I compiled this poetry collection with the earnest hope that it will be of some help in restoring warm relationships, especially for young people living lonely and desolate lives in modern times.

―Poet Ham Min-bok

Discover shining moments of growth through the ‘Youth Growth Perspective’,
Seeking Healthy Relationships Through a "Youth Perspective"

Since teenagers are standing somewhere in between being neither children nor adults, facing the strong winds of change as they grow into adults, 'growth' is an important keyword that cannot be separated from the lives of teenagers.
Accordingly, we wanted to present to young people poems that depict how the pain experienced by poets who were once teenagers while going through the rite of passage to become adults blossomed into flowers.
Meanwhile, because everything exists through relationships, many teenagers are struggling and having a hard time due to problems in their relationships with friends, family, and society.
Accordingly, we have collected poems that sing of various relationships and tried to present a prescription for poetry that can restore warm relationships and help young people form healthy relationships.

“All poetry is inevitably autobiographical, and is often a drama of growth centered around confession and reflection.
Yet, there is no ‘growth poetry’ in our literature.
Isn't that strange? When we examine poetry through the lens of 'growth poetry,' we can explore our inner selves more emotionally and colorfully through encounters with poetic growing pains." _Poet Son Taek-su

“The most beautiful law in the world, poetry equipped with metaphor, is the root of relationship.
In an era of one-sided relationships where resentment outweighs empathy, how about accepting a poetic prescription for moving toward empathy?
“I sincerely hope that this will be of some help in restoring warm relationships, especially for the youth, who live lonely and desolate lives in modern times.” _Poet Ham Min-bok

All the youth who are growing in their own ways even at this moment, while stumbling and colliding with various obstacles in the world, the boys and girls of Korea who cry and laugh because of the various relationships surrounding 'me', will be able to find comfort in their weary hearts through 'Youth Growth Perspective' and 'Youth Relationship Perspective' and gain the strength to move forward toward a more mature me, you, and us.

Youth Relationship Perspectives: "Meeting You, Volumes 1 and 2"
A prescription for warm comfort for those struggling with relationships.

Changbi Youth Poetry Series Volume 21, “Poems on Meeting You 1 - When I Call Your Name,” and Volume 22, “Poems on Meeting You 2 - Lend Each Other Our Shoulders,” are “Youth Relationship Poetry Series” that select and compile the works of established poets with the keyword “relationship.”
This collection of poems is significant in that it is the first attempt to closely examine the field of poetry and establish a new genre called 'relationship poetry' within it.
The youth relationship perspective was compiled by poet Ham Min-bok, who is familiar to youth through the poem “Eating an Apple” included in the textbook, and middle and high school teachers Kim Tae-eun and Yuk Gi-yeop.
『Meeting You 1, 2』 contains works by various authors without overlapping works or authors, but volumes 1 and 2 are structured with the same flow.
Focusing on the various aspects of relationships, it is divided into four parts under the theme of 'Relationships that Begin, Relationships that Dye, Relationships that Push and Break Off, and Relationships that Embrace and Reconcile.'

When forming a relationship with someone, we sometimes feel a little fear or hesitation at the beginning (Kwak Jae-gu, “The First”), and sometimes excitement or joy (Kim Mi-hee, “Resemblance”). We feel ourselves gradually seeping into each other (Jo Yong-mi, “Autumn Night”), and sometimes we move towards a deeper relationship, or for some reason, the relationship grows distant or even breaks off completely (Park Ji-woong, “House of Fate” / Gil Sang-ho, “House Without People”). Sometimes, we hate or reject each other, and sometimes we move from empathy to acceptance and solidarity (Park No-rae, “I’m Standing There”; Lee Seong-bu, “Rice”). The nature of relationships is truly diverse, and the contemporary youth perspective on relationships has created a place to meet me, you, and us based on poems that well show such diverse aspects of relationships.
Accordingly, the Youth Relationship Perspective is a warm prescription to comfort teenagers who live lonely and desolate lives.
Through this collection of poems, young people will be able to find answers to building warm relationships that move toward empathy.
