Korean History for Youth
Description
Book Introduction
The authors, who have taught history in schools for a long time, have written this book to go beyond the rigid and dry textbook-style structure and narrative, thinking about how young people can encounter Korean history in a light-hearted and fun way.
The greatest goal of this book is to help everyone easily understand our essential history.
It takes the form of a chronological history that narrates historical plots across all eras and regions, but unlike other books that emphasize institutional history, it contains a rich section on cultural life history that reveals aspects of everyday human life.

Publisher's Review
The easiest history book for those 'beginning' to study Korean history, from teenagers to the general public.
This book was first published in 1999 and was greatly loved, being selected as a recommended book by various book-related organizations and schools of all levels.
Based on the recently revised textbook and the established theories that the textbook is based on, the content has been revised and supplemented, and the photographs and illustrations have also been updated.
As of 2013, it has returned as a Korean history book that is suitable for teenagers and provides a clear overview of the flow of history.
1.
The easiest history book tailored to students' eye level
-History walks into my life, becoming a close friend.
Many students' reactions to Korean history are that it is difficult and boring.
There is just too much to memorize.
Many historical textbooks on the market use vocabulary and concepts that are too difficult for young people to read.
Occasionally, there are books that are easy and fun, but sometimes they stick to peripheral stories or distort history because they focus too much on excitement.
Everyone emphasizes that history is essential to know, but for young people, it is like a tall mountain far away.
This book was created with consideration for the interests and depth of youth, as well as their language skills, in order to help them approach history, which they had only looked upon as a mountain they could not climb, step by step.
Rather than being professional historians, current history teachers with the most experience teaching history to young people wrote this book and thought hard about how to make it easily conveyable.
Parts of the content that require further explanation or organization are easily explained with supplementary explanations and illustrations.
We also included interesting stories at each section to provide a break, providing a variety of interesting reading material not covered in the main text.
This book will be a good tool for young people and Korean history to become close friends.
2.
The very book countless young people have read together, from Introduction to Korean History to the CSAT, all in one place!
-Perfect for studying Korean history, which became a required subject for the 2017 CSAT.
Interest in Korean history has been growing since Korean history was designated as a required subject in the 2017 College Scholastic Ability Test.
This book, republished at this juncture, is a reflection of the authors' long-standing experience teaching history in classrooms, as well as the results of their recent research on history.
This book was first published in 1999 and received much attention at a time when Korean history books for the general public and young people were rare.
And so far, it has received much love, being selected as a recommended book by various reading-related organizations, such as the ‘Korean Publication Ethics Committee Youth Recommended Book’ and the ‘Korean Publishing Culture Association Youth Book of the Year’.
In this revised edition, the most notable feature, fun and easy explanations tailored to middle and high school students, have been maintained, and the narrative style that emphasizes the overall flow by grasping the causal relationship rather than listing explanations, has been continued.
Above all, as time passed, it contained the results of new historical research.
We supplemented the descriptions of missing parts to match the revised middle school history textbook and high school Korean history textbook, and revised the content based on the established theories that the textbooks take as their basis among the various theories that had been controversial.
It will serve as an excellent introductory text not only for young people studying Korean history for the college entrance exam and school grades, but also for the general public who wants to gain a thorough understanding of our history.
3.
The first in the Humanist "History for Youth" series.
- A history textbook tailored for teenagers that is easier than textbooks and more interesting when read alongside them.
The 'History for Youth' series is not designed for the purpose of entrance exam preparation, but rather to systematically and organically cover the history that young people need to know in order to instill the right values and wisdom in them, allowing them to see the entire history at a glance.
It presents Eastern and Western history, which was not properly covered in textbooks or easily passed over in class, at a level that is suitable for young people.
The abundant photographs, maps, and illustrations that help you understand the content will add to the enjoyment of reading the entire series.
It will be composed of four volumes: Korean History, World History-Western Edition, World History-Eastern Edition, and Modern and Contemporary Korean History, with Korean History being the first volume.
Above all, the greatest advantage is that it is written based on experiences from Korean history classes.
Based on my experience in actual classes, I wanted to find out what kind of explanations students easily understand and accept, and what parts they are particularly interested in.
This series of youth history education is easier than textbooks and more interesting when read alongside textbooks, and will continue to solidify its position.
